Choose recruitment targets after checking Renown

Recruitment needs both support and Renown. Support can be accumulated repeatedly, but Renown still comes from main and side quests. Choose people within reach whose roles you need. Spending every gift cannot recruit someone whose Renown requirement is far away.

Visit orange character markers on the map and check both requirements. Speaking first also makes people easier to locate later. Early Yang Jie on Cai’s route has low requirements and can heal, offering one way to fill the party.

Spare inventory weapons do not affect Attack Speed

Enter preparations and find a character’s inventory to assign weapons you received. Return and press X for stats. Give melee characters a bow and magic users other weapons so they can switch for range and matchups.

Unequipped weapons carried in the inventory do not lower Attack Speed. Removing two spare weapons leaves Cai at 22. When choosing a weapon, check current equipment and the combat forecast.

Check skills and class-change requirements on the status screen

Letter proficiency ranks form part of exam requirements. Yellow backgrounds indicate strengths and purple weaknesses, changing training speed. Check the class you want before scheduling training.

In battle, press X on a character for stats, then X again for descriptions. A skill activation only shows its name; the panel explains its chance, effect, and conditions. After a miss, you can also Rewind with a Blessing and try a different position or action order.

Control Blaze Arts to preserve the Overblaze window

Blaze Arts cost HP, which can make them hard to spend early. Once healing is available, include them in your plan. Repeated use fills the gauge, and Overblaze increases stats. Fight during that empowered window.

Overblaze and Burst differ

Further repeated use fills the gauge and causes Burst, losing HP and the existing boost.

Keep the boost for the turns that need it, leave room for powerful Blaze Arts later, and keep healing ready.

Bring the protagonist to meals, then restart to build Bond

Start support loops at the chapter’s beginning to avoid repeating other completed tasks. Give targets gifts to make them eligible for meals, then return to the inn.

Bring the protagonist to meals

Include the protagonist every time, since recruitment needs support between them and the target.

Watch reactions when choosing dishes. Prioritize liked combinations, change guests when needed, and use all available meals.

Advance to the next week through personal activities and dine again. Near the main-story date, choose Restart Chapter at the Pale Raven’s Perch. Find the same targets at chapter start: support remains for the next round. Money and gifts return to their starting state, while Renown still needs separate quests.
