Ludia maintains follow-ups and Avoid with swords

Ludia's sword route goes Gladiator → Myrmidon → Shido → Swordmaster, then considers The Calamity. Speed gives follow-ups and Avoid, but Strength growth is only 35%, so enemies may survive both hits. Check damage throughout training.

Train swords all the way to Swordmaster

Gladiator is the recommended Beginner class, with reference level 5, Renown 1, and any D in Sword, Axe, or Gauntlet. She already joins as Gladiator and can focus Sword immediately. Mastery Attack Basics gives Strength +1, helping her low Strength a little.

For the intermediate tier, the recommended switch is Myrmidon at level 20 and Renown 4, requiring Sword C. Myrmidon has Sword Crit +3 and grants DexRavaging Arts on mastery. This keeps training in her existing Sword strength rather than opening an entirely new weapon discipline. At the advanced tier, switch to Shido at the recommended level 35 and Renown 8, requiring Sword B. Its class bonus rises to Sword Crit +5, and mastery grants Ever Vigilant.

Choose Swordmaster at the master tier, with level 45 and Sword A recommended. Its +20 Speed growth modifier further improves her speed and evasion. Sword Crit rises to +7, and mastering it grants Astra, which attacks five times in succession. Swordmaster unlocks in Division 3 of the Promised One’s story. Keep fighting as a Shido until it opens; reaching level 45 does not unlock it automatically. For a divine class, choose The Calamity, which requires either Sword S or Bow S and grants Divine Will on mastery. On this main route, you will normally keep training Sword to S.

A Pegasus can boost Resistance early in Cai’s story

Cai’s story offers another intermediate branch: change to Wing Soldier and ride a Wild Pegasus. At bond level 5 between rider and mount, it gives Speed +3 and Resistance +2, along with +15% Speed growth and +10% Resistance growth. Both help because she relies on Speed for evasion and has only 20% personal Resistance growth.

Capture unlocks in Cai Chapter 5. Bond Level 5 gives a total growth bonus of 25%; until finding rare individuals, common wild individuals of the same species have the same total. This branch requires extra Flying training: Wing Soldier needs Flying qualification as well as Sword.

Falcon makes initiating follow-ups easier

Falcon grants Attack Speed +3 only when she initiates combat. Combined with her 55% personal Speed growth, this makes the follow-up threshold easier to reach. After learning Perception+ at level 35, she gains another 20 Avoid in combat whenever she can make a follow-up. The Attack Speed boost on initiation and the Avoid boost when a follow-up is possible are two conditions that work together.

She is strong in Sword, Spear, and Infantry, and weak in Axe and Black Magic. Training Sword directly follows her strengths toward Swordmaster and The Calamity, keeping training focused. Aside from Speed, however, her stats are unremarkable, with 305% total growth. From late Part 1 into Part 2, she can struggle to kill enemies even when she doubles. Her strongest period leans toward the Promised One’s story, and her overall rating is B.

Keep checking Strength at level 40

Around level 40 near the end of Part 1, prioritize checking Speed, Dexterity, Strength, and HP. Speed must sustain her follow-ups and evasion, while Dexterity supports Hit and Crit. Her 35% Strength growth is the key to whether she deals enough damage; high Speed alone is not enough. HP gives her a margin for the occasional hit. She lacks the Defense to withstand repeated attacks head-on.

Even if Magic, Defense, Resistance, and Charm fall below their expected values, they are not the first priorities for this evasive sword build. Magic and Charm do not drive her main damage, while her two defensive stats are chiefly addressed by reducing how often she gets hit. Average Luck is sufficient for its contribution to Dodge. If her Speed grows poorly in one story, you can later use Merge Causality with her counterpart from another story to take the higher value for each stat.

Haze Slice and Infantry evasion have separate conditions

Haze Slice costs 2 durability, adds 3 Might, and grants Avoid +10 during combat. Gale Blow costs 5 durability, adds 7 Might, and has a chance equal to half her Speed as a percentage to grant another 5 Attack when attacking. The former directly improves evasion in that combat; the latter uses Speed for a chance at extra damage. Do not count the latter’s bonus as guaranteed damage.

Evasion gives Infantry a 3% chance of Avoid +100 when attacked. Its occasional activation cannot replace dependable base Avoid. Sniper Evasion grants Avoid +10 only when fighting an enemy at least three spaces away. Close Quarters reduces adjacent enemies’ Movement by 1, and is also restricted to Infantry. Recheck these class restrictions if you switch to a flying class.

Other combat arts include Wrath Strike, Tempest Spear, Half Spike, and Mighty Fist. The first two are accurate basic sword and spear arts; Half Spike adds Avoid during combat, and Mighty Fist is an accurate basic brawling art. Prioritize Sword proficiency on the main route rather than spreading training to equip every learnable move.

All four routes require negotiations and her request. After meeting Support and Renown requirements, speak to the fisherman at Callianeira Port southeast of the capital, then return and report to her. Visiting the port alone does not finish recruitment. Travel from East Amalthea Station to Feronia Station. With stations open, the capital round trip is about 5 turns; reserve more time if they are not unlocked.

Build Strength before maintaining follow-ups

Improve Strength, then secure follow-ups. Pugilist into Ranger balances growth; stay with swords to save training.

She gains Attack Speed +3 when initiating, then Avoid if she can follow up. From level 20, Pugilist develops Strength and Speed; Ranger at level 35 trains swords. For fewer training detours, stay with Myrmidon and Shido. She starts performing in her twenties, with stronger conditional Avoid after level 35, but fast enemies can still disable it.

Training route by stage

Part 1: build Strength around recruitment timing

Recruiting early leaves more time to build Strength. She joins late on Cai’s and Dietrich’s routes. Move into a Specialty class from her current level and proficiencies; do not force level 35 before Part 1 ends.

Specialty choiceWhen to prepareWhat it fixes
PugilistLevel 20, Gauntlet CBuilds Strength and Speed together so she can deal damage as well as dodge; Gauntlet needs extra training
BrigandLevel 20, Sword or Axe CBuilds Strength through physical growth; using axes is not mandatory
MyrmidonLevel 20, Sword CConcentrates training along the sword route; low Strength may remain an issue

Pugilist needs extra Gauntlet training; swords save resources. Compare the cost when Sword is ready but Gauntlet is untrained. Swords can also build Strength and support evasion without detouring to Pugilist. Her Magic is low, so do not copy the other two dodge characters’ magic routes.

Equipment comes down to two questions: can she follow up, and can she kill? If light weapons preserve follow-ups but barely damage high-Defense targets, add Strength or change targets. Consider heavier, harder-hitting weapons only when Attack Speed has room to spare. Do not load her with heavy shields and accessories, then assume conditional Avoid is always active. Use existing equipment to maintain her current damage first.

Ludia’s Perception+ description: Avoid +20 during combat when she can make a follow-up attack.

Part 2: choose a branch around level 35

At level 35, stay in Pugilist or change to Ranger. Staying saves a class change. Ranger uses bows against Part 2 fliers while training Sword toward Part 3’s S rank. Its exam needs Sword or Bow B and its unlock first.

Another route is Warrior into Battlemaster, still primarily using swords. It prioritizes Strength and uses her natural Speed foundation. Level 35 Warrior can be prepared with Sword B, so there is no need to force an axe specialization. This and Ranger are separate branches, rather than classes to train one after another. A Myrmidon or Shido version with sufficient damage can stay in its current class for evasion and finishing weakened enemies.

Check initiation and incoming-attack forecasts separately here. Attack Speed +3 when initiating is not permanent Speed on enemy phase, while her passive Avoid requires a follow-up. Before ending the turn, check whether she can still double and gain Avoid without initiation Speed.

Part 3: finish the build before borrowing Divine masteries

Choose a Part 3 direction by investment
Swordmaster route
  • Transition: level 45 and Sword A, after unlocking Swordmaster
  • Tradeoff: focused training, with Cleansing Blade for matching enemies; insufficient Strength can still prevent kills
Battlemaster for Strength
  • Transition: Warrior into Battlemaster, with level 45 and a relevant weapon such as Sword at A
  • Tradeoff: continue building Strength while retaining swords, with different growth and skills from the pure sword route
Borrow Divine masteries before gauntlets or flight
  • Transition: at Sword S, borrow The Blade and The Eternal for mastery, then return to War Monk or a wing class
  • Tradeoff: expensive extra mastery and qualifications;

The costly approach centers on returning to your intended class after borrowing masteries. The Blade’s Divine Insight adds Speed and The Eternal’s Divine Might adds Strength. Both need Part 3 qualifications, proficiencies, slots, and mastery training; Sword S is only one step. For a wing-class endpoint, you can also master Swordmaster for a burst combat art.

Ludia’s Swordmaster screen shows Combat Arts +3 and Sword Crit +7 in the class panel, with Perception+ equipped below. After returning to the final class, check class abilities and equipped skills separately.
Ludia’s Swordmaster screen shows Combat Arts +3 and Sword Crit +7 in the class panel, with Perception+ equipped below. After returning to the final class, check class abilities and equipped skills separately.

War Monk requires level 45, Gauntlet B, White Magic D, and its own unlock. Celestial Trooper needs level 45, Flying C, and Sword or Spear A, and is women-only. White Magic and Flying cost separate training; choose the final class before arranging equipment.

Choose slow enemies she can damage

Choose targets slower than her that she can actually hurt. She suits player-phase finishing blows and flank cleanup, then physical enemy-phase fights when safe. Check damage against armor and follow-ups against fast sword or fist users. Slow targets may be too tough; fast targets may deny her conditional Avoid. High Speed alone fixes neither issue.

Recheck the forecast before equipping heavy weapons. Losing follow-ups costs both damage and Avoid, potentially reversing the benefit. Leave healing and an escape route when she tanks through evasion. Check the next round against the worst case without the Avoid effect where possible; player-phase acceleration cannot cover enemy phase.

Recruitment

She becomes available earlier on Leda's and Theodora's routes and later on Cai's and Dietrich's. For long-term training, complete her request and recruitment requirements on your route first. See the Ludia recruitment page. Do not infer her available training window from a level 7 starting template.

Ludia’s recruitment window on Theodora’s route lists Bond Level 3, Renown 7, and difficult negotiation at lower left; the green dot on the right marks her location. Check requirements separately by route.

Enemy phase has no initiation Speed bonus

  • Stacking Avoid without fixing Strength. She must kill or meaningfully weaken enemies to justify a long-term combat slot.
  • Including initiation acceleration during enemy attacks. Check follow-ups separately on player and enemy phases.
  • Combining Ranger, Warrior, and fist masteries into one mandatory chain. They solve different problems. Pick a main route, then address necessary weaknesses.
  • Equating a possible follow-up with Celestial Trooper's early follow-up. Lightning Reflexes also requires initiation and the specified Attack Speed gap. An active Avoid passive alone is insufficient.
