Recommended characters for this class

Playing this class

Great Knight combines armor skills with riding, fitting frontliners who already trained armor and need to keep up. Eshmel can bring Healing Armor and armored movement onto a mount, while Buccar also keeps armored movement instead of walking four tiles.

Great Knight mastery Fierce Shield: the lower-right description halves damage in first-strike combat with a 50% trigger rate. Armor D and Riding D are both required; choose Axe or Spear A.
Great Knight mastery Fierce Shield: the lower-right description halves damage in first-strike combat with a 50% trigger rate. Armor D and Riding D are both required; choose Axe or Spear A.

Who benefits

  • Eshmel: Train Armor and Riding first, obtain healing and damage-reduction skills, then reclass for an armored frontliner who keeps pace.
  • Buccar: Move from Castle Knight, combining armored Movement +2 with riding for mobility, and keep using spear arts for counters.
  • Gaitz: Cataphract → Great Knight. If Cataphract is locked, use Bardinger and train Armor separately.

Training route

Restore Credna’s temple, accept Credna’s Request, obtain the quest item Desert Sunstone in Dragonbone Forest, and report back. Ordinary Sunstone material cannot complete the request.

The recommended exam level is 45. Train both Armor D and Riding D, plus either Axe A or Spear A. The class uses swords, spears, and axes, with base Movement 6. Growth modifiers are HP and Strength +20 each, Defense +15, and Speed and Resistance −10 each.

For an intensive Majide build, obtain Castle Knight’s Intercept before Great Knight. Dismount under heavy anti-cavalry pressure.

When to use it

Use Great Knight to reach enemies for Combat Arts or move an armored tank to another flank. Castle Knight is more direct for holding a fixed position against physical enemies.

The class’s Defense +5 when attacking second helps receive enemies, while mastery Fierce Shield has a 50% chance to halve damage during combat only when you attack first. It reduces counters on active attacks. Enemy-phase blockers need not stay solely for this mastery, and should not gamble on half damage against a lethal counter.
