Theodora Chapter 10 free time: prepare before leaving and leave time to return from gatheringMinor spoilers
Prepare licenses, abilities, and battalions before a long gathering trip. Record each action when retrying in a different order, and allow time to return even if materials remain short.

The return deadline is this long trip's main constraint; training discounts and extra gathering come afterward. Change classes and update abilities and battalions before leaving, then calculate turns for the entire round trip.
Leave enough turns to return from distant requests
This trip must complete
Seteth’s request and gather materials. The round trip takes around twenty turns. The original plan was to finish the week’s business and return by six in the morning on the 16th.
There is no need to force the schedule just for half-price Saturday training. Money is sufficient now; travel time and the request window are the real constraints. Change classes, equip abilities and battalions, and restore the team’s condition before heading out.
Update equipment after Certification Exams
Theodora passed this exam at an 8% success rate, allowing an earlier class change. Since I already trained white magic, I will continue along that path.
After learning
Great Counter, replace an unnecessary support ability. With Authority now at B, check battalions again. Some improve Speed and Dexterity, while others improve Defense. Choose for current weaknesses. Two tactics books bring
Tobias to B, while
Nezha is still short. They do not need identical setups.
Licenses are running low, so replenish them at shops along the way. Stock beginner, intermediate, and advanced licenses.
Recalculate return turns for treasure detours
This trip includes a dungeon. Check classes and full condition before selecting the deployment team. High-level units receive little experience adjustment here, so let lower-level characters finish enemies where possible.
The cave has four chests and a new exit. I usually take the right side first, then explore the other half. An extra
Meat Crate is tempting, but walking there and back costs several more turns. At that point, recalculate the entire route home.
Changing the gathering order changes the result
When materials fell short, I began changing actions along the route: manual searches, dispatches, consecutive movement, soldier recruitment, and Inspirational Speeches. I tried combinations one by one. One attempt produced three, another only one, and another none.
I had assumed that with plenty of materials overall and only four of the target needed, an average distribution would suffice. In practice, it was less straightforward. Changing actions changed the outcome, turning this into a sequence-combination problem. Manual searches and exploration while passing through are not the same action either.
Some routes yielded more materials but missed the planned return time.
Before taking one more material, count all turns needed to return and hand in requests. Do not count only the outward journey.
I started by asking whether ten turns would get me home. Counting revealed that I would fall just short, so I had to keep cutting steps from the route.
Record and recheck actions when retrying
Only after several attempts did I realize I had forgotten two earlier searches. Without those steps, comparing the order of dispatches, recruitment, and speeches naturally produced inconsistent results.
I switched to testing one change at a time instead of inserting whatever action came to mind. Dispatch someone this time, skip it next time, follow the same route, then compare the difference. After enough repetition, it is easy to lose track even of the sequence that just produced three.
In the end, I accepted the three available materials and finished returning and turning in requests. Continuing to circle around for a fourth would delay the rest of the schedule.
Resume training after turning in requests
Back in town, exchange for the important items first, then complete
Seteth’s request. The new recruit has good overall stats. Recruiting early provides more opportunities to level them.
When comparing healers, higher Magic does not make their roles identical. One healer has better stats, while another can heal at range. When someone needs help from a distance, Range matters more than a few extra points of Magic.
Finish with more exams, training, meals, and performances. This chapter’s main story takes place inside the royal capital, so there is no further long journey. That leaves the last few hours for work before moving straight into the main story.
