Train different classes, weapons, and masteries for the same character on different routes, then spend Karma Shards to merge in Part 3. This gives more than repeating the same setup on every route.
Rewind all four routes to chapter starts
The biggest worry with one save is choosing the wrong route or training someone poorly. This game's four early routes can switch, then converge into one main story later. Companions recruited and trained separately eventually come together. Keeping all progress in one save supports that structure.
Chapter rewind also lets you replay a section. Each protagonist's chapter-start data is saved. Select the relevant node to restart from its beginning, with a way back to recruitment, story scenes, or battle challenges.
Check the inheritance preview before merging
Merge Causality unlocks in Part 3, using Karma Shards to bring strengths trained in Part 1 versions into the current character. Recruit the same person on more than one Part 1 route and complete those routes first. After they join in Part 3, merge those versions’ training into the current unit.
- 1Select Merge Causality at the Altar of Causality and choose the current unit to strengthen.
- 2Choose the Part 1 route version to inherit.
- 3Page through highlighted stats, proficiency levels, classes, and ability gains, and check the shard cost.
- 4Merge once those improvements are worth the shards.
Train different abilities across routes before merging
Higher stats replace lower ones. Weapon and skill ranks, extra classes, class mastery abilities, and combat arts also appear in the preview. Worse earlier progress does not overwrite stronger current progress. The useful advance planning concerns what an earlier version can add.
Do not train the same configuration on all four routes. Master mounted classes on the first, another weapon on the second, and different abilities on the third, then spend shards to collect them in one person. Four duplicate builds only repeat the same job. Separating class mastery, weapon development, and ability unlocks produces more from merging.
Karma Shards come from Notable Deeds, whose progress is shared globally. After unlocking the Boons of Salvation you want, invest remaining shards in Merge Causality. Planning each route's training early makes it easier to build a versatile core unit in Part 3.
