Ursula: sword-and-bow training into Apsara refreshes

Ursula starts by fighting with swords and bows, progressing through Rogue, Forest Knight, and Shadow Seeker, then taking The Apsara to refresh allies. Her Speed and Dexterity are good, but Strength growth is only 35%. Rather than chasing damage alone, use her Avoid, two-tile item pouch access, and later refreshes together.

From swords and bows to a second refresher

Her joining class is Hunter, so do not go backward to retrain Commoner. The beginner requirement is Sword D or Bow D, with Hunting Basics from mastery. For the specialty stage, choose Rogue at the recommended level 20, Renown 4, and Sword C or Bow C. It gives extra combat art space, Locktouch, and searching abilities. Mastery skill In Shadow improves evasion in the next combat after a kill, fitting the rhythm of sword and bow kills.

At level 35 and Renown 8, target advanced Forest Knight, requiring Bow B and Riding D. The first two stages train swords and bows; use training or guidebooks to close the Riding gap. Every route can use this class. It has Bow Hit +5, and mastery skill Hunter's Eye strengthens bow follow-ups. If Ranger is unlocked on Dietrich's route, use Ranger as the bridge instead without training Riding just to preserve the same chain.

At level 45, Shadow Seeker is recommended with either Sword A or Bow A. Three extra Combat Art slots, Locktouch, and Master Search keep sword/bow utility, with mastery Dropshadow Blade. Divine The Apsara requires Sword A and Bow C and includes Dance. Prepare the qualification item and unlock separately; no reclass level is specified for Divine. If Bow alone qualified you for Shadow Seeker, continue training Sword A to reach the refresh endpoint.

Speed growth 50% helps Avoid, while Strength 35% means switching her to refreshing sacrifices comparatively little main-attacker damage. With Leda staying in Dancer and Ursula becoming The Apsara, the team gains two refreshers. She cannot be recruited on Leda's route, so this combination becomes available after the later reunion.

A Ferghanan Horse improves the Forest Knight stage

After animal capture unlocks in Chapter 5 of Cai's route, Forest Knight can use a Ferghanan Horse. At bond level 5, it grants Strength and Defense +2 each and Defense growth +10%, improving damage and the margin for taking an occasional hit. Mount growth benefits require actual riding and bond level. They do not remain after returning to an infantry class.

At bond level 5, animals add a total of 25% growth. If no rare individual is available, a wild animal of the same species provides the same total with a different distribution. Use the mount only during Forest Knight training; The Apsara cannot equip this horse.

Strength determines kills during the archer stage

Around level 40, focus on Strength, Speed, Dexterity, and HP. Strength 35% is low, so whether she can kill first depends on keeping Strength up. Speed 50% supports follow-ups and Avoid, while Dexterity 50% helps Hit and Crit. HP growth is 40%; at least leave room to survive an occasional hit.

During her physical attacker stage, do not chase Magic or Charm. Use bow range and positioning to avoid mages when Resistance is low. Expected Luck and Defense are enough. If Strength grows badly, train her again on another route where she is recruitable and use Merge Causality to retain the higher value in each stat. Slightly poor Strength does not erase the action value she gains after becoming a refresher.

Her strengths are Sword, Bow, and Gauntlet, with no weak subjects. Base growths total 360, including Defense 35%, Resistance 30%, Luck 40%, and Charm 45%. Her overall rating is B because Strength and Magic are both only 35%, recruitment requires a paralogue, and training time is short. Sword/bow flexibility and a second refresh role provide utility, but do not imply damage equal to a dedicated high-Strength attacker.

Finish the missing carriage paralogue by October’s deadline

Recruitment requires bond 3 and completion of Talimun's paralogue. Renown requirements are 10 on Cai's route, 7 on Dietrich's, and 9 on Theodora's; she cannot join Leda's route. After meeting the conditions, negotiation asks three consecutive questions. Answer “Yes” to all three.

Accept the paralogue in the Imperial Capital. It corresponds to Chapter 10 on Cai's route, Chapter 9 on Dietrich's, and Chapter 11 on Theodora's. The first window begins September 17, ending September 22 for Cai and Theodora or September 19 for Dietrich. The second begins October 1, with the final deadline at 12:00 on October 12. Complete the paralogue before handling recruitment negotiations. Maxing bonds and Renown alone does not make her join automatically.

Keep item pouch coverage with the team

Management Skills allows allies within two tiles, including herself, to use the item pouch. Allies benefit only while she stays near the main battle line; moving alone to another side leaves the other group without access. Seize the Chance+ has a chance equal to half Luck when attacking to multiply damage dealt by 1.5. It is a chance-based benefit. For required kills, check damage without activation first.

She can also learn Distraction for adjacent enemy Hit −3. Dodge grants Avoid +5 only as infantry against bows or magic. Do not include infantry-only bonuses while mounted as Forest Knight. These are not all learned on joining; train each required proficiency.

Swords handle close targets while bows shoot from range

Combat artDurabilityEffects and costs

Shadow Gambit2Might +3, ignores favorable enemy terrain, range 1

Breakaway Shot10Move one tile after combat; Might -5, range 2
Spiral Shot5Might +7; Dexterity / 2% chance to add Attack +5 when attacking, range 2

Breakaway Shot trades high durability cost and lower Might for post-combat movement. Flash Blow and Spiral Shot also require chance activation for their extra Attack. Separate these costs and benefits when choosing whether to secure a kill, handle a terrain target up close, or attack and leave a dangerous tile.

Prioritize coffee for building bonds

Her favorite gifts are Common Coffee and Select Coffee. She likes Arrowhead Gem, Crimson Ghosh, The Knight's Suitors, Kitten Figurine, Mane Ornament, and Pack of Pastels. Acceptable gifts include Saraminian Sweets, Garum, Young Ghosh, and Simple Pastries.

She likes poetry collections, animals, flowers blooming in shade, and counting money. Her support conversation partners are Eshmel, Peter, Bonaventure, Sirocco, Gaitz, Simon, Fianna, and Jasmine. Her Japanese voice actor is Anna Yamaki.

Start with low-investment supplies, then consider Dancer

Use her existing sword/bow training for supply support, letting allies within 2 tiles access the convoy. Add extra-action support after obtaining Dancer access in Part 3.

Ursula's unique value is letting herself and allies within 2 tiles access the convoy at any time. She is useful before developing high damage. To make her a main attacker, improve Strength or merge a separately trained Magic record for hybrid offense. Her level 35 chance-based damage boost is a bonus, not a replacement for base damage.

Training route by stage

Complete the paralogue before formal recruitment, then continue from her current level instead of restarting a level 7 template. The training below uses recommended exam levels; change classes according to actual progress.

Complete the paralogue before recruiting in Part 1

Complete Talimun's paralogue, then meet your route's Renown, Bond, and question requirements. Check actual Strength, weapon proficiency, and team gaps on recruitment. For convoy access and later refreshing alone, continue existing Sword or Bow training, aiming for B in at least one. Do not spread training across every weapon.

Improve Strength first for physical offense. Level as Warrior for Strength, then switch back to a bow class for serious battles. Brigand recommends level 20, Renown 4, and Sword or Axe C. Warrior recommends level 35, Renown 8, and Sword, Axe, or Gauntlet B. Start at the stage that fits her actual recruitment progress; units already past a stage need not level through it again.

Bring weapons she can currently use and keep the convoy available to nearby allies needing medicine or different charms. Do not assume she already has rare equipment.

Management Skills lets allied units within 2 tiles, including Ursula herself, access the convoy. The recruitment panel on the right separately lists Support, Renown, and incomplete prerequisites.

Follow the main force with supplies in Part 2

If damage is lacking, continue leveling in the chosen Strength class and use current weapons and arts to finish enemies in actual battles. High Speed alone does not make her a frontline tank.

For support, keep Ursula behind the main force so units needing emergency medicine or equipment changes remain within 2 tiles. When healers are busy, allies can take medicine from the convoy and heal themselves. Check remaining actions in the game menu after taking an item; do not assume an extra action.

At level 35, Seize the Chance+ has a (Luck / 2)% chance to multiply damage dealt when initiating combat by 1.5. It increases damage, not Defense. She should still finish enemies safely without the proc; do not let the plan fail by gambling on the multiplier.

Take the low-investment Dancer route in Part 3

Change to Dancer for back-line extra actions while retaining 2-tile supply access. The class table recommends level 35, Renown 8, and Sword or Bow B. In the Promised One's story, other characters can receive access, but only one holds it at a time: return it from the current holder first. If Ursula is already above level 35, do not retrain from earlier levels; check whether she can take the exam now.

If you already have strong extra-action support, compare the value of switching. Dancer grants Dance; Special Dance requires class mastery. Use weapons only for necessary finishing blows. Prioritize granting another action to an established carry, positioning for supply access too. Dancer and The Apsara have separate qualifications. The latter also requires Sword A, Bow C, a divine-class item, and its unlock. Becoming The Apsara requires these additional investments.

Ursula as The Apsara uses Dance on Theodora. Both characters and the Dance command at the lower left remain visible.

Theodora reopens the attack menu after Dance; Ursula remains behind her.

If Strength is high enough, another approach levels as Warrior or Battlemaster, then switches to Bow Adept or Bow Knight for serious battles. Bow Adept recommends level 45 and Bow A; Bow Knight adds Riding D and its class unlock. This requires maintaining Bow training, a bow-cavalry mount, and her bond. Evaluate her stats and class abilities after switching back to the bow class.

Hybrid multiroute training or The Eternal for Strength

Two high-investment training plans
Merge hybrid offense and master The Calamity

Recruit early on Dietrich's route and train Magic. Use Ranger for Speed and Dexterity on another route, then merge physical and magical offense in Part 3. Use Levin Sword and Tempest Bow against low Resistance and armor, then master The Calamity for Divine Will to improve Luck. This is a multiroute hybrid plan requiring divine-class access, not a low-investment archer.

Reach Axe S and master The Eternal for Strength

After Axe S, master The Eternal for Divine Might to improve Strength, then fight as Bow Adept or Bow Knight, focusing on physical damage.

The two masteries serve different stats; do not combine them into a standard route requiring both divine classes. Each also needs qualifications, an item, an unlock, and additional battles for mastery.

Give another action to whoever can resolve the turn

Keep her behind core units needing supplies, checking the 2-tile range before allies take medicine or change charms. After Dancer, give another action to the ally best able to solve the current situation. For an offensive build, have others weaken enemies, then check unboosted damage and Hit before finishing. Supplies and Dance both require Ursula alive and safely positioned. Assess physical and magical incoming damage before tanking; Speed alone is insufficient.

Recruitment

She cannot be recruited on Leda's route. On the other three, complete Talimun's paralogue first, then give gifts, meet the route's Renown and Bond, and answer “yes” to all three questions. Return to town to negotiate after the paralogue. See Ursula's recruitment requirements for deadlines and route thresholds.

Return Dancer access before changing its holder

  • Planning training as if an early appearance means she has joined; the paralogue is the key prerequisite.
  • Treating 50% Speed growth as a substitute for Strength investment, or assuming Seize the Chance+ always activates.
  • Confusing Dancer and The Apsara access, or forgetting to return the previous Dancer's qualification.
  • Entering enemy range for a quick item withdrawal. Check remaining actions afterward rather than assuming more.
