Ultand: spear support and White Magic healing

Ultand suits Sentinel, combining spears and healing. Start with Diviner, then Shaman and Ovate to keep Black and White Magic, prepare Spear A later, and switch to Sentinel. The Divine follow-up is The Trident. For healing alone, take Bishop into Wiseman instead. Cai's route also offers mounted training through Troubadour. Her strength is sustained healing alongside the team; her Speed does not support reliable follow-ups.

Bridge through both magic types before preparing Spear

The beginner recommendation is Diviner, at a reference level of 5 and Renown 1, with either Black Magic D or White Magic D. Start with healing while building both magic proficiencies. Mastery skill Magic Basics adds 1 Magic and 1 Resistance. If she already joins as Diviner, continue from there rather than returning to Commoner.

Intermediate Shaman is recommended at level 20, Renown 4, and Black Magic C. It adds Black Magic uses and Magic Hit +3, while mastery skill DexBinding Curse lowers adjacent enemies' Dexterity. Advanced Ovate is recommended at level 35, Renown 8, and Black Magic B, raising Magic Hit to +5. Mastery skill SpdBinding Curse lowers adjacent enemies' Speed. Ovate is also available on every protagonist's route, preventing the whole chain from depending on one route's exclusive class.

For the master stage, switch to Sentinel around level 45 with Spear A prepared. Spear can lag behind while you focus on magic early, so use arena training and guidebooks to catch up. Sentinel uses spears and White Magic, with Combat Arts +3, Magic Heal +10, and a White Magic use bonus. Defense growth +10 and Resistance growth +15 let her work closer to the front. Its mastery skill Resolute Stance requires full HP. Do not plan tanking with the full-health defensive benefit while wounded.

The Divine recommendation is The Trident, with Spear S as the main proficiency. It retains spear/White Magic access, with Combat Art slots +3, healing +10, and White-Magic Zenith. Mastery Divine Wall grants Defense +10. You also need the certification item and story unlock; prepare to switch once those conditions are met.

Dedicated healing and mounted training on Cai’s route

If your team already has enough spear frontliners, take Priest into Bishop, then Wiseman for healing. Wiseman's Magic Heal +15 exceeds Sentinel's bonus and suits spending most actions on recovery. However, she cannot learn Physic. A dedicated healing role does not grant long-range emergency healing, so plan positions for close-range recovery beforehand.

On Cai's route, use advanced Troubadour with a unicorn. At bond level 5, it grants Luck +3 and Resistance growth +10%, improving healer survival. Animal capture starts in Chapter 5 of Cai's route, with total mount growth modifiers of 25% at bond level 5. Without a rare individual, a wild one of the same species has the same total growth bonus and can start training now. Mount benefits require the relevant mounted class and actual assignment. Infantry Sentinel cannot keep counting them.

Another spear and White Magic bridge is Diviner, Priest, Guardian, and Sentinel. This prepares eligibility directly through White Magic and Spear. Guardian's unlock depends on the protagonist's route, so choose it after unlocking it. Although Flying is also a strength, master flying classes cannot use White Magic at the same time. To keep healing, do not choose a flying endpoint merely because Flying is a strength.

At level forty, check Magic and survival first

She heals with White Magic and also carries a spear as Sentinel. Near the end of Part 1, around level 40, you especially want Magic, Resistance, HP, and Strength above the expectations for her route. One-third of Magic contributes to healing, so Magic affects recovery. Resistance and HP determine whether she can continue supporting after an enemy spell counter. Strength also matters when she carries a spear later; check both HP and Strength.

Slightly low Speed, Luck, or Charm is no reason to give up on her. She does not do her job through follow-ups, and low Speed does not stop basic healing. Luck has a 55% growth and accumulates naturally. Charm mainly affects gambit Hit; expected Dexterity and Defense are enough. If Magic grows poorly, train another record on another route and use Merge Causality to take the higher value in each stat.

StatPersonal growth
HP / Strength / Magic45% / 40% / 40%
Speed / Dexterity / Defense35% / 40% / 35%
Resistance / Luck / Charm45% / 55% / 50%

Her total growth of 385% is high, especially Resistance 45% and Luck 55%. Spear, White Magic, and Flying are strengths; Sword is a weakness. Spear healing uses two strengths, while deliberately training Sword adds cost.

Adjacent positioning enables repeated healing in one turn

Her personal skill Patch Up restores a little HP to an adjacent ally after that ally fights. She does not need to spend her own action healing each time; allies fighting beside her receive this sustain. Combined with White Magic, she can provide active healing and formation support in the same round. Pray for Safety+ grants adjacent allies Dodge +20, Rein gives adjacent enemies Avoid -3, and Defensive Formation gives adjacent allies a defensive bonus of 1. All require adjacency, so distance loses their benefits. Infantry skill Avoid Fatality improves her own Dodge, a different target from the prayer for allies.

That position also defines her weaknesses: 35% Speed makes follow-ups difficult, 40% Magic is below dedicated offensive mages, and healing output needs Sentinel’s class bonus. In Part 1, combining healing and Black Magic gives her many opportunities to act. Judged solely on damage or solely on healing, however, she trails dedicated specialists. Her overall assessment is A; training should focus on making both jobs useful together.

Separate spell uses from support range

Offensive spells include Fire, Wind, Bolganone, and Seraphim. Fire has 10 base uses, Might 3, and Hit 90; Wind has 10 uses, Might 3, Hit 100, and effectiveness against fliers; Bolganone has 5 uses, Might 10, and Hit 85; Seraphim has 3 uses, Might 10, Hit 75, and effectiveness against netherfiends. All have base range 1–2, with class use bonuses counted separately. When finishing enemies with spells, retain enough uses for later fights.

Heal has 10 base uses and range 1. Ward has 3 base uses and range 1, granting an ally Resistance +10 until the next player phase. Emergis has 2 base uses and range 1–10, granting an ally Dodge +30 for the same duration. Long-range critical protection does not restore HP. With a spear, she can also use Tempest Spear. Other learnable arts include Wrath Strike, Spike, and Mighty Fist, each a basic art costing 2 durability for Might +4 and Hit +10. Combat Arts still require the current class’s weapon access.

Chapter 6 story recruitment and the Gift Box negotiation

She joins automatically at the start of Chapter 6 on Cai's route, without recruitment preparation. Other routes need Bond Level 3 and negotiation: first appearing in Chapter 4 with Renown 5 on Dietrich's, Chapter 5 with Renown 6 on Theodora's, and Chapter 4 with Renown 8 on Leda's. Negotiation requires visiting Coroeus Fortress northwest of the Imperial Capital, picking up a Gift Box, and delivering it. Accept the request before looking for the box.

She likes caring for others, family, housework, and love stories. Prioritize Garum, Village Recipes, Dual Fish Knives, and Secret Ghosh, all loved gifts. Liked alternatives include Spirit Board Game, Blue-Rose Bouquet, Crimson Ghosh, The Knight's Suitors, Outdoor Cooking Set, and Pastry Cookbook. Saraminian Sweets and Common Coffee receive a neutral reaction.

For Pale Raven conversations, nod when she asks whether her hairstyle looks good; sing beautifully when she feels tired and wants comfort; threaten when she asks whether she can have a happy family someday; and gaze intently when watching you makes her feel at ease.

Support partners

Her support conversation partners include the Promised One, Cai, Tialla, Peter, Tobias, Orchel, Nezha, Peppe, Loretta, Goliath, and Centurio. Her Japanese voice actor is Konomi Inagaki. Consider these supported units when planning close support formations, while still prioritizing actual battle positions.

Mobile dual-magic support with Patch Up

Use Ultand as a mounted dual-magic unit for finishing blows and Patch Up. She does not learn Physic, so do not make her your only healer.

Adjacent support is her strength. The main route is Diviner → Shaman → Troubadour → Valkyrium. Once mounted-class requirements are met, follow the frontline when an adjacent tile is safe, healing adjacent allies after combat with Patch Up. From level 35, she also improves adjacent allies' Dodge.

Patch Up at the upper right is her personal skill. The five slots below are equipped abilities, with White Magic progress listed separately below. Distinguish personal support from the spell access of her current class.

Training route by stage

Exams require the appropriate level, Renown, license, and unlock conditions. If she is already above the listed level, continue training from her current state.

Part 1: keep casting and train Riding early

Preserve spell access before switching to a mount
  1. 1
Before level 20, stay in Diviner for magic damage and healing.
Train Black Magic to C first. At level 20 and Renown 4, take the Shaman exam. Diviner mastery grants Magic Basics. For more healing, switch to Priest, requiring White Magic C. This is a healing branch; you do not need to master both routes.
  2. 2
Prepare mounted casting for level 35.
Train Riding D and Black or White Magic B ahead of time. At level 35 and Renown 8, switch to Troubadour if unlocked. It uses both black and white magic, making damage support and Patch Up easier from the middle of the party. Without eligibility, use Ovate to retain both types of magic; it requires Black Magic B.
  3. 3
Adjust equipment to her current role.
If healing is sufficient, use a staff that boosts magic damage. Consider a shield if she will take hits. For follow-ups, check weight and remove the shield if needed. A Defense bonus alone is no reason to equip every shield.

Use mounted magic support as the main route. On Cai's first route, do not wait for Guardian; it unlocks on other protagonist routes.

Part 2: use safe adjacency for Patch Up

Keep an available magic or mounted class. Train Black Magic toward A and keep Riding D for Part 3. Raise White Magic enough for the healing and protection spells you need; you do not need S in both magic skills.

Patch Up checks whether an ally is adjacent to her after that ally's combat. Find a safe adjacent tile before the frontline engages. Without one, skip this heal. Patch Up can restore HP Cai spends in combat and stack with Sirocco's own sustain. Calculate the ally's next round of incoming damage separately.

Keep Pray for Safety+ after level 35. It improves Dodge; calculate physical damage with the ally's normal Defense.

Part 3: dual magic or Spear and White Magic

Take Valkyrium on the main route. It requires level 45, Riding D, and Black or White Magic A, plus rebuilding the relevant temple and completing its unlock quest. Stay in the current class until it unlocks. It retains both magic types for finishing blows, healing, buffs, and adjacent Patch Up support. Mastery grants Song of Calm. Use your available mounts and Blessings for now.

Another option combines Spear and White Magic. Once unlocked, Guardian requires level 35 and Spear B; in Part 3, follow with Sentinel at level 45 and Spear A. This branch works near the frontline with spears and white magic, but allies must still share damage and healing duties. If you only want mobile Patch Up support, mounted magic needs less training.

Another option is a flying Levin Sword build. On one route, use Ornius Rider → Armored Ornius Rider → Caladrius → Celestial Trooper for Speed and magic-based damage. Train this branch separately. Ornius Rider requires level 5, Riding E+, and Spear or Axe D; Armored Ornius Rider requires level 20, Riding D, and Spear or Axe C; Caladrius requires level 35, Black Magic B, and Riding D; Celestial Trooper requires level 45, Flying C, and Sword or Spear A, and is female-only. She meets the gender requirement, but every class still needs unlocking. The early Ornius classes cannot function as mages, and Celestial Trooper cannot cast white magic. This build recommends Black Magonius for Caladrius and Dark Pegasus for Celestial Trooper. Bond with the new animal again after switching.

Before taking the Spear/White Magic or flying branch, check whether your available resources meet its requirements.

Avoid enemy archers while supporting the frontline

Position her in the middle of the advancing team or on the inside of the front line. Prioritize allies who fight repeatedly. Use magic against physically armored enemies when she needs to attack, and stay in a White Magic class when healing is needed. Save Seraphim for key enemies vulnerable to holy magic; with few uses left, do not spend it on routine finishing blows.

Moving into archer or flying-unit range to stand beside two allies can expose her to concentrated attacks. Bring another healer for Hard battles and keep her safe first.

Recruitment

She joins through the story in Cai Chapter 6. The other three routes require Bond Level 3 and completion of “Ultand's Request,” with Renown thresholds of 5 for Dietrich, 6 for Theodora, and 8 for Leda. See the recruitment page for her availability and request details.

Bring another healer for the flying branch

  • She cannot learn Physic. Plan your healing formation ahead of time.
  • On Cai's first route, start with magic classes. Guardian must first be unlocked on another protagonist route.
  • Celestial Trooper cannot use white magic. Arrange a replacement healer before switching to a flying Levin Sword build.
  • Pray for Safety+ only protects against criticals. Allies retain their normal Defense, and Patch Up triggers after combat.
Ultand prepares to initiate combat beside the front line, with an archer and gauntlet enemies nearby. Do not overlook her own safety just to provide adjacent Patch Up healing.
