Training basics: Check growths and skill strengths before choosing classes
Identify which stats and skills a character develops well, then choose classes that build those strengths. Preview level-ups and adjust through exams when needed.

Look at personal growths to decide which stats need help, then choose classes that are easier to train through strong subjects. Use Level-Up Previewing and Certification Exams when you want to adjust level-up results.
Personal growths and class modifiers
A Strength growth of 60 means a 60% chance to gain 1 Strength when leveling up. The character's personal growths are fixed, while classes add separate modifiers. Changing classes therefore changes total growth rates.
Do not judge training direction only by current stats. Check personal growth strengths first, then the modifiers from the planned class. Some classes also grant extra growth benefits: chariots gain further modifiers at levels 35 and 45, which need separating from the character’s own growths.
Preview growth and shift the sequence with exams
A random-number sequence governs level-up gains, and character gains are locked within the same route.
Simply saving and reloading or restarting the chapter will not produce different gains at the same level.
The same character has separate sequences on different routes. Replaying a cleared route also assigns a new sequence.
To see future growth, finish the required story scenes at a chapter's start, visit the inn's Auto-earn option, select training, and extend the time to observe later level-ups. This is commonly called level-up previewing.
Certification Exams advance the sequence whether passed or failed, moving it forward nine places, equivalent to skipping one level’s checks. Different recruitment dates may also change post-recruitment gains. I do not recommend rigging for its own sake, and Hard clears do not require choosing every stat point. Getting the class route right matters more than one missing point on a level-up.
Choose strong subjects by their colors
Check weapon skill colors too. Gold means a strength, purple a weakness, and black normal aptitude. With the same combat, training, or spectating, strengths earn more points while weaknesses train slowly.
On your first route, before unlocking the relevant Boons of Salvation, following strengths saves considerable development time. If a weak skill happens to gain points from an activity, that is fine too. Just avoid placing your entire initial plan on the hardest skill to train.
Basic paths for two characters
When recruiting someone new, inspect personal growths to decide whether they suit damage, the front line, or magic. Then check skills and choose classes that follow their strengths.
Esmeralda has good HP, Strength, and Defense, plus strengths in lances, axes, and armor. Armor is the most direct plan. Follow
Soldier,
Armored Knight,
Dreadnought, and
Castle Knight to keep reinforcing her advantages.
Fabio is an offensive mage. He has high Magic, Dexterity, and Resistance, a black-magic strength, and normal white magic. Start with
Diviner,
Shaman,
Ovate, and
Druid. There is no need to design a complicated path through numerous classes for everyone before understanding the basics.
