Playing this class

Soldier is a starting point for an armored frontline: HP and Defense growth +10 each, Strength and Dexterity +5 each, and Speed −5. Choose it to develop a physical tank. For a spear user who wants Speed for follow-ups, consider Ornius Rider first.

Soldier selected in the class list: the tooltip explicitly lists “Infantry” and “Armored,” and warns that anti-armor effectiveness and armor-countering effects apply.

Who suits this class

  • Buccar: Soldier → Armored Knight → Dreadnought → Castle Knight develops physical tanking throughout. Goliath can also take Soldier → Armored Knight.
  • Theodora: Keep her existing spear and improve HP, Strength, and Dexterity, then move into Armored Knight and Guardian. Choose this only if you accept the 5-point Speed growth penalty.
  • Catania joins as a Soldier. If you want swords or flight later, train toward that instead of keeping armor just because it was her starting class.

Training plan

Recommended exam level is 5, with Renown 1 and either Axe D or Spear D. It can use swords, spears, and axes, but proficiency bonuses favor Spear, Axe, and Heavy Armor. Train what you need for the next class.

With Movement 4 and an armor weakness, position on the frontline in advance and avoid armor-effective weapons and mages. Soldier has no inherent class skills and lacks Armored Knight’s offensive and defensive bonuses when the enemy initiates.

When to move on

Defense Basics mastery grants only Defense +1 and is not worth a long stay. Around level 20, with Heavy Armor E+ and Spear C or Axe C, move into Armored Knight. A spear user who is not meant to tank can switch to Ornius Rider at Riding E+ to avoid Soldier’s Speed growth penalty.
