Chapter 7 expeditions: Allow an extra gathering round and plan spectating and return travel aheadMinor spoilers
A gathering pool has several possible drops, so total yield is not the amount of your target material. Reclass before leaving and reserve time for spectating and recruitment after returning.

Before leaving for A Voice From the Darkness on
Theodora’s route, finish reclassing and preserve the forging budget, then schedule gathering for needed materials. Leave room on the return trip for the fixed spectating date.
Total yield is not the quantity of the material you need
First list recruitment targets and materials to turn in, then plan gathering and map exploration. We need
Thry Fruit and three more of another material, so send another battalion group to gather.
A location with four products and a total yield of ten does not give ten of your desired material. An extra gathering round is safer than returning to town one short.
If
Thry Fruit is still short, gather more on the way back. Once quantities are sufficient, explore new areas and find waystations. I later found nearby
Thry Fruit, making the earlier two-turn detour unnecessary and allowing a shorter route next time.
Reclass before leaving and reserve forging funds
Once outside the capital, you cannot immediately carry out the planned class changes. Handle classes and Battalions during preparation, then assign frontliners and experience recipients. Do not leave before remembering someone still needs to reclass.
Heavy spending on gifts and recruitment materials keeps delaying forging funds. Finish the core recruitment this chapter, then build relationships through meals gradually rather than spending everything at once. Restock some exam certificates for later when you find them.
Return from expeditions for scheduled match viewing
Plan gathering, crate exchanges, and fishing first, then head northeast for new waystations and ride back on Saturday. Check dungeons along the way, but recount the return turns after each stretch.
Remembering the preliminaries only after returning can expose a conflict in the next trip: the intended route takes twelve actions round trip, leaving no time to watch. Reserve fixed calendar activities first and give the remaining time to outside exploration, avoiding a last-minute overhaul.
Check item quantities when recruiting outside town
You can give gifts, talk, and advance recruitment when meeting companions outside, without waiting for their return to the imperial capital. Check support first, then Renown and materials. Sometimes a shortfall of only 50 Renown reveals that earlier planning was insufficient.
Read the full recruitment request. When asked for
Iron Axe, I selected “No” and asked again before realizing that three were required. If the wording is unclear, confirm the quantity before preparing items. Do not rush to hand over equipment you still need.
