Keep EXP when retrying on Normal: feast support farming and dismounting fliers
Spare weapons do not affect Attack Speed. On Normal, defeat retries retain experience; use meat for HP at feasts while leaving spell uses below full to repeatedly raise Support.

Spare weapons do not add equipped weight
Weapons carried but not equipped do not lower Attack Speed. Here is the comparison for
Cai:
| Inventory | Attack Speed |
|---|---|
| Carrying two spare weapons | 22 |
| Two spare weapons removed | 22 |
Carry melee weapons, bows,
Cleansing Blade, and other options together, then choose based on the enemy before attacking.
When checking unit stats, press ZR for list view and move between categories to compare more easily. In battle, hold the right stick forward to enter a close-up view, then press the plus button to walk around and examine characters.
Travel from inside the city and dismount fliers
Hold Y while moving the world-map cursor to move faster. To travel through Aurora’s temple, visit its branch inside Dagsion and use the travel point directly. This saves the turn you would otherwise spend leaving the city first.
Airborne units do not receive terrain Avoid. Instead of rushing into enemies, move onto a tile with high Avoid, dismount, then fight. You can still mount or dismount after moving, and use this command to respond to threats from bows.
Leave missing spell uses to keep eating at feasts
Use at least one spell in a world-map battle before visiting a feast. If you have lost HP, add enough meat to heal it. Even if HP is full, add one portion of meat.
Do not add fish here. Fish restores spell uses, but you need to keep them below full to continue feasting. Support rises across the whole party, including characters who did not join the preceding battle.
Do this in a batch at the start of a chapter, then restart once you finish. Support remains, while restarting restores the ingredients you spent. You avoid progressing through chapter objectives only to worry about repeating them later.

Retain EXP on a Normal-mode retry
For ordinary leveling, have
Cai spend HP on a Blaze Art and let a healer restore it, training both characters together. You can handle level 35 enemies with
Cleansing Blade and magic, then move to dungeons after clearing nearby bases.
Normal offers a more direct method: earn EXP in battle, let the party be wiped out, then choose to retain EXP earned so far and restart. On reentering battle, your levels and gained stats remain, and you can repeat. To lose faster, stand on low-Avoid tiles and unequip weapons to reduce counterattacks.
Since defeat can retain EXP, you can also earn EXP and retry during main-story battles, saving the travel needed to find a dedicated leveling spot.
Repeated leveling and the enjoyment of combat
I enjoy strategy RPGs because their battles have more depth than ordinary RPGs. You must consider positioning, actions, and remaining turns. Leveling endlessly through repeated defeats is convenient, but it makes carefully planned training feel less meaningful to me. Whether you keep using it depends on what you want to enjoy about combat.
