Quests and pacing on a new route

I am starting Dietrich's route this time, with main quests, paralogues, and recruitment quests coming one after another. I finish a battle, turn in materials, take on the next task, and still need to return for matches in between. I can finally watch the preliminaries, too. Hidden story scenes are easy to miss, so there is still plenty to keep track of.

Bring ranged weapons to chase fleeing targets

The longer I chase this target, the more I feel the lack of range. I wish I had brought a ranged weapon. Being able to move nearby does not mean you can attack.

Fortunately, Fabio has enough range to follow up with an attack. However strong a melee unit is, they still need to reach the target. Before exploring, bring someone who can finish enemies from a distance.

Gather materials while exploring for recruitment

After obtaining Sacred Gem, I start thinking about the next batch of materials. This makes me miss the previous two routes: Cai can farm, making materials convenient to obtain. With Dietrich, I need to look around and explore more caves.

Recruitment takes more than glancing at a name. Some characters require several quests in sequence; others need specific weapons. Complete those conditions before you can recruit them. Even on a familiar third route, you still need to do the required quests.

Switch battle animations to tap-to-skip

I want to watch animations in official matches, but I can press B to skip them in small battles. I do not always want them disabled, because sometimes I suddenly feel like watching again. I leave them enabled and skip when I want to move faster.

After a long session with many repeated battles, switch to simple animations, increase the game speed, and change skipping from a long press to a short press. One tap skips the action and cuts down the repeated waiting. Adjust these settings again when you want to watch an important battle.

The general settings page lists the skip method. This frame still selects “Hold.”

Check weapon access before reclassing for Speed

Esmeralda took an armored path on the previous route, so I want to try a different direction. Myrmidon can improve her Speed. Once she can make follow-up attacks, her lance's high damage becomes easier to use. Later, Shido can still use lances.

However, her current sword rank is low, and changing to Myrmidon temporarily prevents her from using her old lance. That is the dilemma: I want more Speed, but lances feel more comfortable for her. Compare Ornius Rider with Myrmidon, considering both growth rates and whether she can use her current weapons.

In the end, she still needs to train swords. She already worked on armored classes on another route, so this one can develop other stats. But do not focus on a single promising growth rate and forget what she will fight with right now.
