Check these eight areas before midgame: equipment weight, weapon crates, recruitment prerequisites, netherfiend counters, exploration classes, dungeon training, ranged healing, and gifts before chapter end.

1. Check Attack Speed when equipping fast units

By Part 1, Chapter 12, my biggest reminder is to check Attack Speed whenever you change a fast unit’s equipment. You need 4 more than the opponent to follow up, and enemies follow the same rule. Heavy shields and accessories can reduce your two attacks to one while letting the enemy hit you twice instead.

Open the unit list for fast fliers such as Catania and Alexandra. If Attack Speed falls to single digits, try removing the shield and accessory, then compare combat results. Armor follows a different logic: units already relying on Defense can trade Attack Speed for durability.

2. Look for a magic sword in Luxury Weapon Crates

Reroll weapon crates
  1. 1
Save before buying a weapon crate.
  2. 2
Buy and open it, then check the result.
  3. 3
If unsatisfied, return to the title through the system menu and continue from the pre-purchase save.
Return to step 2, buying and opening again.

Prioritize Levin Sword. Physical parties can struggle to damage armor, and a magic sword fills that gap. A little preparation time is worthwhile.

3. Enemy quests affect later recruitment

Some enemy characters have Part 1 requests you can accept. “My Late Sister's Accessory” affects whether Creek and Nathan can join later. Do not skip it just because they are currently enemies.

Character paralogues in late Part 1 also deserve attention. Beyond immediate money, Renown, and rare items, they affect later recruitment and assistance. Check new tasks after every main-story battle and schedule approaching deadlines first.

4. Prepare effective attacks for netherfiend maps

Netherfiends appear more often from midgame onward and are tough to damage. Leda’s songs help your team respond, and Cleansing Blade noticeably eases combat. Do not casually sell one when you obtain it.

Aurora's Blessing and the white spell Seraphim are other answers. Few characters use Seraphim, and its uses are limited, so reserve it for targets that need it. Do not enter a netherfiend map only to discover your entire party lacks effective attacks.

5. Rogue makes rare exploration materials easier to find

Include a Rogue in your exploration party, either by changing an existing unit’s class or recruiting one. Rare question-mark results become easier to obtain, making material gathering much simpler.

6. Higher-level dungeons help the whole party catch up

For leveling, seek dungeons recommended above your party’s average level. As the story and periods advance, enemies return to cleared dungeons, letting you train again. Unlike a single encounter, dungeons also give reserves EXP and better support party-wide leveling. Hold the plus button during Clash to speed up repeated battles.

7. Split healing duties between two ranged healers

Two Physic users make split-party operations much safer. Frontliners do not need to wait for a healer to reach them, and the other flank is less likely to lose healing access. Olympia and Tialla are healing options to consider.

8. Give gifts before chapter end to ease next chapter’s recruitment

Before the current chapter’s main battle, give a gift to anyone you want to recruit next chapter. Even if you are one Renown level short, the main battle may close that gap. More importantly, they enter the meal guest list first. Next chapter, you can invite them immediately and use chapter restarts to keep raising support. If you only meet them in the new chapter, restarting means establishing invitation eligibility again.
