Pre-match development shapes battle decisions

Before a difficult battle, deciding who needs special training, who should share a meal, and how much exploration time remains already changes the fight ahead. Fortune's Weave expands both unit development and the world map. Battles keep presenting new problems that put those preparations to use.

The four heroes follow separate routes that ultimately converge. A single save turns the time-travel theme into a practical mechanic: you can continue exploring the continent from another perspective without starting a fresh playthrough every time.

Four routes piece together the story

Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda initially enter the Heroic Games for their own reasons. Their experiences between matches gradually bring them toward the same conspiracy. Each sees only part of it; switching routes explains background you could not fully understand before.

Eshmel stays more in the background during the first half, leaving the stage to the four heroes and appearing at crucial moments. Everyday interactions in bird form lighten the mood and reveal another side of the person responsible for saving everyone.

Blaze costs and battlefield mobility

Battle matchups do not follow the traditional weapon triangle. Spears can target cavalry and gauntlets improve Avoid. Check each weapon’s particular strengths before deciding who engages.

Main story battles use reinforcements, terrain obstacles, and mechanisms to force formation changes. You cannot simply arrange one line and push forward. Leave your team enough mobility to change positions and take new paths when enemies appear.

Blaze Arts reduce your HP

Blaze Arts are my favorite new tool. Leda's songs have broken deadlocks more than once, but their benefits cost her own HP and can leave her within an enemy's lethal range. Deciding whether the current benefit justifies that risk is part of every turn.

Blessings add another layer of preparation. Configure Hit, Avoid, and damage mitigation to fit your needs, then spend resources at crucial moments. To turn a fight around with them, first identify what the battle most demands.

Schedule weekly exploration and recruitment together

Several weeks of downtime separate tournament rounds. You have wilderness side quests, scheduled city activities, and many weekly resets to manage. The more enjoyable exploration becomes, the easier it is to forget the return journey.

In dungeons, move freely, loot chests, avoid patrols, or fight small encounters. A durable armored unit can often hold out early, but later enemy combinations become trickier and demand more than repeating that approach.

Recruitment also uses this schedule. Different protagonists face different Renown, Support, and negotiation conditions for the same mercenary. Develop relationships in town, then remember favored gifts while traveling. Fighting beside other heroes in preliminaries teaches their unique Blaze Arts and makes later confrontations more imposing. On certain routes, defeated warriors also unlock rescue side quests. Completing them changes later stories and gives route changes a concrete goal.

Recruitment conditions listed individually: Support and Renown are still insufficient, and the prerequisite event is unfinished.

Choose training goals before the final expedition

I once tried to clear every item on the list and exhausted myself. Focusing on the goals I wanted most made the experience flow better. Unrecruited characters and uncleared dungeons can wait for another route.

Part 2 raises the scale of the maps and combat pressure, with an option to skip it on replays. Eventually the routes merge, and the world map becomes the center of army deployment rather than just exploration. The companions you gathered all have roles. Bringing everyone to the end alive truly connects pre-match development, scheduling, and battlefield command.
