This chapter's three-person team needs reliable Hit most. Theodora has roughly 80% and Tobias roughly 70%; one miss may leave nobody to finish the enemy. Compare Hit-boosting arts before adding more Strength.

Hit pressure on a three-unit team

After this chapter, Hit is the clearest problem. The two units’ rates were roughly:

CharacterHit in this battle
TheodoraAbout 80%
TobiasAbout 70%

With so few units, one miss may leave nobody else to finish.

The enemies’ stats are not especially strong, yet my units may take follow-ups. That makes Hit-boosting combat arts more desirable. Impressive Strength and Defense still require attacks to connect.

Orchel’s Weight lowers Attack Speed

Orchel’s Magic, Defense, and Resistance are appealing. His personal ability adds more Defense, giving both spell damage and tanking potential. Low Speed is the weakness, with Dexterity and Luck also needing attention.

White magic offers Nosferatu and Seraphim for damage. Seraphim is relatively light. I do not want to sacrifice too much Speed for a little extra Might. Checking the current equipment reveals Weight has already reduced Attack Speed to zero, forcing me to rethink earlier follow-up plans.

A chance-based Hit Bloodmark helps, but cannot be expected every time. When an attack must connect, find a more dependable Hit option.

Subtract class modifiers from personal growths

For bow-and-sword characters, I first examine HP, Strength, Speed, and Dexterity. Seeing 55 Speed growth, I initially imagined adding class growth to secure follow-ups, then realized the number already included it.

Do not count growth modifiers twice

HP works the same way. The displayed 55 includes a class bonus, leaving a personal value of 45 after subtraction. Counting the modifier twice naturally overestimates the character.

Personal growth and displayed growth

Personal Growth Rate = displayed growth rate − current class growth modifier

Actual level-ups still matter. If Speed grows poorly, the planned path may need changing.

Loretta gains Avoid while at least half HP, making flight worth considering. Still watch whether Speed and Strength keep up during training.

Cannon targets and Blaze conditions

I expected the dragon-ship cannon to hit an entire row. It actually targets one enemy and is restricted to a straight line. Even if the name suggests area artillery, check exactly which tile is selected.

Compare Blaze-related abilities individually too. Do they require Release first? How much HP do they cost, and how much Blaze do they add afterward? Separating those questions shows whether the move is currently available and what remains after using it.
