The Ornius crosses obstacles
In this demonstration,
Ornius Rider crosses a wooden fence directly to reach the
Archer behind it. Infantry would need a detour and might not reach, while this unit removes the threat immediately. That is mobility's practical value.
For offensive classes, I want enough Movement, sufficient Attack Speed, and preferably ranged options too.
Cai's Ornius uses lances and crosses obstacles in the footage, an exciting combination. The Movement number alone does not show how much detouring this path saves.
Fast critical builds still need to manage weapon costs
Dietrich’s high Speed suits Avoid and Critical builds.
Bloodletting raises Critical. The art shown adds Critical +20 and costs 2 durability, with criticals dealing triple damage. His personal weapon has costs too, so consider later uses as well as this impressive hit.
If ordinary critical weapons handle routine damage, the personal weapon can wait for when it matters more.
Theodora's demonstration instead draws my attention to gambits: hitting several targets while restricting later actions makes these especially valuable on crucial turns.
Leda combines damage and support
Leda is the character I most want to play first. The appeal goes beyond bow damage: she uses swords up close, bows at range, and performance to buff allies and summon beasts. She combines damage with a job normally reserved for a dedicated support unit.
Handling several distances while enhancing others makes army building more flexible. That is why I favor her. Maximizing everyone's individual damage is not the only thing that matters.
Two extra damage from the attack command
Tialla's attack command gives an ally 2 Attack until the next player phase. It seems small at first, but some enemies survive by exactly two points. Adding them lets an ally secure a kill otherwise impossible that turn.
She also uses white magic and heals, so do not judge a mage solely by their own damage per turn. As the front line advances, attack buffs and healing behind it keep the whole army moving.
Include Hit and Critical in the combat forecast
In
Fabio's battle, check your damage first, whether the enemy can retaliate second, and its damage next. Then include Hit and Critical. A lethal damage forecast does not guarantee a hit, and an enemy at half accuracy can still connect.
Critical hits deal triple damage, making high-Critical weapons attractive. But normal damage, counters, and probabilities belong in the same assessment. Do not stare at one large number.
Fabio and
Dietrich share a Bloodmark, but their profiles do not identify them as father and son or cousins. A shared symbol is no reason to immediately assume a blood relationship.
