Peter holds down the archer role with range and accuracy

Train Peter in Bow first, taking Archer into Sniper to combine his extra tile of bow combat art range with accuracy skills. His Strength is low. His value lies in reliably chipping enemies, finishing kills, and shooting down fliers from a distance. If you want him as a main attacker, check how much damage each arrow actually deals.

Peter’s early bust portrait: short orange-red hair, green eyes, and a pale top.
Peter’s early bust portrait: short orange-red hair, green eyes, and a pale top.

Reliable shooting without strong stats

His personal growth rates are HP 40%, Strength 35%, Magic 20%, Speed 45%, Dexterity 60%, Defense 30%, Resistance 25%, Luck 35%, and Charm 30%, totaling 320. His Strength is low for a physical unit, and his Speed is unremarkable. Dexterity is his standout stat, fitting an archer whose job is to land attacks consistently.

Steady Aim grants range +1 when using bow combat arts. As long as you have weapon durability, you can repeatedly attack with combat arts from farther away without the limited uses of certain long-range spells. The condition is specifically “bow combat arts”: this personal skill does not add a tile to every normal attack, and extra range does not also grant Strength.

At level 35, he learns Correct for Drift+, granting Hit +20 when his Hit is at least 75%. Combine it with Sniper mastery skill Marksmanship and the infantry skill Steady Shot+ to make long-range shots dependable. With the full skill setup, actual battles frequently show Hit above 95%, including 100% against enemies in forests. Those results depend on the complete setup and the particular target; you cannot count on them when he first joins in Part 1.

Low growths are no reason to bench him. Part 2 has more fliers, so bows remain useful against airborne enemies. If you need a high-Strength archer, consider Kiroc or Inyoni and let Peter keep handling the range and accuracy role.

Three bow arts with distinct jobs

Combat artEffect emphasized in the originalWhen to use it
Curved ShotMight +4, Hit +10Compare it first when you need a reliable hit
EncloserReduces the enemy's Movement by 3 after a hitHold back an enemy you cannot kill yet
Leaden DrawMight +12, Hit +10; learned at Bow AAdd damage when durability allows

You can combine Encloser with an ally's Draw Back: Peter lands a distant shot, then the ally pulls him back to restrict an enemy with 5 Movement and only melee attacks. It can also pin armored enemies with ranged attacks in place. However, this uses two units' actions. If the same investment can kill the enemy outright, that is usually faster. This is a control tool for specific targets; you do not need to force the combo every turn just to show it off.

Leaden Draw adds substantial Might and is worth preparing Bow A for. Calculate each bow art’s range from the art itself and the current class. Adding one tile still leaves different final ranges for different bow arts.

Master both Archer and Sniper

The full route starts as Commoner, moves into Hunter, then Archer and Sniper. Use his starting class and the beginner bow class to bridge the early stages. The real training priority is “train Bow, then take Archer into Sniper.” Archer mastery gives Crescendo, and Sniper mastery gives Marksmanship. You still need to equip these skills in the five skill slots after learning them. Merely qualifying for a class does not complete the setup.

Equipped skillPreparation and restrictions
MarksmanshipMaster Sniper; Bow Hit +15
Bow level skillImproves Hit and Avoid with a bow as your Bow rank rises
Steady Shot+Learned at Infantry B; Hit +10 with bows or magic as infantry
Correct for Drift+Character level 35; requires 75% Hit before adding 20
CrescendoMaster Archer; Hit +3 for each kill, up to +30 on the current map

These five slots have proficiency, character level, mastery, infantry, and kill requirements. Crescendo must first secure kills; there is no stacked Hit at the start. Steady Shot+ is infantry-only and must be replaced in cavalry. Personal Steady Aim is listed separately and does not use these five slots.

The level 44 Sniper’s actual inventory contains two upgraded Iron Bows, one Bronze Bow, an Archer's Ring, healing medicine, and an Antitoxin. This accuracy-focused setup can stay in Sniper without advancing to Bow Adept just for class tier. Add a battalion separately.

Riding expands the area you can attack

Another route is Commoner, Hunter, Archer, Forest Knight, and Bow Knight. Bow Knight's high Movement lets your long-range shots cover more targets. Prepare Forest Knight's Riding D requirement early through training or guidebooks. The reference level milestones are 5, 20, 35, and 45, respectively. You still need the required Renown, proficiency, exam passes, and class unlocks.

Stay in Forest Knight until Bow Knight unlocks. The Calamity is a Divine option, prepared through Bow S or Sword S after obtaining the Crystal of Darkness and Divine qualifications. It is an infantry endpoint, so remove the mount and reapply infantry skills under their conditions. After changing, Bow Knight’s mounted movement no longer applies.

On Cai's route, you can prepare a Ferghanan Horse for Forest Knight. At bond 5, it provides Strength and Defense stat modifiers. Capturing, assigning, and bonding with the animal each require work; other routes in Part 1 cannot automatically assume the same mount conditions.

Charioteer gives low Strength time to grow

To improve Strength, go from Commoner and Hunter into Charioteer, pair it with an animal whose growth bonuses suit you, and remain in the class during the intermediate stage. This preserves his bow role while using Charioteer and animal growth modifiers to improve Strength. You must invest in Riding through training or guidebooks first. Cai's route allows you to capture and assign animals in Part 1; check acquisition conditions separately on other routes.

This serves a different goal from infantry Sniper: one spends time building stats, while the other assembles Hit skills early. Equip for cavalry conditions after changing to Charioteer; Sniper’s infantry-only effects become inactive.

Check Strength alongside Dexterity

Around level 40, focus on Strength, Dexterity, Speed, and HP. Dexterity makes long shots reliable, Strength turns hits into meaningful damage, Speed affects follow-ups and Avoid, and HP provides a buffer if he takes an occasional hit. Slightly lower Magic, Resistance, Luck, and Charm do not change his primary job of using bow arts from outside enemy range. If Strength grows poorly, Merge Causality with the same character trained on another route can take the higher value in each stat. For the battle at hand, still use his actual damage to decide whether he can secure a kill.

Early meals still leave a Renown requirement

He joins through the story at the start of the bandit battle in Chapter 1 of Cai's route. Other routes require support 3: from Part 1 Chapter 4 and Renown 8 on Dietrich's route, Chapter 5 and Renown 7 on Theodora's route, or Chapter 4 and Renown 10 on Leda's route. He likes many things, so meals can build support early, but Renown still limits when you can actually recruit him.

Cross-route recruitment also requires accepting his quest, exploring near Ulka Station on the east side of the map to obtain the Phantom Ginji, and returning it. Support, Renown, and the exploration quest are three separate requirements. Meeting the first two alone does not complete recruitment. He likes his mother's cooking and Ginji fruit. Prepare gifts such as Saraminian Sweets, Strong Cervi, spices, baked treats, dairy products, and dessert recipes. Gifts help build support; they do not replace Renown or the quest.

Use Charioteer early to improve Strength

On Cai’s route, switch Peter to Charioteer early to improve Strength, then choose mounted or infantry archery to suit the map. His bow arts let him safely soften enemies from range.

An extra tile of range on bow arts helps him safely soften enemies and break large enemies’ parts. Start with Hunter → Charioteer and use mount bonuses to address low Strength. His range already matters in Part 1; damage depends on Strength, mount, and weapon upgrades, not level alone.

Peter’s Curved Shot menu: the lower right shows Might +4, Hit +10, and Range 2–3, while the upper right lists a durability cost of 2. Use these values to choose a safe firing position early on.

Class progression by stage

Certification also requires the right Renown, proficiencies, and unlocks. You do not need to grind to a final class in Part 1. Continue training late recruits from their current class.

Part 1: Start with bows, then consider Charioteer for Strength at level 20

  1. Prepare Hunter at level 5, with Bow D or Sword D and Renown 1. Focus on Bow in practice. Curved Shot at Bow D adds accuracy; soften enemies from outside counter range first.
  2. At level 20, Renown 4, Bow C, and Riding D, take Charioteer. Charioteer and a mount improve Strength. Simply switching to a longer-range bow class may still leave you unable to damage enemies. Joining early gives you more levels to improve growth. A Ferghanan Horse favors Strength and Defense; an existing Canto horse favors retreating to safety after attacks. Choose an individual you have already captured and developed.
  3. If accuracy still lags, switch to Archer for Crescendo mastery. It also requires level 20, Renown 4, and Bow C. Each kill adds 3 Hit for the map, up to 30. Equip the skill after mastery; passing the exam does not activate it. Stay in Charioteer if accuracy is sufficient; use Archer mastery if it falls short.

In Charioteer, use upgraded bows and learned bow arts. Charger mastery can add Protection with charges. Do not stop training while waiting for a perfect horse or count mount potential as starting stats.

Part 2: Keep developing Charioteer or switch to conventional archery

Whether to keep Charioteer in Part 2
Stay in Charioteer for Strength

Stay in Charioteer if Strength still needs work and you often find straight charge paths.

Return to a standard bow class

Switch toward mounted archery once damage is sufficient and keeping pace with the team matters more. Return to a standard bow class in the War Arc for easier shooting and positioning.

You can stay in Charioteer at level 35. Decide based on map objectives and training goals.

At level 35, Renown 8, and Bow B, qualify for Sniper and master Marksmanship for bow accuracy. For mobility, add Riding D for Forest Knight. Taking Sniper mastery before switching costs another class’s worth of experience. Keep Curved Shot for accuracy and select Bow B’s Spiral Shot by the current forecast. Do not count chance-based bonus damage as fixed damage on every arrow.

Part 3: Mounted bows keep pace; Bow Adept concentrates training

At level 45 and Bow A, choose Bow Adept if you do not want more Riding training; clearing Part 3's first section is also required. For mounted mobility, prepare Bow Knight with Bow A and Riding D, then complete the relevant side quest after restoring the Temple of Kalla. Stay in the existing class until unlocked.

A more demanding alternative uses another route’s Gladiator → Brigand → Warrior to improve Strength, trains Axe S, then uses The Eternal in Part 3 for Divine Might mastery before returning to bows. It requires another weapon proficiency, a Divine qualification, and mastery time, so it suits multiple-route training. Merged stats include investment from other routes; assess that separately when evaluating this route’s Charioteer.

Keep an already-developed horse on the mounted route. Infantry can consider Steady Shot, but its infantry requirement means you cannot count its benefit while riding.

Compare existing routes in the simulator.

Break parts at range and choose the charge exit first

Distinguish normal shots from bow arts. Steady Aim extends only bow arts. Attacking large enemies' parts from beyond counter range is a practical use. Choose Curved Shot when Hit is poor and consider critical or high-Might arts once accuracy is reliable. At level 35, Correct for Drift+ adds 20 when original Hit is at least 75. 75 plus 20 is still 95, not a guaranteed hit.

For Charioteer, let allies such as Cai soften enemies first, then check whether one straight charge can finish them. Choose the ending tile before starting and stay within healing reach. Charioteer cannot evade, so Avoid cannot sustain it while surrounded.

Check the attack count before firing from range

Bow arts beyond two tiles may lose follow-ups. Check the current forecast’s attack count before firing rather than assuming both extended range and doubles.

Recruitment details

He joins automatically in Chapter 1 of Cai’s route and can train from a low level. Other routes require Renown, Bond, and “Peter’s Request”; you still need to meet all recruitment requirements after finding him. See Peter recruitment details.

Improve Strength and plan your charge retreat

  • If accurate hits still fail to kill, check Strength and bow Might. More Hit will not improve single-hit damage.
  • Crescendo needs kills to build stacks. Use an unstacked forecast for the first enemies.
  • Choose a charge exit first and account for enemy-phase focus fire. Leave allies to finish enemies if you cannot clear the row.
  • Do not copy level 1 training results onto a late recruit. Check current Strength and class, then continue from the current stage if already in an advanced class.
