First switch the trainee to Charioteer, then level in Cai’s instruction battle. Leave enemies alive in the third wave, retreat from that battle, and reenter. If damage is still short, have Cai and the third-slot unit finish enemies.

Chariot certification and finishing positions

On Cai’s route, find the white-haired teacher in Underworld Valley and enter the instruction battle. Its three enemy waves match three uses of Onslaught. Switch the trainee to Charioteer first; if Bow or Riding is short, you can train those in instruction too.

Using Peter as an example: slot one is fixed as Cai, slot two holds the chariot, slot three adds someone who can supply extra damage, and slot six holds a mage. Early on, the chariot cannot clear armored enemies. Cai and slot three finish them, while the mage covers physical misses.

The deployment order places Cai and Peter first, with other allies listed behind.

Handling three waves before the build is ready

In wave one, move the chariot upward and use a horizontal Onslaught against two armored enemies. Cai below and slot three add damage. Use Onslaught again for the two pegasi in wave two.

You can charge horizontally in wave three too. It is fine if the armored enemy survives; take the nearby weaker enemy first. Retreat here and reenter training. The key is not to finish the entire battle. Leave enemies alive so the loop can continue.

The first wave's armored enemies have these stats.

Judge whether Onslaught can defeat enemies from its actual damage preview rather than one spoken threshold. The demonstration uses three Onslaughts and five kills per cycle for 60 experience, or about 1.2 levels across two cycles.

Two armored enemies in the first wave occupy the upper road. The chariot stands behind Cai, with the extra-damage ally on the right.

Leave an enemy and retreat once the build is ready

Once levels and Strength rise, one Onslaught handles both first-wave armored enemies without allied follow-up. Charge horizontally through the first two waves, then vertically into only one enemy in wave three. Leave the other alive, retreat, and reenter.

This is retreating from an individual battle, not Restart Chapter. Retreating autosaves, while restarting the chapter rolls back its development progress. Do not confuse the two.

Use another route to fix the chariot's Magic and Speed

The chariot path does not build Magic or Speed well; its strengths include HP and Defense. To give a mage that durability, train chariots on this route, follow ordinary magic classes on another to build Magic, then merge later.

Sirocco restores 5 HP after battle. Building durability before using spells makes his sustain more comfortable, but requires the training time of another route.

Account for Part 3's dynamic levels too: raising your own level very high also raises enemy levels. If you mainly want an easier Part 1 and War story, stopping around level sixty is an option. Ninety-nine does not have to be the goal.
