Six carried items for the war story

When entering Part 2, each character can choose six carried items. Sell valuables meant only for money, repair and upgrade your main weapons, then allocate those six slots. If you have not explored for special weapons, collect them during Part 1 too.

Part 1 money and stored supplies also affect Part 3 carryover. Do not sell all your reserves just to fill the six slots for the war story. Choose equipment for this stretch and keep the remaining funds and rebuilding materials for later.

Complete recruitment prerequisite paralogues in time

Restart Chapter rolls back other progress

Open character details on the map early to check what your desired recruits still need. For Bond, dine at the start of the chapter, then restart the chapter and dine again until requirements are met. Bond remains, while other chapter progress rolls back.

Question marks in requirements may indicate a missing paralogue. Several can appear together in Dietrich’s later chapters. Press X for the calendar, check their end dates, and prioritize them when they appear. They affect recruitment and award money and equipment that help expand your roster.

For characters with prerequisites, such as Ursula and Sha Lan, do not check only affection. Entering Part 2 closes recruitment for this run through Part 1.

Return Saturday for Sunday’s refresh

Do not simply skip the Pale Raven interaction text. Its hints tell you how to respond. If it mentions eyes, for instance, consider options such as gazing intently.

Renown also gates recruitment. When a temple offers an audience, go directly through the map’s facilities page. Check Divine Service bonus days on the calendar and schedule activities for better returns.

Two rounds of activities after returning
  1. 1
Return on Saturday and complete training, temple service, meals, and gifts.
  2. 2
Advance to Sunday at the inn and wait for weekly activities to refresh.
  3. 3
Complete another round of town activities, then leave to explore.

Finish protagonist-specific quests

Check Cai’s Requests and Dietrich’s challenges. Dietrich’s quests award special Combat Arts that directly affect later combat options, making them well worth completing first.

You can recruit the same character on multiple routes, train them differently, and merge their stats later. Before leaving Part 1, finish recruiting the allies you want and upgrading your main weapons. Those are two especially easy regrets to leave behind.
