Choose allies by base growths: why Mu excels and low Dexterity slows development
Compare base growths without class or mount modifiers. Attackers need Strength or Magic, Dexterity, and Speed considered together.

Separate base growths from class modifiers
Give a new companion one gift to add them to the inn's dining list. Press L2 in the character list to open growth rates, then X for base values. The previous layer includes class and mount bonuses; comparing it directly mistakes setup advantages for personal growth.
The protagonists’ overall growth charts look excellent, especially beside
Majide. They are safe training investments.
Mu’s growth skill strengthens balanced melee stats
Mu's base chart looks modest, but his personal skill adds 20 to every growth. Including it makes him strong and balanced, one of my top training recommendations. He needs Renown 9; raise his bond to 3 beforehand to prepare for recruitment.
Esmeralda has HP and Strength growth of 55 and Defense of 45. Her personal skill reduces Weight's Attack Speed burden. She needs Renown 7. Use a class with good Dexterity growth to address low Dexterity; high Strength cannot deal damage when attacks miss.
Guzran joins early with Strength and Dexterity growth of 45 and Speed of 50. Every possible random personal-skill bonus is useful.
Diego and
Nezha also offer balanced Strength, Speed, and Dexterity for easy use; they require Renown 10 and 6 respectively.
Give hybrid Sirocco a dedicated healer alongside him
Sirocco appears split between Strength and Magic but is not mediocre at everything. Most growths are average or better, with decent Speed, Defense, and Resistance. His survival-oriented personal skill makes physical classes worth trying.
Dante has balanced Magic, Speed, and Dexterity and works more naturally as a magic attacker.
For healing, consider
Sofia and
Fianna.
Sofia’s healing skill is reliably useful.
Fianna can avoid consuming spell uses by chance, with better returns as Luck rises.
Fianna’s low Speed favors healing rather than main damage.
The cost of low Dexterity or damage
Majide and
Goliath both have 30 Dexterity growth. High HP, Strength, and Defense are one thing; missing and failing to finish enemies means fewer kills and gradually falling behind in levels.
Goliath’s high Build is useful but cannot replace accuracy.
Benditz has the opposite problem: decent Dexterity and Hit but only 35 Strength and Speed, raising damage concerns.
Charioteer can improve long-term growth, but the same investment could go elsewhere.
Yang Jie has 40 Magic and 35 each in Speed and Dexterity; more appealing magic attackers exist.
| Character | Strength growth | Magic growth | Speed growth | Dexterity growth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Majide | — | — | — | 30% |
Goliath | — | — | — | 30% |
Benditz | 35% | — | 35% | — |
Yang Jie | — | 40% | 35% | 35% |
Peppe | 30% | — | 60% | — |
Peppe’s 60 Speed looks excellent, but Strength is only 30 and HP is low. To keep using him, choose classes improving HP and Strength to cover gaps beyond Speed. Train your favorites; class modifiers help patch these weaknesses.
Growth priorities for attackers
My selection habits are:
| Attacker stat | Growth preference |
|---|---|
| Physical Strength or caster Magic | Prefer at least 45% |
| Dexterity | Aim for 40% |
| Speed | Check actual Attack Speed with Build and weight |
These guide my attacker choices.
Speed affects Attack Speed, heavy equipment lowers it, and high Build reduces the penalty. At least 4 more final Attack Speed than the enemy enables a follow-up. Even with good growths, inspect weight and actual Attack Speed when equipping. Consider personal skills too:
Sirocco,
Esmeralda, and
Guzran have skills that help explain why I prioritize training them.
