Playing this class

Hunter is a beginner stepping stone for swords and bows, adding +10 each to HP, Speed, and Dexterity growth, with no Strength bonus. Start here to improve Speed and accuracy. If damage is already low, patch Strength in the next class.

Hunter's exam and growth screen: Bow D and Sword D at the lower left are alternatives. Speed and Dexterity growth rise from 45 to 55 on the right, while Strength remains 45.

Suitable characters

  • Leda can take Hunter and Archer for an accuracy mastery, then switch to Dancer for extra actions.
  • Peter can start in Hunter, then use Charioteer to keep bows while improving Strength and Defense. Lilian can follow Archer and Sniper for dedicated ranged attacks.
  • Dietrich can start in Hunter when short on Speed and Dexterity. Diego can take Hunter → Myrmidon → Shido → Swordmaster, training Sword throughout.

Training priorities

Take the exam at the recommended level 5 and Renown 1. Either Bow D or Sword D is sufficient. Hunter uses swords and bows, has Movement 4, and has no innate class combat skill. Train the weapon needed for your next class; you do not need both just to enter Hunter.

Hunting Basics mastery gives Dexterity and Speed +1 each, helping early accuracy and follow-up thresholds. Hunter also provides training bonuses to Sword, Bow, and Infantry, making it useful for developing these skills.

When to move on

Around level 20, prepare a specialty class: Archer for pure bows, Myrmidon for swords, or Rogue for both weapons and exploration. Leda can also take Hunter → Rogue, then switch as soon as Dancer unlocks. Do not remain in Hunter too long.

Beginner mastery's +1 bonuses are useful early. Replace them once stronger abilities are available, and do not delay a specialty reclass for them.
