Chapter 8: Unyielding FeelingsMinor spoilers

Stay in the brush until enemies approach a brazier, then detonate it. Compare counterattack forecasts with the Cleansing Blade against Leda; explosive kills give no EXP.

Draft · Updated 2026-10-19

Reserve deployment slots for Cai and your established main units. Do not bring Seteth for training if he has not reached a Specialty class yet. Stay in the brush at the start and wait for enemies to approach a brazier. Detonate it to weaken them and restrict their movement instead of rushing forward. Use Cai's area Blaze Arts to clear later enemies. Against Leda, compare the Cleansing Blade's counterattack forecast to avoid dying to a follow-up attack. Use direct attacks to finish enemies if you want allies to earn EXP. Enemies killed by explosives give none.

Assign the Levin Sword and save money for training before deploying

Forge the Levin Sword to +1 first, then prepare the Cleansing Blade. Check that a recipient has Sword C before assigning the Levin Sword. Even an ally with high Magic cannot use it without meeting the requirement. Keep the materials needed to exchange for a Levin Sword rather than feeding them to mounts.

If you have spare money, spend 500 gold at the hot spring; its buff lasts until the end of this chapter's main battle. Before recruiting, set aside money for training and the start of the next chapter. You can delay a recruitment that costs 6000 gold rather than spending your main units' training funds.

Replace an underdeveloped Seteth and check the Armorslayer on the right

Check Seteth's class before deploying. If he is still level 19 and has not entered a Specialty class, replace him with a developed unit. If you only notice the mistake on the battlefield, reload your pre-battle save and change your roster.

An enemy on the right carries an Armorslayer. Check the combat forecast before sending armor that way. Account for the back-line archers' range when choosing where to stop. For units who can dismount, compare the dismounted forecast first instead of moving and only then discovering that rear archers can hit them.

Wait in the brush until enemies reach the brazier

If your party is underleveled, stay in the brush to face nearby enemies first. Wait for them to move toward the brazier, then trigger the explosion yourself. Do not leave cover and rush forward just to land an early hit. The enemy Myrmidons have high Attack and can down allies in two hits; initiating can also get you killed outright by a counterattack.

Your party occupies the central strip of brush, with a brazier ahead. Gather in the brush and wait for enemies to approach it before acting.

Explosions you trigger do not hurt your units. They damage nearby enemies and immobilize them for one turn. You still need to guard against enemy-triggered explosions: the blast can extend three tiles, so avoiding only the tiles directly beside the brazier is not enough. Check its full coverage before ending an action.

Explosive kills give no EXP. Detonate freely if your party cannot hold out, but let lagging units finish enemies with direct attacks if you want to train them.

You can control Buccar once he switches to your side.

Check the terrain left by your area Blaze Art

Use Cai's area Blaze Arts when enemies gather together. Check your movement routes afterward, as the terrain they leave also affects allies.

Compare Leda's counterattacks before choosing a finisher

Once you approach Leda, cycle through your weapons and check each forecast. If your current weapon gets you killed by counters, compare the Cleansing Blade. If the forecast shows Leda countering only once because her Attack Speed is too low, make sure you can survive that hit before attacking to weaken her.

To give an ally the finishing EXP, first switch to a weapon that can penetrate the enemy's Defense, then weaken the target with a main unit and let the ally finish with a direct attack. Even against an enemy at 1 HP, the finishing attack may only have 79% Hit and can still miss.

After Leda comes a beast; next chapter has only 32 turns

This chapter's victory objective includes a beast battle after Leda. Continue through the remaining fight.

Mystery at Aurora's Temple gives you only 32 turns of free time. Forge the weapons your main units need during this chapter's preparations rather than waiting until next chapter to mine missing materials. Gathering materials in that short window cuts into your other preparations.
