Catania’s sword Attack Speed and pegasus branch

A sword route lets Catania turn high Speed into reliable accuracy and Avoid. Follow Hunter → Myrmidon → Shido → Swordmaster, then The Blade for the endgame. In Cai’s story, she can instead become a Wing Soldier at the Specialty stage and ride a pegasus. Grounded or flying, watch the actual Attack Speed gap. Strength determines whether follow-ups kill, while HP determines whether she survives occasional hits.

Sword classes preserve her Speed advantage

She joins as a level-7 Soldier. Continue from there rather than restarting as a level-1 Commoner. The recommended Beginner class is Hunter, using Sword D for the exam and mastering Hunting Basics for Dexterity and Speed. She already exceeds its recommended level 5, so prepare the exam directly.

Around level 20 and Renown 4, become a Myrmidon, mainly requiring Sword C. Myrmidon provides Combat Arts +1 and Sword Crit +3, with DexRavaging Arts as its mastery reward. Around level 35 and Renown 8, become a Shido with Sword B, Combat Arts +2, and Sword Crit +5, mastering Ever Vigilant. Early training remains centered on Sword. Her Spear strength does not mean both must be trained equally.

The Master class Swordmaster recommends around level 45 and Sword A. Its Speed growth modifier of +20 widens the Attack Speed gap, alongside Combat Arts +3, Sword Crit +7, and mastery Astra. Swordmaster unlocks only at Salvation Section 3. Continue as Shido until then; reaching level 45 does not bypass the unlock.

For Divine, choose The Blade after Sword S and prepare the endgame qualification. It provides Sword Crit +10 and mastery Divine Insight. Keep training from Shido toward Swordmaster and The Blade.

Three separate Attack Speed thresholds matter

Punishing Squall grants Hit +20 when Attack Speed exceeds the enemy’s by at least 3, the first payoff from her Speed. Level-35 Wind My Friend+ adds further thresholds: Attack +3 at a lead of 5, and Avoid +20 at 8. Check all three separately; a lead of only 3 gives Hit alone.

Personal growths of Speed 55% and Dexterity 50% support follow-ups, accuracy, and criticals. However, the comparison uses Attack Speed, which is affected by weapon and other carried-item weight. Heavier equipment or faster enemies can remove a previously active bonus. High character Speed alone does not mean Avoid +20 in every fight.

Near Part 1’s end, around level 40, prioritize Speed, Dexterity, Strength, and HP. Personal Strength growth is a low 35%, determining whether two attacks kill. HP at 35% leaves some room for an occasional hit. Speed underpins this evasive sword build; Dexterity supports accuracy and criticals. High Hit still may not kill without enough Strength.

A pegasus adds mobility and Resistance

In Cai’s story, switching to Wing Soldier at the Specialty stage allows a Wild Pegasus. At bond level 5, it grants Speed +3 and Resistance +2, with Speed growth +15 percentage points and Resistance growth +10. This widens her Attack Speed lead and improves a dodge unit’s weakness against magic. Capture starts in Chapter 5 of Cai’s story. Mount growth bonuses total 25 percentage points at bond level 5. If no rare individual appears, train a wild animal of the same species first.

To keep flying later, choose Celestial Trooper. It uses her favored Sword, Spear, and Flying, seeking follow-ups through Speed while improving mobility. Prepare Flying C and Sword A or Spear A in advance. Grounded Swordmaster focuses more on sword damage and has a higher Speed growth modifier. Flying skills stop working after switching to a ground class.

Low defenses do not require an armored route

This route works through Avoid. Magic 35%, Defense 30%, Resistance 35%, and Charm 45% falling below expectations are not the first training problems to fix; normal growth in Luck at 40% is sufficient. Magic and Charm do not serve her main sword role, and low defenses do not require abandoning Speed. Total growth is 360, with no Bloodmark listed.

Her strengths are Sword, Spear, and Flying; her weakness is Heavy Armor. The overall rating is S, because Speed and personal accuracy support sword follow-ups, with dodging and counters on enemy phase too. Her weaknesses remain clear: HP, Defense, and Strength growth are not high. Confirm her Avoid advantage in the forecast and retain an HP safety margin. If Speed grows poorly, train her in another story and use Merge Causality to keep the higher value for each stat.

Spear arts also exploit Attack Speed

Quick Thrust grants Attack Speed +3 in combat, and Flowing Spear grants combat Avoid +10. Khamsin reduces enemy Hit to 0 only when it is already no higher than 20, so its threshold must be met first. Flying Spear makes the follow-up occur before the enemy counter, pairing with her Attack Speed advantage in classes that permit spears.

Knightly Senses adds Avoid against spear users, while Read the Winds targets bow users. Flitting Flier and Airfighter both require current flight and attacking first. Upgraded Diversion lowers adjacent enemies’ Hit, and Threaten+ lowers enemy Critical. Just-in-Time Defense has a 25% chance to add Protection when hit, while Armored Move affects only armor. Each bonus needs its own conditions.

She can also learn Wind and Heal, but sword and flying loadouts still follow class spell permissions. Half-Spike, Hurl, and Spear Buster are another set of options when wielding axes. Hurl requires an axe with Range 1–2; an ordinary melee axe cannot use it.

Leda’s story has the lowest early thresholds

She can appear in Chapter 3 of Cai’s story, requiring Support 3 and Renown 10; Chapter 4 for Dietrich, requiring Support 1 and Renown 8; Chapter 5 for Theodora, requiring Support 3 and Renown 7; and Chapter 4 for Leda, requiring Support 1 and Renown 2. Leda’s Support and Renown thresholds are lowest. Other stories must plan Support preparation alongside main-story progress.

She likes first-class items, people, and cooking. Her favorites are Common Coffee, Skin Balm, Eastern Black Silk, Eastern Earrings, and History of a Master. She likes Kitten Figurine, Mane Ornament, Gaudy Bangle, Horse-Grooming Kit, Magic-Trick Set, Orgus Coffee, Pack of Pastels, Select Coffee, and Southern Coffee. Energizing Ghosh, Garum, and Weak Cervi are acceptable.

In Pale Raven conversations, Sing Gently when she recalls her former master’s family falling into ruin or complains about a pegasus being picky with food; Spread Wings when she shares ways to pass the time; Threaten when she is hungry enough to eat bird food; Nod when she discusses how reputation affects her master or shows her scars; Stare when she says a first-class knight is right before you; and Sing Beautifully when she asks whether a bird’s song is first-class.

Keep flight equipment light to preserve Attack Speed

Default to Wing Soldier → Celestial Trooper with light equipment for back-line attacks. An actual Attack Speed lead improves Hit, Attack, and Avoid; improve Strength first if damage is low.

The level 35 upgrade still depends on the actual Attack Speed gap. If Magic develops better, choose a separate Levin Sword magic build. Invest in one of these two routes.

Class progression by stage

Part 1: Recruit early and choose physical or magical damage

Check damage before choosing an intermediate class. Strength and Magic growth are both 35%, with Speed at 55%. Even with high Speed, damage needs development. Flight helps cross obstacles and reach the rear; you can also level in other classes first.

  • Enough damage, but need mobility: Wing Soldier at level 20. Requirements are Renown 4, Sword or Spear C, and Flying D. Keep training the main weapon and Flying. Flowing Spear can add Avoid, and learned Quick Thrust can widen the Attack Speed gap. Bring an anti-cavalry weapon for more targets. Quick Thrust must be learned separately.
  • Insufficient physical damage: choose Brigand or Pugilist first. Brigand needs level 20, Renown 4, and Sword or Axe C; Pugilist needs Gauntlet C. Both improve damage. You do not need to visit Rogue, Brigand, and every fist class.
  • Alternative: develop Magic. Use a Levin Sword after Ornius Rider → Wing Soldier, or begin with regular magic classes. Early black-magic uses are limited, so you still lack attacks immediately after changing class. Train for magic offense and sword access; fists, swords, flight, and black and white magic require separate training investment.

For flight, choose weapons that preserve Attack Speed, then check total shield and accessory Weight. Flying mounted units cannot be assigned battalions. See battalion assignment restrictions.

Part 2: Turn mobility into safe kills

The flying core crosses obstacles to kill mages, but still checks bow coverage afterward. Flight helps find targets, but high Resistance or Avoid does not remove bow effectiveness. Kalla can help you remove archers first; still calculate damage from other ranged attacks.

Use the actual Attack Speed gap in combat.

Recheck the Attack Speed gap after equipping a heavier weapon, shield, or accessory, and plan combat around the new equipment.

Another physical approach stays in Pugilist at level 35 or switches to Ranger. Ranger uses bows to handle Part 2 fliers while training Sword for Part 3 Sword S. It needs level 35, Renown 8, Sword or Bow B, and its route unlock. You cannot copy it before it opens.

Another magic approach chooses its advanced class by unlocks. On a first Leda run without Caladrius unlocked, the Levin Sword plan transitions through Ranger. Only saves that have completed Cai's unlock should consider Caladrius: level 35, Renown 8, Black Magic B, Riding D. You can also stay in Shaman at level 35 to retain Speed; this is a separate branch from Caladrius.

Punishing Squall on the left gives Hit +20 with an Attack Speed lead of at least 3. The right also lists the bond and Renown needed to recruit her on Dietrich's route.
Punishing Squall on the left gives Hit +20 with an Attack Speed lead of at least 3. The right also lists the bond and Renown needed to recruit her on Dietrich's route.

Part 3: Flight, magic swords, or ground support

The flying core can finish in Celestial Trooper. It needs level 45, Sword or Spear A, Flying C, and clearing the Salvation Arc's first section. After mastering Lightning Reflexes, the follow-up moves before the enemy counter only when she initiates with at least 10 more Attack Speed. This differs from the level 35 skill's Avoid threshold.

High-investment physical branch: Sword S → divine class masteries → War Monk or winged classes. Continue from Pugilist and Ranger. Master The Blade and The Eternal, then switch to War Monk or a winged class. For a winged endpoint, Swordmaster mastery can additionally supply Astra for burst damage. Training, unlocks, and mastery cost more than direct flight.

Magic branch: High Savant centered on Levin Sword. Requirements are level 45, Sword B, Black Magic D, Riding D, and its unlock. It uses swords and black magic but loses white magic. Levin Sword is heavier than a light sword, so recalculate Attack Speed after equipping it. Carry a physical sword against mages if it also deals useful damage.

For ground evasion and refresh support, consider Ranger → Shadow Seeker → Dancer, giving up flight. For spears and Physic, train White Magic separately and consider Guardian. If Leda's team already has enough healing and Warp, the additional training may not pay off. A white-magic class does not automatically teach Physic or Warp, and flight cannot retain terrain Avoid bonuses.

Celestial Trooper: flying mobility and evasion skills support the Attack Speed gap strategy.

Choose slower back-line targets and recheck Attack Speed after weapon changes

Prioritize slower enemies she can handle in one round. Check the Attack Speed gap with the current weapon, then Hit and damage. If a heavy weapon removes the advantage, use a lighter one or choose another target. In flight, reach the rear and avoid bows; on the ground, use terrain for dodging. Flying units do not receive terrain Avoid.

Against armor she cannot damage, use a prepared magic sword or assign a dedicated mage. Do not ignore Levin Sword's weight just to damage armor and lose the entire Speed-gap package, including a previously available double.

Recruitment details

Chapter 4 of Leda's route provides tutorial recruitment: Renown 2, bond 1 with Leda, and one gift first. Cross-route Renown and bond requirements are higher. See Catania recruitment for timing.

Calculate Speed gaps and terrain benefits separately

  • Speed growth is 55%, but skills still check the actual Attack Speed gap after Weight.
  • Avoid +20 at level 35 still requires the current combat's Attack Speed gap.
  • Flying units do not receive forest Avoid.
  • Make the main route deal damage first; schedule separate training resources for Sword S and multiple class masteries.
