Sofia: White Magic training and ranged healing

The easiest way to train Sofia is to keep advancing White Magic: Diviner, Priest, Bishop, then Wiseman. Her core strengths are flat healing bonuses and healing range. Reaching wounded allies from safety matters more than forcing physical damage. For both Black and White Magic again later, aim for The Avatar.

Train White Magic all the way to Wiseman

ClassRecommended milestoneHealing benefits
DivinerBeginner recommendation: level 5, Renown 1, Black or White Magic D; site joining record is level 7Master Magic Basics for Magic and Resistance
PriestLevel 20, Renown 4; White Magic CDouble White Magic uses, Magic Heal +5; mastery grants Piety
BishopLevel 35, Renown 8; White Magic BDouble White Magic uses, Magic Heal +10; mastery grants Barrier
WisemanLevel 45, White Magic A; also requires the class unlockDouble White Magic uses, Magic Heal +15; mastery grants MagControl
The AvatarBlack or White Magic S and Divine eligibilityTriple Black and White Magic uses, Magic Hit +10, Magic Heal +20; mastery grants Divine Law

This route mainly advances White Magic. There is no need to turn her weak Axe proficiency Hand Axe into an offensive specialty first. Wiseman cannot use Black Magic, so focus on healing after promotion; Fire and other Black Magic attacks leave the class's menu. The Divine stage restores both magic types, but requires the Divine unlock in the Promised One's story, Lotus of Reincarnation, and an army-wide slot. White Magic S is only one requirement.

Healing Knowledge adds 10 to HP restored to allies by magic, and Wiseman adds another 15. Healing also includes one-third of Magic. Flat bonuses are especially noticeable early when Magic is low, so she can perform well as a healer before becoming a finished high-level unit.

Switch to Troubadour for mobile healing

On Cai's route, you can take advanced Troubadour and ride a Monoceros. At mount bond 5, it grants Luck +3 and Resistance growth +10%, improving a healer's survival and helping her keep up with a fast-moving party. Troubadour retains both magic types, but its uses and healing bonuses differ from infantry Bishop. Choose according to the battle's healing demands.

Once capture unlocks in Chapter 5, you can prepare a mount. At bond level 5, its growth modifiers total +25%. If the rare individual does not appear, a wild individual of the same species has the same total growth benefit and can be developed first. Stay in Troubadour for mounted mobility. Switching to Wiseman returns her to infantry with a higher healing bonus, losing mounted benefits.

Prioritize healing and safety when checking growth

Near the end of Part 1, around level 40, compare Magic, Resistance, HP, and Speed with expectations for the route. Magic directly improves healing, and Resistance handles possible magical Counter. HP and Speed are her survival weaknesses; good growth gives her more opportunities to move up and heal safely.

Do not force Strength, Dexterity, Defense, and Charm to meet expectations. Pure healing does not use Strength, and Dexterity does not determine healing. Handle low Defense through backline positioning; Charm mainly affects gambit Hit. If Magic has not developed, train her on another protagonist's route and use Merge Causality to take the higher value in each stat.

Her better personal growths are Magic 45% and Resistance 40%. HP 35% and Speed 30% are lower. Strength is 30%, Dexterity 40%, Luck 30%, and Charm 40%, totaling 315%. White Magic and Bow are strengths; Axe is a weakness. Low total growth and frailty still allow backline healing. Let the frontline take physical attacks.

The queen's route makes recruitment easier early

CaiPart 1 Chapter 339
DietrichPart 1 Chapter 439
TheodoraPart 1 Chapter 512
LedaPart 1 Chapter 437

On Theodora's route, low thresholds of Bond Level 1 and Renown 2 make her easy to arrange as an early healer from Chapter 5. Other routes can recruit her too, but usually need higher Renown and bonds. Meet all conditions even after reaching her first appearance chapter.

Her S rating comes from repeated deployment starting in Part 1, fixed healing +10, and a later Wiseman +15 bonus for sustained backline healing. Low Speed risks follow-ups, while low HP and Defense make physical damage dangerous. Position her away from these threats.

Good food and cookware are her favorite gifts

She likes good food and the moment when a feast is spread out before her.

In Pale Raven conversations, “Nod” when she praises that kind, impressive person; use “Threaten” when she gives a Watchfulness not to appear while she is hungry in case she eats you; “Tilt your head” when she asks why spicy, delicious food disappears so quickly; “Tilt your head” when she asks whether you have ever been drunk; use “Threaten” when she drools over roasting or boiling you, then hurriedly denies it; “Sing gently” when she laments her wages not covering food; “Tilt your head” when she asks whether affectionate nicknames for everyone are strange; “Spread your wings” when she invites you to a drinking party; and “Spread your wings” again when she calls you a cute little bird.

Three-tile healing changes your positioning

Healing Knowledge gives allies a flat +10 healing from magic. At level 20, Distant Healing grants healing range +1. At level 35, replacing it with Distant Healing+ raises that to +2, letting ordinary adjacent healing reach 3 tiles away. Use that distance to stay behind your team, heal the front line, and reduce your own exposure.

White-Magic Mastery grants Hit and Avoid +10 and Attack +3 with White Magic equipped, mainly improving offensive White Magic when you need it. She also has an infantry-only 5% chance of Avoid +100 when attacked, plus Sniper Evasion for Avoid +10 against enemies 3 tiles away. Neither guarantees she can survive a hit, and infantry-only effects do not apply while mounted.

Offensive spells depend on your class

Recover5Healing Might 30—1; major healing
Physic5Healing Might 8—1–10; ranged healing

This spell list shows options after proficiency growth, not spells automatically learned on joining. The White Magic route prioritizes healing. Black Magic requires a class that allows it, such as Diviner, Priest, Bishop, or Troubadour. Stop counting those spells after switching to Wiseman. Physic already has long base range; the extra 2 tiles for ordinary healing are especially helpful for reaching allies from safety.

Help allies escape without attacking

Sunder costs 2 durability and grants Might +4 and Crit +10; Spike costs 2 for Might +4 and Hit +10; Cautious Blow costs 2 for Might +3 and Avoid +10 during combat. All have range 1 and require the current class to use the corresponding weapon. Wiseman cannot simply equip a sword to use Sunder.

Draw Back costs no durability and lets infantry pull an adjacent ally and the user back 1 tile; large units cannot be targeted. Lend Magic also costs no durability and gives an adjacent ally Magic and Resistance +2 until the next player phase. The healing command grants Healing Knowledge to allies within 1–3 tiles until the next player phase. These support actions give her useful work on turns when no healing is needed.

Support partners and Japanese voice actor

Her support conversation partners are the Promised One, Peter, Mikaela, and Tobias. Her Japanese voice actor is Arisa Kiyoto. Representative roles include Satori Miwa in Chousoku Henkei Gyrozetter, Hitomi Segawa in Go! Princess PreCure, and Nanako Kurosaki in Natsume's Book of Friends Five.

Class progression by stage

Part 1: Recruit early and prioritize White Magic

Continue from her current joining class, such as Diviner. White Magic D makes Heal usable; aim for Priest around level 20, Renown 4, and White Magic C. Priest increases white-magic uses and healing strength. Her fixed +10 already helps early, so she need not wait for higher Magic to start healing.

Levels that improve healing range
Level 20Healing range +1
Level 35Healing range +2

The level 20 range skill comes from leveling; exams check White Magic separately. White Magic C qualifies for Priest, while range +2 requires level 35. Keep training White Magic toward B and A rather than diverting main-healer training into her Bow strength.

Once you obtain a healing staff, its healing bonus can combine with her personal +10 on the same spell. Keep her on the safe backline even with the staff.

Part 2: Bishop for uses and healing coverage

Aim for Bishop around level 35, Renown 8, and White Magic B, retaining its white-magic use advantage. Barrier mastery can add Resistance to adjacent allies; equip it only after learning it. At level 35, Distant Healing+ raises healing-spell range to +2. Use that distance to stay farther back.

Continue White Magic to A and plan ranged healing once Physic is learned. Check learned spells and remaining uses before deployment. White Magic B qualifies for Bishop; spell learning must be checked separately.

Another option uses Troubadour once unlocked for mounted support. Its reference requirements are level 35, Renown 8, Riding D, and Black or White Magic B, plus story quest conditions. Mounting keeps her with the party but prevents Battalion assignment. Train a mount you actually own instead of counting full-bond benefits before they are earned. Bring a second healer if incoming damage is heavy.

Part 3: Wiseman keeps dedicated healing; allocate divine classes as a team

At level 45 and White Magic A, switch to Wiseman after clearing segment 1. It improves White Magic uses and healing for a dedicated healer. Wiseman cannot use black magic, including previously learned Fire and Ice Blade. Without spare turns, there is no need to train extra Black Magic.

To keep both magic types and more spell uses, choose The Avatar after segment 4 with a Lotus of Reincarnation, S in Black or White Magic, and a 100% pass rate. Each Divine class allows only one unit. If another mage needs the extra uses more, keep Sofia in Wiseman. Fortify, Warp, and Resquia must be learned individually; a White Magic class does not grant them automatically.

Keep her as a long-range healer when the party repeatedly takes damage and needs dedicated healing. If someone with group healing, Resquia, or stronger damage can also handle healing, that unit can take her deployment slot.

Cover two fronts from a safe rear position

Use a safe backline position covering both frontlines. Check healing range before deciding which group to follow. Longer range still means single-target healing. If one side loses HP too quickly, assign another healer or recovery items. Low Speed and Defense make physical follow-ups dangerous. Decent Resistance does not make bows, spears, or fliers safe to tank.

Recruitment details

She becomes accessible in Chapter 5 of Theodora's route. Renown 2, support 1, and having given a gift make this the easiest route for early recruitment. Other routes have higher thresholds; see Sofia's recruitment requirements. Her recruitment is conditional, not automatic on Theodora's route.

Longer range still needs allocated healing actions

  • Range +2 still heals one target. Check her learned spells separately for group healing and displacement.
  • White Magic B qualifies for Bishop. Check separately whether Physic is learned.
  • Mounted units cannot take Battalions. Returning to Wiseman removes mount bonuses. See Battalion assignment restrictions.
  • Do not chase healing numbers while entering physical enemy range. Safe distance is a core benefit of her build.
