Playing this class

Pugilist balances gauntlet damage and Avoid. Growth bonuses are Strength, Speed, and Defense +10 each, with Magic −5. It suits continued fist combat; magic routes should avoid spending many level-ups here.

Pugilist Noctula's preparations show the class at the upper left. Compare Iron Gauntlets, Qiankun Circles, Dodge Gauntlets, and durability on the right, with Hit and physical/magical durability below left.

Who suits the class

  • Mu: Gladiator → Pugilist for gauntlet damage. Carry range 1–2 Qiankun Circles for targets close-range gauntlets cannot reach.
  • Noctula: Gladiator → Pugilist trades some Brigand Strength growth for Speed, Dexterity, and Defense. Personal Avoid also fits fist combat.
  • Nezha: use player-phase gauntlets to add Strength and Speed, then move to Ranger.

How to train

Recommended exam level 20, Renown 4, and Gauntlet C. Pugilist uses only gauntlets, has Movement 5, and provides Combat Arts +1 and Brawl Avo +3. Gauntlet use benefits from both class abilities and weapon experience bonuses.

Mastery Attack, Get Back gives Avoid +10 during the combat in which you use an art, helping avoid counters when initiating. It grants no post-combat movement and does not last through the enemy phase. Do not stay surrounded just because this one fight has better Avoid.

Regular initiating Combat Art users can pick up mastery along the way. If only borrowing growths without using arts, move straight to the next class.

When to move on

Once Mu has enough Speed and Dexterity for regular follow-ups, switch to Warrior for Strength, then Battlemaster. Stay in Pugilist if Speed is still short; reaching level 35 alone does not demand a switch.

A fist-and-healing alternative is Pugilist → Shido for Speed → War Monk. Mu needs separate White Magic training for this. White Magic is Noctula's weakness, making War Monk more costly. For physical damage alone, follow Warrior.
