Chapter 3: Tumult at the Imperial CapitalMinor spoilers

Guest kills still share experience. Throw stones to catch thieves and thin the enemy ranks, but revise your attack plan when obstacles block the throw.

Draft · Updated 2026-10-19

Clear enemies with your three regular units and four guests. Kills by guest units also give your regular team experience. When thieves flee or enemies gather, have Theodora throw a stone to eliminate one target first. Its Range is 5 tiles, but obstacles can still block the attack. If a nearby enemy can kill one of your units in a single hit and has 5 Movement against your 4, defeat it this turn. Heal before leaving your healer’s reach. Finish by defeating Idi. Before taking an attack, check whether you can survive without a passive skill activating.

Guest kills also share experience

Your units gather in the south-center. Enemies spread across the north and both flanks, with a breakable obstacle at the eastern entrance.

While your regular team still has only three units, let the four guests take kills. You do not need to claim every finishing blow for your own team’s growth. Your regular units also receive experience from guest kills, with lower-level members getting more.

Throw stones to catch thieves or reduce enemy numbers

You can chase down a fleeing thief with a thrown stone. When enemies gather, Theodora can also throw one to eliminate a target and reduce the number in front of you. The throw hits only one target, even when several enemies stand together.

Check obstacles before attacking. The throw has 5-tile Range, but you still cannot use it through a blocking obstacle. Watch your maximum HP before throwing repeatedly too. Once the cost starts reducing maximum HP, consider more than the damage this one throw can deal.

The black fence on the right separates your team from a line of enemies. Even within the throw’s 5-tile Range, check whether this obstacle blocks the attack path.

Kill faster-moving threats this turn

If an enemy can kill one of your units outright, compare Movement first. With 5 Movement against your 4, it is hard to escape by retreating, so defeat it this turn. An Archer who cannot rescue the unit until next turn does not count as support available now.

Check Hit for kills and leave enough HP to take attacks

If you must kill the enemy in front of you, you can raise your axe user’s Hit first. Even 80% still risks a miss, however, and attacks with 90 Hit can miss too.

Heal wounded units before they move out of healing range, or they may advance beyond anyone who can heal them. Before taking the next attack, calculate remaining HP without assuming a passive skill will trigger. Do not engage if you cannot survive.

Finish weekly city activities after the battle

After the post-battle tutorial, you have 24 free-action turns remaining. Complete the city’s once-per-week activities before leaving. Returning for them after traveling costs activity opportunities you could have used earlier.

Before changing class, confirm that you can buy a weapon for the new class so you do not end up unable to equip one. Theodora can become a Soldier and keep using lances. When considering Ornius Rider, its lower Strength and Dexterity are reasons to pass on that option.

If a Certification Exam shows 50% and you fail repeatedly, you can keep trying. You can also wait for another level, especially if you have not yet reached the recommended level 5. Another attempt offers an earlier class change but can still fail.

If you are worried about running out of spells on a mage, prepare Magic Fist as another damage option. It has lower Attack Speed and Hit than the spell used for comparison, but its attacks do not consume uses. HP and spell uses do not automatically recover after small exploration battles. Check what you have spent before continuing, and visit a tent to recover after taking damage.
