Low-investment Ovate debuffer

Harmonia’s Hard clear record explicitly stays in Ovate without extensive training, yet still uses long-range, guaranteed-hit Blaze Arts to weaken enemies. The endpoint is his starting Ovate class; the untested mounted idea at the end is not expanded into a route.

Talimun: Black Magic and long-range curse training

Talimun joins as an Ovate. Training Black Magic into Druid makes him a backline unit who combines damage and debuffs. His truly distinctive tools are Blaze Arts with range 0–10: he can halve enemy Attack Speed or swap Defense and Resistance to create openings for the whole team. Complete his Part 1 paralogue first so he can officially join during segment 1 of the Promised One's story.

Train straight from Ovate to Druid

There is no need to send him back to Beginner classes. Continue Black Magic as Ovate, then change to Druid at A. Druid gives Magic growth +30 and Speed growth +15, doubles Black Magic uses, and retains sword access. Black Magic remains the main offense; swords are supplementary, so physical-carry Strength is unnecessary.

StageRecommended classEligibility and benefits
Advanced class on joiningOvateOriginal recommendation: level 35, Renown 8, Black Magic B; no need to retake an exam for a class he already has. Provides Black Magic bonuses and Magic Hit +5; mastery grants SpdBinding Curse
MasterDruidLevel 45, Black Magic A; Magic Hit +7; mastery grants ResBinding Curse
DivineThe AvatarBlack Magic or White Magic S; Magic Hit +10, Magic Heal +20; mastery grants Divine Law

Ovate's Bind Speed and Druid's Bind Resistance masteries work only close to enemies. Ranged curses have their own reach: move close for mastery debuffs, or cast ranged curses from behind. The Avatar is the eventual option; stay Druid until qualified.

HP determines how many curses you can cast

When checking training results, prioritize above-average Magic, Speed, HP, and Dexterity. Magic determines Black Magic damage, Speed affects follow-ups and Avoid, and Dexterity supports magic Hit and Crit. HP is especially important: each curse costs 9–18 HP. Low HP limits how many you can cast even with excellent Magic.

Strength, Defense, and Charm can fall below expectations for this route. Strength does not determine his main Black Magic damage; backline positioning handles low Defense; Charm mainly supports gambit Hit. Luck has a 60% growth and rises naturally, so do not sacrifice the main training plan for it.

Personal Growth Rates45%40%45%40%45%35%40%60%50%

His total growth is 400%, with Magic and Dexterity at 45% each and the roster's highest Luck at 60%. The S rating comes from ranged debuffs and magic working together to dismantle enemy formations; full development makes him a mainstay in the Promised One's story. The cost is late formal recruitment and debuffs lasting only one battle or turn. Have allies follow up before they expire, and support costly curses with healing.

Five debuffs solve different problems

All five curses are available when he joins. Each costs 1 Soulflame and has range 0–10. Each status ends after one combat or one turn.

HP costEffectSuitable targets
11Collapsing Curse halves HitAccurate enemies threatening the front line
18Halves Attack SpeedEnemies relying on Attack Speed for follow-ups
9Halves LuckTargets whose Luck you need to reduce
14Swaps Strength and MagicEnemies heavily skewed toward one offensive stat
14Swaps Defense and ResistanceEnemies with high Defense and low Resistance, or the reverse

His Blaze type is Underworld. Fighting with a Curse Orb equipped builds his Blaze Gauge. Burst normally reduces maximum HP, but his innate ability prevents that reduction when he uses Burst. His carried Origin item grants Magic +3, while Swashbuckler's Luck grants Luck +3. Diadem of Duality has a 25% chance to add Attack +3 when attacking. Do not assume chance-based bonuses activate on every attack.

The Part 1 paralogue determines permanent recruitment

Complete Talimun's Part 1 paralogue. With its completion record, he formally joins during Segment 1 of Part 3's Promised One's story. Early story or temporary appearances do not replace the paralogue requirement; formal recruitment still waits until the later story. Check this before planning Part 3 training.

Pastries and Ghosh suit his tastes

He likes money, adventure, cinnamon, pursuing women, and following his heart. Favorite gifts are Simple Pastries, Young Ghosh, Rare Spices, and Southern Ghosh. Liked gifts are Select Coffee, Garum, and Common Coffee.

Luck supports accuracy and evasion

Cannoning Flair grants Hit +30 when fighting with siege weapons. Winds of Victory activates at a rate equal to Luck, granting Hit +15 when he attacks or Avoid +15 when the enemy attacks. It works well with his high Luck growth, but can still fail to activate. Attack Formation grants adjacent allies Attack +1, letting his positioning also help a main attacker.

Available spells include Fire, Bolganone, Thunder, and Heal. Fire has 10 uses, Might 3, Hit 90, and Weight 5; Bolganone has 5 uses, Might 10, Hit 85, and Weight 8; Thunder has 8 uses, Might 5, Hit 75, and Weight 7. All three have range 1–2. Heal has 10 uses, Might 10, and range 1. After changing to Druid, hand White Magic to someone else: Druid cannot retain Ovate's White Magic healing.

Lend Luck+ costs no weapon durability and grants an ally within one tile Luck +3 until the next player phase.

His support conversation partners include Dietrich, Theodora, Leda, Tialla, Lilian, Bertrand, Dante, Simon, and Fianna.

Choose a class for mobility and healing needs

Keep his current class first, weaken distant enemies with curses, and reserve an ally to heal him. Choose a class afterward to fill mobility or healing gaps.

He can support the team as soon as he joins in Part 3; he does not need to become a main attacker first. To preserve his later recruitment, complete his paralogue in Part 1.

Talimun’s allied paralogue skill screen explicitly says Swashbuckler’s Luck+ grants Luck +5 to all allies. His current Luck 37 appears at lower left.

Class progression by stage

Complete the carriage paralogue in Part 1

Complete “The Vanishing Carriage Mystery” on any protagonist’s route to prepare his Part 3 recruitment. He cannot be recruited normally for long-term Part 1 training.

Do not schedule Part 2 training yet

Do not schedule Part 2 levels or Beginner/Specialty masteries, or build a training route from his enemy class.

Part 3: sustain repeated curses first

Check proficiency and HP on joining; do not retrain lower tiers. Stay behind the front line with targets in curse range, and reserve a healer to restore his HP. Curses consume HP, so without it he cannot keep supporting.

Choose a final class once he can sustain curses. You do not need to train Ovate, Druid, and a Divine class in sequence.

Choose a final class for team gaps
High Savant

Level 45, Sword B, Black Magic D, and Riding D; repair Smyrnos’s temple in Section 3 and finish its side quest.

Prioritizes mounted mobility to deliver curses where needed. The class uses swords and black magic, with no white-magic healing.

Wiseman adds white-magic healing

Level 45 and White Magic A; unlocked after clearing Section 1.

Fills a white-magic healing gap during spare actions, at the cost of black-magic access.

Valkyrium

Level 45, Riding D, and Black or White Magic A; repair Jurah’s temple in Section 3 and complete its side quest.

For mounted movement while retaining both black and white magic, at the cost of extra Riding and mount preparation.

Choose one class for the team’s gap. If the current class already supports well, use it without waiting for the endpoint. The Avatar is another costly option: Black or White Magic S, the Rebirth Lotus from Section 4, and that class’s unique slot. Do not assume he has priority for it.

Equipment and support: his main job does not rely on his own kills, so arrange an ally to restore HP first. Infantry needs no mount; mounted classes cannot equip battalions. See battalion restrictions. Teamwide Luck +5 supports allies with Luck-based abilities, such as Yang Jie and Fianna. Confirm it is learned in the menu; do not treat initial personal Luck +3 as teamwide +5.

Choose the follow-up ally before casting a curse

Each turn, choose a curse around a target allies cannot damage effectively, or an enemy with a dangerous counterattack, then have the benefiting ally act.

  • An armored enemy has high Defense and low Resistance, and a physical attacker is next: swap the defenses to expose its weakness. If a mage is next, do not instead increase the enemy's Resistance.
  • An enemy relies on one offensive stat: swap Strength and Magic to weaken its usual attacks. Check the stat difference first; it is not equally effective on every enemy.
  • An ally is just short on doubles, accuracy, or critical rate: consider curses reducing Speed, Hit, or Luck respectively, according to the current problem.

Defense-Reversal Curse costs 13 HP and swaps an enemy's Defense and Resistance. The status ends after one battle or one turn.
Defense-Reversal Curse costs 13 HP and swaps an enemy's Defense and Resistance. The status ends after one battle or one turn.

Apply debuffs before the main attacker acts. Keep a healer ready to restore his HP so he retains options next turn. Kiroc's status interaction is another team option, but does not require rebuilding the whole team around it.

Recruitment details

Complete “The Vanishing Carriage Mystery” in Part 1. He joins through the story in Part 3's first section. Gifts do not replace the paralogue prerequisite. See the Talimun recruitment page for the full sequence.

Choose who attacks next before swapping defenses

  • Forcing him into main offense based on total growth. A debuff enabling a safe allied kill often helps more than his own damage.
  • Swapping defenses before a mage attacks. Choose the next attacker first rather than moving the enemy’s advantage to the other defense.
  • Do not apply ballista Hit +30 directly to firearms.
