Bonds and supports: meals before recruitment, feasts afterward
Estimated from measured gains, Ultand–Leda takes about 4–5 Herbal Recipe Guides or 6–8 Garum to go 1→2; Cai–Eshmel takes about 2–3 fully correct White Crow conversations at level 1.

Before recruitment, seat the target with the relevant protagonist at a meal. After recruitment, raise the party's bonds together through world-map feasts.
Assuming the same gain each time, measured increases give the following estimates for level 1→2.
Tested quantities and gains at each level.
For recruitment on this route, seat the target with this route's protagonist. Three companions dining without a protagonist also gain bonds in all three pairs. See food preferences, seats, and gains for each pair.
Choose a method for before or after recruitment
Bond Levels cap at 5 and remain globally: bonds gained on any route survive protagonist changes and chapter restarts. You can build bonds for future recruits on other routes in any story.
For speed, use meals rather than gifts. You can dine several times weekly, raise bonds among 3 people at once, improve bonds between non-protagonists, and invite unrecruitable characters. Gifts are limited to 1 per person per week.
Fast pre-recruitment loop: ideally give first gifts in the previous chapter → eat all available inn menus at the chapter start → use Automated Activities with everyone exploring to reach Sunday → eat again → continue next week → restart the chapter when too few turns remain to reach another Sunday.
There are two menus early on and three only after raising Renown. Do not assume three meals every week from the start. Bonds remain, while gold, experience, items, and chapter progress reset to the opening. Having everyone explore reduces extra scenes. Meals and week-skipping are in the same place, reducing travel.
Include the relevant protagonist or lord when dining with a recruitment target. Without them, bonds grow among other characters and do not meet this recruitment pair's requirement. Check the protagonist's support list and reach the threshold early, then recruit when Renown is ready.
After recruitment, build group bonds with world-map feasts. Expend a spell use in battle, then use only ingredients that do not restore spell uses at a feast spot. Keeping spells below full lets you feast again. Restart before ingredients or turns run out; bonds remain. This method is for recruited teams and cannot raise bonds with unrecruited characters.

Build Renown and bonds separately. Mikaela and Fianna have examples of sufficient Renown but insufficient bonds to recruit them. Weekly gifts alone are too slow. Concentrate on meals at the chapter start, then restart before progressing normally. A demonstration compares gold and bonds before and after restarting, then reaches the target level with one more meal.
Bonds affect recruitment and combat
| Use | Details |
|---|---|
| Recruitment requirements | Many characters require a certain Bond Level with the protagonist before joining; see the recruitment section for specifics |
| Combat bonuses | Adjacent support partners provide bonuses such as Hit/Avoid; higher bonds give more Linked Attacks in Clashes |
| Bond Advent | Higher bonds with the Promised One, Eshmel, make assistance such as “White Light Wings” more likely before a lethal blow |
| Support conversations | Watch at the inn: C requires Bond Level 2, B requires 3, A requires 4 |
| Paired endings | With Eshmel: Bond Level 5 + A conversation viewed + Part III cleared. Other confirmed pairs: A viewed and mutually highest bond points |

Recruitment checks bonds with the current protagonist
Recruitment checks only the numeric Bond Level between the target and your currently selected protagonist. Include that protagonist among the three dining guests. Cai reaching level 3 with someone does not mean Leda also has level 3 with them. Relationships carry over by character pair. To prepare for the next route, seat its protagonist with the target. Pairs without support conversations can still build numeric bonds. Recruitment checks the level; conversations have a separate availability list.
Bringing new Part 3 bonds back to an earlier protagonist's story requires restarting it from Chapter 1. Other old chapters do not synchronize immediately. Renown, gold, and character levels do not accompany bonds into another Part 1 route.
Check gift quantities for each character and level
Gift quantities have been tested through level 2, while White Crow records cover levels 1–4. See attempt ranges by character, item, and rating.

Bond activities before and after recruitment
Before recruitment, use first gifts, inn meals, and theater viewing. Afterward, you can also train, perform Temple Service, bathe, and fight together. Use world-map feasts for group development. Weekly limits are in the numbers table.
Repeat chapter-start meals week by week
- 1Ideally in the preceding chapter, give each target one cheap gift. Saraminian Sweets cost 100G with no purchase limit in Megaira; the gift vendor at the lower-town tavern is also cheap. One gift unlocks meal invitations, so do not chase the best reaction. Doing this early avoids repeating first-gift trips after each restart. Sources:
- 2Learn the “Gift Discount” boon at White Crow's Roost, part of Boons of Salvation. Its first tier gives a 10% discount and is worth prioritizing. Sources:
- 3Choose a chapter with many turns and no long opening scene. Options have 80–100+ turns, with another demonstration using 120. Examples include Leda's Chapter 7, “Rose of Retribution,” and Chapter 9. Sources:
- 4At the openinginn → meal → choose 3 characters, including one protagonist → aim for a dish at least two like → eat every menu unlocked that week, 2 early on and 3 later.
- 5Use automatic activities at the same inn, with everyone exploring to reduce extra scenes. First align with Sunday, then skip 28 turns per full week to subsequent Sundays. Sunday is ideal at half price: 150G per meal rather than 300G. Repeat 4–5 until insufficient time remains for another Sunday. Sources:
- 6When you cannot reach another Sunday, open System → Restart Chapter before the main battle. Return to the inn and eat again. Gold is restored and bonds remain. Experience, items, and this chapter's exploration/request progress also reset, so keep anything you want to retain out of this loop.
Build around the weekend: accept timed requests at the chapter start, then use automatic activities to skip to Saturday at 6 a.m., earning money. On Saturday, train four times at the arena, at the weekend half price of 150G each, give everyone gifts, and use the temple/theater/baths. Then skip automatically to Sunday at 6 a.m., repeat Sunday's activities, and eat all unlocked half-price menus before exploring outside town. More units make this routine more profitable. Each town fast-travel trip costs 30 minutes, with 6 hours per turn, so excessive jumping quietly consumes turns. Sources:
Disagreements and unverified details
- Meal prices: 150G at half price on Sunday, 300G on ordinary days. Claims of half-price Saturday meals conflict with other records, so do not budget for Saturday discounts. Sources:
- Recruitment also requires the target's bond with your current protagonist. See recruitment requirements for thresholds.
Build recruited-party bonds with field feasts
Keep the two methods separate. Inn meals can invite unrecruited characters, making them useful for recruitment thresholds. World-map feasts raise bonds across your recruited party and help unlock conversations after expanding or combining teams.
Expend at least one spell use at the chapter start, then repeatedly feast with ingredients that do not restore spell uses. Restart when ingredients or turns are nearly exhausted. Do not add spell-restoring ingredients and remove the condition sustaining the loop. Check the item table and in-game descriptions for ingredient effects.

Part III practical detail: gather multiple teams before eating. One record brings five teams of 8 onto one space, repeatedly feasts with HP-only ingredients, and includes the protagonist to raise bonds too. The same prerequisites apply: expend a spell use first and never restore spells to full. Hold Y to handle frequent Bond Level notifications.
Restarts keep bonds, but chapter facility gains must be considered separately. Build meal relationships and restart; Divine Service contributions roll back with the chapter, so save training and mount development for the run you will continue. Bringing Part 3 bonds back to old protagonist routes also requires restarting from Chapter 1. See New Game Plus carryover.
Support coverage differs between characters
Not everyone has many supports. Outside Eshmel, Kiroc has only 1 C-rank conversation, and Io has only 2, capping at B. Goliath has more supports than Fabio.Sources:
- There are 243 support pairs overall, including 48 A-rank conversations with Eshmel. See the full support list.
