Level with support magic and pair experienced trainers with beginners. Use inn meals for recruitment requirements, then feasts to raise support across your recruited party.

Level with stronger enemies and support magic

Once your party reaches the twenties, try encounters and dungeons in level thirty-five areas. Clash gives reserve members EXP too. When you encounter a silver mummy with a large EXP reward, give the final blow to someone you want to train. Dietrich can also trigger encounters with his innate ability and repeatedly find battles in higher-level areas. After using it, wait for it to recover over several turns. Enable the EXP bonus in Boons of Salvation first.

Support magic gives EXP according to the spell, regardless of the caster’s or target’s level. A heal gives EXP in the teens, so seven or eight casts can earn a level. Leaving those uses unspent is wasteful. Learn a spell through training or White-Magic Manual, then cast it during quiet moments in battle. During free time, lodging or feasts restore spell uses for the whole party.

Retry after defeat with EXP retained

After losing a battle, the retry menu offers an option to keep EXP. Choose it to restart with the levels and skills you just earned. Defeat most enemies, leave one alive, then unequip weapons and trigger the defeat condition. Weak enemies may struggle to defeat you. Bring fewer units or switch the character who needs to fall into a low-Defense class vulnerable to effective damage. Main-story maps where a designated character falling causes defeat make the loop faster than waiting for everyone to fall.

After Dietrich learns his immobilizing Blaze Art at level twenty, you can leave an enemy alive and use it repeatedly, with a healer restoring the HP he spends. Both earn EXP. Once healing runs out, end the battle, retreat and refill spell uses, or lose and retry while keeping EXP.

The training menu shows Cai's and Peter's skill ranks side by side. Infantry training on the left currently costs 300 gold.

Train skills with experienced partners

Skills improve through successful, damaging attacks. A weaker weapon lets you attack more often than a one-hit kill does. You must deal at least one damage: zero damage and misses give no progress, so repeatedly attacking with a weapon that cannot penetrate Defense will not work. Set calendar reminders for time-limited matches, and keep up with training and manuals. Shop manuals restock weekly. Use the ones you need before Part 1 ends.

Training results are not identical with any random pair. I kept Dadao fixed, first pairing him with Yang Jie, who had D+ in all three magic proficiencies, then with Tialla, who had Black Magic B+, White Magic B, and spellcraft C. The second session gave Dadao more skill EXP. The higher relevant skill rank among the two participants determines the gains. There is no need to pair two experts: let an expert train a beginner who needs that skill.

You can also train White Magic in Clash. Learn a healing spell, take damage in a dungeon, and heal repeatedly. Retreat when spell uses are low or the enemy is nearly dead, refill your magic, then continue.

Inn meals retain support after a chapter restart

To invite someone outside your party to dine, give them a gift first, ideally in the chapter before the one you intend to restart. Choose a chapter with early free time and plenty of turns, such as Cai Chapter 7, Chapter 10, or Dietrich Chapter 9. At the inn, invite the two characters whose support you want to raise and eat through every menu. Use assignments to advance to the next Sunday, then advance twenty-eight turns each time for meal uses to refresh.

When too few turns remain to reach another Sunday, restart the chapter. Money, items, levels, and skills return to their chapter-opening state, but support gains remain. Repeat the meals until you reach the Bond Level required for recruitment. Do not mix this up with the leveling loop: keeping combat EXP requires the post-defeat retry option that retains EXP.

Meals can also prepare other protagonists’ relationships in advance. In Cai’s story, for example, give gifts to Dietrich and the desired companion, then invite those two to dine. Their support carries into Dietrich’s story. Weekly lodging also provides a chance to strengthen your bond with Eshmel.

The feast loop for recruited allies

Feasts suit characters who have already joined you.

Build recruited companions' bonds through feasts
  1. 1
At chapter start, expend at least one spell use in battle, then retreat.
  2. 2
Visit a feast tile and eat using one ingredient that does not restore spell uses.
  3. 3
With magic still below full, keep feasting to raise bonds across the party.
  4. 4

When materials or turns run out, restart the chapter while keeping the raised bonds. ::: Use inn meals to meet recruitment requirements first. Once more allies join, use feasts to raise support in batches. Support unlocks conversations and grants adjacency bonuses in battle, including Hit, Attack, and Attack Speed benefits you can exploit through positioning.

Earn money through requests, paralogues, and automatic exploration

Do quests and paralogues first. Paralogues can award twenty thousand gold, and short deadlines deserve special attention. Golden mummies drop Bullion, so do not let them escape. Cai can also fight insects in the sewers for pearl valuables. Each protagonist’s unique activities offer money and Renown too. Explore the beached ship in the east for Bullion. One Large Bullion sells for three thousand gold, though it occupies a rare exploration slot and takes turns to find. Once you have many allies late in Part 1, assigning everyone to explore can earn ten to twenty thousand at once. Recruit first, then assign them: returns are much higher than with a small roster.

Save before buying crates to farm rare materials

For ore, check dungeon yields on the map and visit the location that produces what you need. Merchants also sell and trade materials. Once Cai has a rare crop, he can cultivate more. Exploration assignments bring back ordinary materials while earning money.

    Save before purchasing a crate

A crate’s contents are determined when you obtain it. To farm high-quality ingredients or weapons, save in front of the merchant, buy and open the crate, then return to the title screen if you dislike the result. Saving after obtaining it and repeatedly opening the same crate does not work.

Adding more Rogue and Ranger units increases perfect exploration success rates, and the bonuses stack. Switch idle allies into these classes before seeking rare materials instead of exploring with your usual combat formation. There are also easier ways to obtain recruitment materials. For Goliath’s Giants' Meat, fight giants or open Meat Crate. Mu’s Glirmosa is a plant: buy one from a merchant, then cultivate it with Cai. Halvin needs ten Dates; after receiving two from a quest in Cai’s story, grow the total to ten. Buy Nezha’s Sandworm Meat at the market or obtain it from sandworms.

With materials and turns remaining, continue step 3. After restarting, begin again at step 1. Stop once bonds reach your goal.
