Blue shows movement and red shows attacks. Stay outside enemy counterattack Range, then plan exploration and class changes for the next opponent.
Check movement areas and avoid counterattack Range
Select your deployed members and starting positions before beginning the turn. Blue marks reachable movement tiles, and red marks attack coverage. Once your side finishes acting, the enemy takes its turn.
Attack distance matters especially. Attacking within the opponent’s weapon Range allows retaliation. Attack from beyond their reach to avoid that counter. Do not crowd everyone forward. A weapon’s minimum and maximum Range are part of positioning.
Terrain can improve Avoid, and ally cooperation also helps combat. Use those advantages when deciding where to stop.
Plan class roles around combat art effects
Combat arts consume weapon durability. Some increase Might, while others extend Range. When normal attacks cannot hurt or reach a target, check combat arts for another option.
Classes also have distinct uses.
Armored Knight specializes in physical Defense,
Wing Soldier crosses obstacles and travels far, and
Charioteer charges in straight lines. Higher options include mounted armor with
Cataphract and lances plus white magic with
Guardian.
Training therefore means more than moving into a higher tier. Decide whether the team needs Defense, mobility, or healing coverage, then train the corresponding skills so those tools actually help in battle.
Plan pre-match exploration around opponent information
Each match has a preparation deadline, and you receive enemy-strength information beforehand. Knowing the next opponent helps you decide whether to buy equipment, gather weapon-upgrade materials, or gain levels.
In the capital, buy weapons and items or perform Temple Service to develop Blessings. Outside, buy local specialties, gather information, fight for experience, and enter dungeons for chests and upgrade materials. Travel consumes time, so group needed destinations along one route before leaving.
Each protagonist also has unique commands.
Dietrich uses Blade Resonance to draw out nearby enemies.
Theodora recruits battalions and dispatches them for materials, bringing those preparations into the next match.
