Troy combines gauntlet attacks and healing as a War Monk

Troy has the smoothest basic route in War Monk: gauntlets handle melee damage, White Magic handles healing, and Yun Shou adds 10 Hit with gauntlets equipped. Both Strength and Magic can grow, and her Speed is good, but HP and both defenses are too low for prolonged tanking in an enemy crowd.

War Monk preserves offense and healing

For a Master class, choose War Monk, recommended at level 45, with Gauntlet B and White Magic D for the exam. She joins as a War Monk, so continue from her current class without filling in Beginner or Specialty classes. War Monk allows both gauntlets and white magic. Its class skills grant Brawl Avo +7 and double white magic uses, letting one deployment slot cover damage and healing.

Personal skill Yun Shou fits this weapon choice directly: equip gauntlets for Hit +10 without needing a specific enemy or position. War Monk mastery art Strike and Heal allows support magic after combat, further connecting attacks and healing within one turn. Train Gauntlet and White Magic together instead of focusing only on gauntlet damage and neglecting healing.

For a Divine class, choose The Avatar with either Black Magic S or White Magic S. It provides All-Magic Zenith, Magic Hit +10, and Magic Heal +20; mastering Divine Law adds another 10 Magic. War Monk’s combined offense and healing also builds a foundation for later spell use. Consider your other mages’ qualifications before investing in a Divine class.

Check both Strength and Magic

Prioritize above-average Strength, Magic, Speed, and HP for this plan. Strength growth is 45% and determines physical gauntlet damage. Magic is also 45%, governing White Magic healing and magical attack damage. Speed growth is 50%, using light gauntlets to pursue follow-ups and Avoid. Do not omit HP from these four checks: with HP growth 40%, Defense 30%, and Resistance 30%, even one hit can hurt.

Below-average Luck and Charm are acceptable. Luck affects Critical and Dodge, while Charm affects gambit Hit; neither is the main priority for this gauntlet and white magic build. Average Dexterity growth is enough, since Yun Shou already improves gauntlet Hit. Manage low Defense and Resistance mainly through action planning, avoiding consecutive enemy attacks. Class Avoid bonuses do not prevent every hit.

Fast hybrid combat is limited by availability

She is strong in Gauntlet, White Magic, and Black Magic, with no weak proficiencies. Strength 45%, Magic 45%, and Speed 50% let her follow up with gauntlets and also heal. Yun Shou makes gauntlet Hit more reliable. Her durability is thinner, with HP 40% and both defenses at 30%; do not assign her to absorb attacks like an armored unit.

She is available only in the prologue and Part 3, not Parts 1 or 2, giving her far fewer training and deployment opportunities than early companions. Her overall B rating reflects short availability, fewer battles, and low bulk, not merely her endgame gauntlet damage.

She joins at the bridge without recruitment negotiations

She joins during an event in Prologue Chapter 2, when you reach Alcyoneus Bridge on the way to the imperial capital. She has no separate Bond and Renown negotiation table for the four protagonists’ routes, and Parts 1 and 2 are not available training periods for her.

She likes her fellow companions and rich natural scenery.

Switch between Heal and basic fist arts as needed

Her white magic includes Heal, with 10 base uses, Might 10, and Range 1, restoring HP to an adjacent ally. War Monk’s white magic use bonus increases the available casts. The basic gauntlet art Mighty Fist costs 2 durability, with Might +4 and Hit +10, making it useful for reliable close-range attacks. Yun Shou’s 10 Hit and the art’s Hit modifier come separately from her personal skill and combat art.

Her growth in both Strength and Magic supports switching between physical and magical gauntlets. Target the enemy’s weaker defense, then use white magic for healing. She has no offensive white magic; a White Magic strength does not grant other characters’ spells.

Use Wiseman first for a direct endgame plan

Another endgame progression switches from War Monk to Wiseman, keeping Wiseman for most main maps before Part 3 Section 4. During Section 2 preparation, upgrade Zerberus to +3, prepare fully upgraded Pilums or Wooden Spears for the team, and arrange service at Aurora’s temple. Use Wiseman in battle first, then visit other classes for mastery later; you do not need to change class for every map.

Later, use Battlemaster, Shido, The Blade, and The Avatar to obtain masteries, then handle main battles as The Godhand. Prioritize Divine Law, Ever Vigilant, and Divine Insight in the five endgame slots. Choose two more from Divine Adornment, Fistfaire, and Movement +2 options. Use Zerberus as the main weapon, with Victory Gem and Silver Shield.

This route uses two types of Divine eligibility for mastery, costing more training, eligibility refunds, and team resources than staying in War Monk. Remaining in War Monk saves the detour. For the direct endgame plan, prepare mastery acquisition and actual battle classes separately.

Stay in War Monk for anti-air combat and healing

In Part 3, keep Troy in War Monk initially. Guard flying reinforcements with Zerberus and heal between fights; there is no need to return to lower classes.

Modified Weapon at level 50 is effective against flying; Modified Weapon+ at level 60 upgrades this to super-effective. Both require Zerberus equipped. Her long-term training window starts in Part 3; continue from her existing progress when she rejoins.

Class progression by stage

Part 1: No normal recruitment or training entry

You can only control her briefly in the prologue. She cannot be recruited normally in Part 1 or trained through lower classes such as Diviner and Shaman.

Part 2: Still unavailable for training

She still cannot be recruited or trained normally in Part 2. Check her existing Gauntlet, White Magic, equipment, and mastery when she rejoins in Part 3.

Part 3: Fill white-magic gaps in War Monk first

Training after she rejoins in Part 3
  1. 1
    Stay in War Monk initially.
The character table records control beginning as a level 45 War Monk, but this starting record is not independently verified; use the current save's state. If already a War Monk, use it without retaking the exam for the army-wide unlock. Her personal firearm is classified as gauntlets and receives Yun Shou's gauntlet Hit +10. Train Gauntlet, not Spear based on its appearance.
  2. 2
Plan White Magic training around healing gaps.
A+ learns Physic and Restore; S learns Recover and Barrier. Check learned spells first rather than confusing “can learn” with “knows on joining.” War Monk supports both gauntlets and white magic for alternating combat and healing.
  3. 3
Check Modified Weapon at levels 50 and 60.

At 50, Modified Weapon makes attacks with Zerberus effective against flying; at 60, Modified Weapon+ makes them super-effective against flying. Plan for the stages separately. Forge the main weapon as resources allow and carry other gauntlets for other targets. Dodge Gauntlets are another option for an Avoid focus. ::: Check whether criticals and kills can trigger gem healing. One challenge setup initially used a Sacred Gem but only had about 0–6% Critical against key enemies. Healing was unreliable and used allied healing actions; it later switched to a Victory Gem for healing on kills. Check the forecast during normal progression too, and reserve healing if she cannot secure a kill.

An original frame of Troy's Lv. 99 The Godhand setup: current class at the top left, gauntlets and a gem in the center, and equipped skills listed separately on the right. Prepare this optional divine-class setup separately from the default War Monk route (Japanese interface).

Switch to The Godhand if resources allow. Obtain the Emperor's Sash in the fourth segment and train Gauntlet S and White Magic C to pursue The Godhand. It retains gauntlets and white magic, continuing the Zerberus-and-healing role; Divine Adornment needs further mastery training. Staying in War Monk throughout saves qualification and training resources. Dancer can give the main attacker more actions. One three-unit final battle changes her to Dancer to pass actions to the main attacker, Hong Hua, increasing that key teammate's actions. Dancer needs level 35, Sword or Bow B, and its qualification item, with only one at a time. Choosing it means giving up gauntlets and white magic; do not keep calculating her old War Monk damage and healing. Develop gauntlets and magic divine classes separately. The Avatar's black-and-white-magic role differs from anti-flying gauntlets. After losing gauntlets, Yun Shou and personal-weapon modifications cannot continue as spell bonuses. The gauntlet route needs no mount.

Guard flying reinforcements and heal the main force between attacks

Troy casts Heal on Hong Hua as The Godhand: the bottom shows uses 15 → 14 and healing +40, with Hong Hua at 44/71 HP. Use the green tiles to check the target's distance. The gauntlet route can also heal between attacks.

Place her on the side where flying reinforcements arrive. Zerberus handles counters and selected kills; use ranged healing on the main force when no targets are available. In Hard Part 3, she can focus on guarding flying reinforcements. Check Range, damage, and enemy Hit, and avoid overlapping fire from other enemies.

    Recruitment details

She briefly joins in the prologue and returns through the Part 3 story. Neither Part 1 nor Part 2 offers normal recruitment. See the Troy recruitment page.

Zerberus counts as gauntlets; upgrades have different levels

  4. 4
    Train Zerberus as gauntlets.
Yun Shou adds gauntlet Hit, not spell Hit.
  5. 5
Effective at level 50; super-effective at level 60.
Modified Weapon and Modified Weapon+ apply at separate stages.
  6. 6
A level 99 setup takes substantial grinding.
In normal progression, use current abilities for anti-air combat and healing.
  7. 7
Do not rely on gem healing with low Critical.

Challenge attempts have failed and changed equipment for this reason; check actual Critical against the current enemy.
