Benditz’s training, class routes, and recruitment

Original: Benditz’s training, recommended classes, and recruitment requirements; Game8

Benditz joins as a Charioteer. Staying in Charioteer is recommended because his personal skill and level-based skill only activate there. For higher-tier alternatives, choose Forest Knight or Bow Knight, then The Calamity as his Divine class.

Hit +20 is tied to Charioteer

Wheeled Warrior grants 20 Hit while mounted as a Charioteer. Changing to Forest Knight or Bow Knight no longer meets the requirement to be a Charioteer. His level 35 Charioteer enhancement also requires Charioteer and adds Smash uses. Both unique advantages are tied to the same class.

His base growths are HP 50%, Strength 35%, Magic 20%, Speed 35%, Dexterity 50%, Defense 35%, Resistance 25%, Luck 30%, and Charm 35%, totaling 315. Dexterity and HP stand out, while Strength and Speed are modest. Charioteer has good Hit but weaker damage per attack and follow-up potential. Address those separately when training Benditz.

He excels in Bow, Authority, and Riding, but struggles with Infantry. Staying in Charioteer lets him use bows through his strengths and keep developing with a mount. There is no rush to become an infantry unit just for a higher-tier class. Other classes cost him his exclusive Hit bonus and extra Smash uses.

Chariot armor grants defense but prevents dodging

Charioteer is a Specialty class using only bows and Riding. Its armor raises Protection but prevents evasion. Charioteer Tactics provides commands such as mounting, dismounting, and charging, while Charioteer's Path raises growth rates as levels increase. You can therefore stay in this Specialty class throughout the game.

Since he cannot evade, HP and Defense must absorb incoming hits. Avoid from mounts and skills is ineffective, so do not position him as a dodge tank. With only 5 Movement, his reach and ability to keep up are limited. Even charging cannot match regular cavalry’s high Movement.

Charioteer mastery grants Charger, which raises Protection after charging until the next player phase. You must first master the class and use the relevant command; this differs from the class’s permanent defensive bonus. Extra Smash uses from his level-based skill and the mastery effect after charging also activate separately.

The main route keeps him in Charioteer from recruitment through the end. Continue developing bow combat arts and skills and collecting items through the middle, late, and final stages.

Use mounts to improve damage and durability

Pair Charioteer or Forest Knight with a Ferghanan Horse. At bond level 5, it raises Strength and Defense and provides corresponding growth bonuses. Mounts caught on Cai’s route or in Part 3 can improve stats and growths further. Combined with Charioteer's Path, they let a Specialty class keep developing.

Catching, raising, assigning, and bonding with mounts all require preparation. Their bonuses are separate from Benditz’s base growths. Part 1 on Cai’s route supports these preparations; other protagonists cannot copy them at the same point. If you cannot find a rare mount, a regular individual of the same species still provides growth bonuses. Check the selected individual’s distribution.

Two sources give different Charioteer Dexterity growth bonuses: Game8 lists +25, while GameWith lists +15. Both confirm Dexterity growth and his exclusive Hit bonus. The stage-by-stage setup uses the site’s class values.

Prepare each stage’s mount according to its acquisition requirements.

Bow Knight gives up his exclusive abilities

The bow-cavalry alternative is Charioteer → Forest Knight → Bow Knight. Forest Knight requires Riding D and Bow B; Bow Knight continues toward Bow A. Compared with staying in Charioteer, this trades for higher-tier cavalry Movement and bow-class abilities to cover a different area, but loses Wheeled Warrior.

Forest Knight mastery grants Hunter's Eye, adding 3 Attack on bow follow-ups. Bow Knight has Bow Hit +10 and masters the high-Hit, high-Critical Hunter's Cross. Benditz has 35% base Speed growth, and Hunter's Eye only adds Attack on follow-ups, not ordinary shots. Each mastery must be trained separately.

Choose The Calamity for the Divine route. Start in Charioteer, develop through Forest Knight and Bow Knight, then change once a chosen proficiency reaches S and you meet the Divine unlock and item requirements. This Divine class has Locktouch and exploration-related skills; mastering Divine Will raises Luck. It does not retain the personal Hit bonus or extra Smash uses restricted to Charioteer.

There is no fixed transition schedule for the Divine route. Follow the bow-cavalry alternative during the early Forest Knight and Bow Knight stages. With no fixed class-change level, take the exam once Renown and the required proficiencies are sufficient. Unlock the class and prepare the pass first; you can attempt it before the recommended level.

He offers command support beyond bow arts

Curved Shot adds 4 Might and 10 Hit for reliable ranged shots. Encloser lowers enemy Movement by 3 on hit until the next player phase, serving a Rein role. Spiral Shot has a higher Might bonus and a chance equal to half Dexterity to raise Attack further. The three arts favor accuracy, control, and conditional damage respectively. Do not choose solely by listed Might.

Learn Spiral Shot at Bow B. Watchfulness: other skills also require their corresponding proficiency ranks; he does not join with everything learned. Bow arts need a usable bow and enough durability. Charging and Smash instead use Charioteer commands and their use limits, with different resource costs.

Authority provides Dexterity Command, raising allies’ Dexterity by 2 until the next player phase. This offers support beyond attacking and suits Benditz’s strength in Authority. Judge the value of helping allies with this action; attack first when you can secure a key kill.

He can also learn lances, axes, and black and white magic. Charioteer cannot cast or use these melee weapons. Although he can learn Wind and basic healing spells, they do not justify leaving Charioteer.

Knight Sense adds Avoid against lance enemies, while Knight’s Vanguard raises Protection when cavalry initiates combat. Their conditions differ, and Charioteer cannot evade, making Avoid bonuses ineffective. On the bow-cavalry branch, reassess actual equipment and activation requirements; Charioteer’s exclusive Hit and extra uses do not carry over. Learnable Wind and basic white magic also require a class that can cast. They cannot be used while staying in Charioteer.

Strength, HP, and Defense need attention before more accuracy

Around level 40 near the end of Part 1, prioritize Strength, HP, Defense, and Speed. His 35% Strength growth limits damage; HP and Defense absorb the hits he cannot evade; Speed affects whether he can regain follow-ups. Dexterity already has base growth, class bonuses, and personal Hit support. Reaching its expected value is enough; do not focus only on maximizing Dexterity.

Magic and Charm are lower priorities for a physical bow attacker. Compare Luck and Resistance against their expected values too. Charioteer cannot evade, so check actual damage taken from spells. If growth falls well short, use Merge Causality with the same character trained on another route to take the higher value for each stat.

Recruitment requires Bond Level 3 and Renown 9 for Cai, Bond Level 2 and Renown 7 for Dietrich, Bond Level 1 and Renown 8 for Theodora, and Bond Level 3 and Renown 7 for Leda. The two sites disagree on his first appearance chapter for Theodora and Leda, so those chapters remain uncertain.

Strategy Manuscript is a suitable gift. Game8 also recommends Eastern Black Silk, Eastern Earrings, and History of a Master. GameWith additionally recommends Tales of Adventure, Spirit Board Game, Eastern Board Game, and Ceremonial Spear. Horse-Grooming Kits and coffee are alternatives. Treat the preference tiers in the two recommendations separately.

Stay in Charioteer and develop the mount

Keep Benditz as Charioteer by default. Use its Hit +20 and extra Smash uses first, then improve his mount and forge his bow.

He can use the chariot's accuracy and Smash benefits immediately on joining and can stay in the class after level 35. Further level-ups and mount development improve growth. Take a Strength detour only if needed; moving to an advanced class loses these two features.

Training route by stage

Part 1: stay in Charioteer and train Bow and mount bonds

He joins as a Charioteer, so train Bow and mount bonds directly. After late recruitment, continue from his current level instead of returning to level 20. Retaking the Charioteer exam requires level 20, Renown 4, Bow C, and Riding D; it is not available at level 5.

Focus on Bow if staying in Charioteer. You can prepare a Ferghanan Horse early, but acquisition timing and individual skills across routes remain unconfirmed. Use a mount you have already caught and developed.

Wheeled Warrior's +20 Hit requires Charioteer; ordinary cavalry does not inherit it. If Strength is low, check single-shot damage after forging the bow first. High Hit fixes misses, not Strength.

Part 2: bows at range and Smash for groups

You can stay in Charioteer through Part 2. Moving to an advanced class loses its chariot-only Hit bonus and may not improve damage.

Train Spiral Shot at Bow B. Use single bow attacks at range and look for Smash coverage when enemies gather. Charioteer mastery Charger adds Protection only when charging; it does not affect Smash.

Extra Smash uses
Level 20: +1 useSmash uses
Level 35: +2 usesUpgraded Smash uses

Both require him to be a Charioteer.

The bonus increases how many times Smash can be used. Hits per attack and per bow art remain unchanged.

Chariot Stagger+ grants 2 additional Smash uses while he is a Charioteer. His current Charioteer class appears at the upper left, with personal and class skills in separate columns on the right. This does not add two hits to every attack.
Chariot Stagger+ grants 2 additional Smash uses while he is a Charioteer. His current Charioteer class appears at the upper left, with personal and class skills in separate columns on the right. This does not add two hits to every attack.

Part 3: detour only if Strength is lacking

Keep Charioteer by default. Class growth still improves after levels 35 and 45, but Strength and Resistance still need attention. Check current battle forecasts before charging into enemies.

A high-investment alternative uses Warrior or Battlemaster for Strength, trains Axe S, masters The Eternal for Divine Might, then returns to Charioteer. It aims for one-shot bow kills at the cost of Speed growth and substantial training time. Stay in Charioteer throughout if you want less training.

For Strength training, Warrior requires level 35, Renown 8, and Axe, Gauntlet, or Sword B; Battlemaster requires level 45, A in a relevant weapon, and completion of the first segment. The Eternal additionally needs the relevant weapon S, the Part 3 divine unlock, Scales of Judgement, a 100% exam success rate, and an eligibility slot. Divine Might's +10 Strength requires completed mastery and equipping the skill; passing the exam is insufficient.

For ordinary mounted archery, switch to Forest Knight. Its exam requires level 35, Renown 8, Bow B, and Riding D. Then prepare Bow Knight at level 45, Bow A, Riding D, and the Kalla temple unlock. This loses Hit +20 and extra Smash uses. The full benefits after reclassing remain untested, so favor Charioteer.

Charioteer: ordinary training can remain in this specialty class.

Check Smash coverage and the finishing position

Look for area opportunities with Smash first. Chariots cannot dodge, and Benditz has limited Strength and Resistance. Check the path, coverage, and final position, especially against concentrated magic. Shoot a distant target if you can kill it reliably. Do not force a charge without good coverage.

For a four-hit bow art, Mars's Blessing can offset its Hit penalty. His learning requirements for Bow A Haphazard+ remain unconfirmed. Use the setup once he has learned it in your save and its description matches.

Prioritize mounts already developed, stabilizing accuracy on the ordinary chariot route first.

Recruitment

He is recruitable on all four Part 1 routes, with differing Renown and Bond. Theodora has a lower Bond threshold, but he is still not immediately available. See Benditz recruitment details. Train from his actual joining level rather than going backward for early arrows.

Staying in Charioteer still needs Strength and Resistance

  • Wheeled Warrior is Charioteer-only. Forest Knight and Bow Knight do not benefit.
  • Smash +2 means extra uses. Normal bow attack counts are unchanged.
  • After level 45, check actual Strength and Resistance. Level-ups are random; simulation values are for comparison.
  • A full Charioteer route still needs mount development. It saves the training spent on reclass detours.
  • Learn Haphazard before investing in its supporting setup.

An unfulfilled dream of becoming a general

Benditz was a temple centurion before losing his post to a scandal and becoming a mercenary. Though he always calls himself General, becoming a real general remains his enduring dream.

A confession upon reuniting with the Promised OneSpoilers

When reunited with the Promised One, Benditz admits that he was expelled from the temple for lying and stealing as a centurion. He also admits that his eyepatch conceals his identity rather than a wound. After confessing his past, he still intends to pursue his goal of becoming a general.

After the war: Solo endingSpoilers

In his solo epilogue, Benditz's service against Balor finally earns him a generalship in the Dagdan Empire. Severe back pain soon forces him to retire; back in civilian life, he boasts even more loudly about his time as a general.
