Armored Dragoon into Celestial Trooper, then The Trident

The video primarily recommends mastering an armored class for Great Counter and Dragoon for Besieger, then staying in Celestial Trooper for Res, and explicitly says a Divine class is unnecessary. Giving her a Divine class slot should not be presented as the video's main recommendation.

Armored Counter into Bau Lord

The same video's flying branch: take Great Counter from an armored class and Besieger from Dragoon, then keep axes at Master tier and use Ambush on impassable terrain for more attack. Choose this separately from Celestial Trooper for Res as separate options; neither requires a Divine class.

Esmeralda’s wyvern-riding javelin build

Original video: Esmeralda’s best build · English-language video creator Jay Dunna

Esmeralda can keep the counterattacking ability learned in armor, then switch to Dragoon to throw spears from a wyvern. She already has good HP, Strength, and Defense. Flying puts those stats where they matter: crossing obstacles, killing enemies allies cannot reach, and protecting the back line. At Master tier, Celestial Trooper is preferred to improve Resistance. Choose Bau Lord to retain axes and a wyvern instead.

Restore the Hit lost by throwing attacks

Her spear Combat Arts deserve a build around them. Double Throw throws twice before the enemy counters, so damage need not depend entirely on ordinary follow-ups. A suitable light weapon and Attack Speed can also earn later attacks. But this art has a -30 Hit modifier: do not judge it only by the total damage of two hits.

At level 35, Throwing Arm+ gives throwing attacks +20 Hit and +4 Attack, forming a permanent core of this setup. Use Focused Throw for one reliable hit, with another 20 Hit from the art itself. Use Yawning Throw for a heavier throw and Tempest Spear up close. These choices address consecutive hits, accuracy, and melee combat separately. Keep more than just Double Throw.

Use Tempest Spear up close; choose Focused Throw or Double Throw at range based on the target’s Avoid
Use Tempest Spear up close; choose Focused Throw or Double Throw at range based on the target’s Avoid

Take Great Counter in armor before riding a wyvern

Start with Soldier at Beginner tier and prioritize Armored Knight at intermediate tier. The goal is mastery for Great Counter: +3 Attack when the enemy initiates. Her HP and Defense suit receiving attacks, and this ability stays useful after changing class.

Armor is not the only intermediate option. Wing Soldier prepares Flying earlier but sacrifices some Strength growth; Brigand builds more Strength. Still, prioritize armor if the main goals are spears and enemy-phase counters. Charioteer is possible but is not the first choice here.

At Advanced tier, switch to Dragoon. If Flying lags behind, use subject books bought in town. Dragoon mastery Besieger specifically addresses enemies on favorable terrain, granting +20 combat Hit. Fly over to enemies hiding in forests, and add Focused Throw when you need more reliability. Solving movement and Hit together is the reason for taking a flying path.

Dragoon’s own Strength growth modifier is modest, so let the mount help. Wild Bau adds Strength and Dexterity growth. The displayed combination gives 70% HP, 60% Strength, 55% Defense, and 35% Resistance. Those figures include class and other conditions; they are not her personal growth rates. Resistance remains weaker than her physical durability, so avoid concentrated mage fire despite the extra mobility.

Celestial Trooper improves Resistance

Dreadnought works, but she cannot learn the armored mobility improvement, making it harder to keep up. With Defense already high, using her class to add mobility brings a more direct benefit. Low Magic growth also gives little reason to make her a caster just to improve Resistance.

Celestial Trooper is preferred at Master tier. It gives +15 HP growth, +15 Resistance growth, and another +5 Defense growth, addressing her weaker side. After mastering Lightning Reflexes, initiating with at least 10 more Attack Speed than the enemy moves her follow-up before their counterattack. She usually cannot reach that gap. Count it toward kills only against slower targets; learning the mastery does not mean two rounds of attacks before every counter.

Bau Lord is another choice. Its mastery Ambush adds 4 Attack while on terrain that cannot be crossed on foot, converting flying positions into more damage. Both classes use her physical stats well. Choose Celestial Trooper for Resistance, or stay with Bau Lord for wyvern terrain damage and axes. This recommendation stops at Master tier and does not require another Divine qualification.

Pack for the enemies you need to kill

Use Grasitha as a main weapon for Double Throw, or the lighter Sinza's Trident. Neither spear must be reserved exclusively for her. This team gives the other trident to a teammate and still deals damage with the magic spear.

Bring Ridersbane for cavalry. Flying lets her catch these mobile targets and apply effective damage where needed. Against armor, choose by class: Celestial Trooper uses Flyssa, while Dragoon or Bau Lord can carry Hammer. Levin Sword is an option, but not her preferred answer to armor.

Keep an upgraded Bronze Spear or Wooden Spear for higher Hit and lighter Weight, plus Javelin for throwing. Wooden Spear and Bronze Spear are melee weapons. Double Throw requires a Range-1–2 spear and cannot use these light melee spears. Whether a light throwing spear earns another round depends on the actual Attack Speed in that combat. Finally, pack a Concoction for self-healing away from the group.

Build abilities around Throwing Arm+, Great Counter, and Besieger, then equip spear-related abilities she has already learned. Consider Master-tier mastery only after obtaining it, rather than treating unfinished mastery as available.

Fly to threats your teammates cannot reach

A flying frontliner’s value lies in choosing targets. Remove a dangerous enemy beyond an obstacle, or intercept an Elephant Rider threatening your healer. Flying crosses barriers even Ornius mounts cannot pass, keeping her useful on the other side of the battlefield.

High HP and Defense let her remain at the front more safely than fragile fliers, but dismount against archers. Physical durability does not let her ignore magic either. Use mobility to reduce unfavorable fights rather than fly into every enemy’s range.

In the same development showcase, replaying Part 2 with a Dragoon path produced better Strength, Defense, Speed, and Dexterity. However, the two screens differ by 5 levels and include random growth. The directly noticeable change is freedom from armored movement: she can arrive in time and choose her targets.

Start with an armored throwing-spear frontliner

Prioritize Soldier → Armored Knight → Dreadnought, then Castle Knight in Part 3. Use her high Strength and Defense to hold the physical front line with throwing spears.

She gains throwing-spear bonuses at level 20, with more useful Hit and damage after the level 35 upgrade. If her Speed develops well and she qualifies for flying classes, she can become a mobile spear thrower instead.

Class progression by stage

Exams require the right level, Renown, seal, proficiencies, and special class unlocks together. If recruited late, continue from her current level and class.

Part 1: train Spear and Heavy Armor first

MilestoneExam preparationPurpose
Level 5 SoldierRenown 1, Spear or Axe DStart with spears/axes and continue your main weapon.
Level 20 Armored KnightRenown 4, Heavy Armor E+, Spear or Axe CBuild physical durability; master Great Counter for more Attack when attacking second.
Level 35 DreadnoughtRenown 8, Heavy Armor D, Spear or Axe BRetain the high-Defense front-line role; master Focused Counter for enemy-phase accuracy.

When spears are your main weapon, keep training Spear. You do not need both Spear and Axe at high ranks for exams. Armored throwing needs survival first, giving her chances to counter archers and ranged enemies with 1–2 range spears.

Carry two throwable spears and swap effective weapons to match enemies. Bring a Hammer against armored foes while training Axe. Prioritize Tempest Spear and learned throwing arts. Double Throw suits targets needing two hits, but lowers Hit, so check the preview first. For a slow tank, equip a heavy shield and calculate follow-ups using her Attack Speed with the shield equipped.

Esmeralda's Castle Knight exam preview requires Heavy Armor C and Spear or Axe A. Her Spear requirement is met, and the current pass rate is 100%.

Part 2: armor or flight

Three ways to develop an armored spear thrower
Keep Dreadnought for durability

The armored main route keeps her frontline Dreadnought role while preparing Spear A and Heavy Armor C. She has no verified readily usable armored movement skill. Deploy her near the front so she is not still catching up after combat starts.

Build armor first, then switch to Dragoon

Another approach trains armor first and switches to flight at the start of Part 2. If early Speed and Dexterity are poor, develop Defense in armor before moving to Dragoon to solve travel problems. There is an actual example of this, but she will not automatically become a fast flier in every run. Dragoon requires level 35, Renown 8, Flying C, Spear or Axe B, and its unlock. If your save lacks access, keep her ground role instead of only training Flying while waiting.

Switch early to Ornius Rider or Wing Soldier

An earlier switch to Ornius Rider or Wing Soldier prioritizes Speed and mobility at the cost of some armored durability. This is a different plan from building armor before flight. Changing the final class does not give her both routes' growth benefits.

Part 3: finish in Castle Knight or a flying class

Default to Castle Knight. It requires level 45, Spear or Axe A, Heavy Armor C, and its Part 3 unlock. Mastery gives Intercept, reducing incoming damage by 5 when attacked. Spear proficiency adds Hit; Great Counter and Focused Counter support enemy-phase combat. High Defense pairs with Heavy Break, but calculate kills without assuming it triggers.

Flying endpoints include Bau Lord and Celestial Trooper. The former requires level 45, Flying C, and Spear or Axe A; the latter requires level 45, Flying C, and Spear or Sword A and is female-only. Both must be unlocked. Keep using throwing spears for her personal ability and change shields to match physical or magical threats. Flying-mounted units cannot be assigned battalions. See battalion assignment restrictions.

A more demanding option uses swords to add Speed. Take Ornius Rider → Myrmidon → Shido in Part 1, prepare Sword S, then master The Blade for Divine Insight in Part 3 before returning to Celestial Trooper. Sword is her weakness and needs extra training. Shido requires level 35 and Sword B; The Blade also has Part 3 exclusive eligibility and limited slots.

For multi-route training, divide work around her weaknesses. Develop Strength and Defense in armor on one route, then use flight, Guardian, or magic classes on another for Speed, Resistance, and other gaps. Merge in Part 3, taking the higher value for each stat. On a single route, continue your current plan without restarting.

Hold chokepoints with throwing spears

Place her in a chokepoint or on physical enemies' approach, using throwing spears to cover melee and two-space counters. If necessary, spend the turn using a defensive Combat Art and holding position rather than charging every turn. Hit-focused arts reduce misses, but still check Double Throw's actual Hit.

Throwing Arm's two stages

Check Throwing Arm+ on the right and Brawn above it, then compare the equipped spear and shield in the center. Throwing bonuses depend on the abilities and weapon actually equipped.
Check Throwing Arm+ on the right and Brawn above it, then compare the equipped spear and shield in the center. Throwing bonuses depend on the abilities and weapon actually equipped.

Her biggest problems are concentrated magic attacks and falling behind. Throwing spears can counter mages from two spaces, but calculate damage and check support range before taking several at once. Brawn reduces weight to 80%, a reduction of only 20%.

Recruitment details

She joins automatically in Chapter 2 of Dietrich's route. Other routes require “Esmeralda's Request”: Cai needs Renown 7 and support 2, Leda Renown 6 and support 3, and Theodora Renown 9 and support 3. Cross-route equipment and training windows differ from her own route. See the recruitment page.

Secure Hit before using Double Throw

  • Armored movement is slow. Compensate through deployment or prepare a mobile class in advance.
  • Double Throw lowers Hit. Make sure crucial attacks will connect.
  • Recalculate Attack Speed with the shield equipped. Brawn removes only part of the weight.
  • Recruitment may not bring her exclusive spear across routes. Use your existing throwing spears and acquired arts if you do not have it.
  • Choose armor, flight, or Sword S first. Training all three directions takes extra time.

Joins the journey after being rescued

Esmeralda lived in a coastal fishing village but nearly became a sacrifice to a sea beast. After Dietrich rescued her, she traveled with him toward the Heroic Games.

Exposing the sea beast sacrifice scamLight spoilers

The many livestock bones on the shore make Fabio suspicious: someone lured the monster with livestock before presenting sacrifice as the solution. The three return to the village to find the mastermind. Esmeralda also proposes wishing for a sturdy warship as tournament champion, allowing Dietrich to face the sea monster again.

Individual ending: Returns home to fishSpoilers

In her individual epilogue, she returns to her mother and continues fishing in her hometown. She takes up her spear against any sea beast threatening the village, earning fame as a legendary fisher. She later marries a childhood friend and has five children.
