Train frontliners in Charioteer: HP, Strength, Defense, and Dietrich’s control loopMinor spoilers
At high levels, Charioteer greatly improves HP, Strength, and Defense without a net Speed bonus. Dietrich and several healers can repeatedly control an enemy for EXP.

Charioteer’s growth bonuses rise with level
Charioteer’s immediate combat performance interests me less than
Charioteer's Path: growth bonuses increase with level. Switching late-forties
Dietrich from
Commoner to
Charioteer adds 130 percentage points across nine growths. HP, Strength, Dexterity, and Defense gain especially strongly.
| Growth | Commoner | Charioteer | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP | 50% | 70% | +20 percentage points |
| Strength | 45% | 65% | +20 percentage points |
| Magic | 30% | 30% | 0 |
| Speed | 50% | 50% | 0 |
| Dexterity | 60% | 85% | +25 percentage points |

These gains land where a frontliner needs them. Higher HP and Defense let an already fast character take more rounds of attacks while retaining follow-ups.

No Speed bonus makes it better for fast frontliners
Speed is the weakness. Both compared screens show 50% Speed growth:
Charioteer subtracts 5 and
Charioteer's Path adds 5 at that point, canceling out.
It therefore suits turning naturally high-Speed-growth units into sturdy frontliners. A slow character may become impressive on paper yet unable to follow up.
Dietrich has Speed and can pin enemies with Blaze Arts, making training easier too.
Loop Shadow Stitch self-damage and healing
- 1Trigger an encounter with Blade Resonance and deploy several healers.
- 2Clear some enemies so Shadow Stitch can control the remaining targets.
- 3Have
Dietrich use Shadow Stitch to immobilize enemies while losing HP. - 4Heal him to full and continue next round.
This loop repeatedly gives Dietrich experience while healers develop alongside him.
Dietrich does not suffer the halved maximum HP that ordinary characters receive after Burst, so the loop can continue while white magic uses remain.
The chariot’s charge also earns EXP against low-level enemies. In the demonstration, defeating a level-5 enemy still gave about one tenth of a level. Once enemies thin out, continue the control-and-healing loop rather than ending immediately.

Repetition takes substantial real time
The direct cost is repeated inputs and real time. Raising
Dietrich very high on a first playthrough makes later tournament matches much easier. Do not overtrain if you want combat pressure.
Others lack this convenient control-and-self-damage loop and must level through ordinary combat.
Charioteer mainly uses bows, making counterattack EXP farming awkward and slower than
Dietrich’s method. Other characters showed smaller bonuses at that point. My next step is to train them toward level 50 and check growth changes again.
