Level-up previewing and level-up rigging: choosing level-up results

Preview at the inn without triggering a save, return to the title screen and reload, then decide whether to certify or change classes. Certification advances growth checks without raising character level.

Reload after previewing before making changes

Preview level-ups at the inn, return to the title screen, and reload before deciding on exams or reclassing. Do not leave town or trigger a save during the preview.

Focus on one weak stat for one main unit. You do not need to redo every level for the whole party. Improve the stat you currently need and save the extensive work of chasing perfect gains at every level.

Halvin's level 32 screen lists each stat gained at the upper right. Record these results before deciding whether to reload and take an exam.

How do class thresholds and certification change growth results?

Reclassing changes which stats can grow; exams advance the growth rolls. With the same level-up rolls, Brigand's higher Strength growth may add Strength while losing Speed. Taking one Certification Exam advances the next set of rolls, whether you pass or fail. Reloading and repeating the same actions normally does not reroll them.

Halvin provides a numerical example: levels 29→30 and 30→31 originally gained Strength, 31→32 did not, and 32→33 did again. Level normally to 31, then take one exam. The next 31→32 level-up uses the original 32→33 rolls. He is still level 31 after the exam and levels normally afterward; no level-up is lost. Keep class, mount, and other growth conditions the same when comparing previews.

Save at chapter start, preview at the inn, reload, then certify

Save, preview, then decide on an exam
  1. 1
Keep a save at the chapter start that you can return to.
Confirm it has finished saving, then enter the city inn. The verified safe area is inside the inn. Dungeon endings, leaving town, and exam results trigger autosaves.
  2. 2
Preview only through the inn's combat assignment.
Assign the target to combat and everyone else to exploration. Record levels and gains without leaving town or triggering another save.
  3. 3
Return to the title screen and reload the pre-preview save.
This restores the time spent previewing. If a save has already triggered, this rollback no longer works.
  4. 4
    Adjust only if dissatisfied.
Check licenses and available exams first. For a bad next roll, take one exam. For a single missing stat such as Strength, compare an already-unlocked class too. Beginner licenses are cheap, and low pass rates postpone exhausting available exams.
After an exam or reclass, repeat steps 2–3 to preview and reload. If still dissatisfied, adjust in step 4. Once satisfied, continue the story and level normally.

Cloud backup is a separate recovery method. Disable automatic backup/download first and make a manual backup, then restore it after an unwanted autosave. This requires the relevant membership and backup conditions. Normal inn previews do not require cloud downloads. After exam results, ordinary title-screen reloading cannot undo the exam. Cloud restoration only returns to the backup point.

How should you prepare classes, mounts, and previews in each part?

Part 1: Once assignments and certification are available, use the method for one or two main units. Prepare the target class and mount before selecting level-ups. Do not formally grind dozens of levels merely because the preview looks good while the mount is still unbonded.

Part 2: use already-unlocked classes. Repeat the same loop only when assignment and exam options are available. Otherwise, progress normally.

Part 3: Decide which stat to improve first, then consider whether fusion is worthwhile.

Lysander’s single-character growth comparison

One Lysander demonstration uses this method: Rewind to before the level-up, return to town for an exam, then level again to inspect the change. Check the new result after the exam and keep it only if satisfied.

Certification can also raise stats to class minimums

One play report raises Esmeralda’s Resistance from 6 to 10 by certifying as Wing Soldier while remaining in the original class. Another record actually changes to Armored Knight: Defense 6→minimum base 10 + temporary class bonus 4 = 14. Changing back leaves 10, so the permanent gain is only 4. The latter did not test certifying without changing classes. Benefits require sufficient eligibility/materials and a stat below the class floor. Not everyone needs a class detour.

The preview from Armored Knight back to Priest shows Defense dropping from 14 to 10 on the right. Temporary class bonuses are removed; 14 is not entirely a permanent floor.

Reload after previews; exams only advance rolls

  • Leaving town after a preview saves the time you already spent. Reload before continuing normally.
  • License stock and available exams are limited. Restock by chapter.
  • Advancing past an unwanted result can still leave another unwanted result. Exams do not guarantee Strength or gains in every stat.
