Preview level-ups and use Certification Exams to skip a bad resultMinor spoilers
Certification Exams advance level-up randomness whether passed or failed. Save at the chapter’s start, preview stat gains, then decide which level needs a return trip for an exam.

Certification Exams advance level-up randomness
Repeatedly reloading a character’s level-up usually gives the same stats. To change the next result, take a Certification Exam. Passing or failing both advance the level-up randomness by one level.
This method suits fixing a specific weakness. Decide what the route needs, then skip the set of rolls that misses your target stat. Prepare certification tickets too, since every attempt consumes one. Prioritize low-pass-rate Beginner exams: failures also advance the random-number sequence without immediately qualifying for every Beginner class and leaving fewer exams available later.

Changing class growth can also change a level-up
Switching to an unlocked class can change gains at the same level. If
Myrmidon gives no Strength, Brigand’s fifteen-percentage-point higher Strength growth may cross that roll’s threshold. Lower Speed or Dexterity growth may also remove gains you previously received.
These changes suggest each stat has a preset roll compared with current growth. Changing class changes the growth rate; exams bring the next set of results forward. Combine them: the class raises target growth, while exams skip a poor set.
Each level-up increases at least two stats in Parts 1 and 2 and at least one in Part 3. You need not wait for an entirely empty level-up before making choices.

Plan Halvin’s Strength gains
Halvin tends to join with low Strength. This route puts her through
Gladiator and
Brigand specifically to build it. Save at the chapter’s start, then use automatic battle training to gain several levels and see what comes next.
The preview is below. With Strength as the goal, skip the unsuitable set.
| Previewed level | Strength gained? | Listed gains |
|---|---|---|
| 29 | Yes | Includes Strength |
| 30 | Yes | Includes Strength |
| 31 | No | Dexterity, Defense, Luck, Charm |
| 32 | Yes | Strength, Defense, Magic |
- 1After previewing, reload the chapter-start save to recover the turns spent on the preview.
- 2Complete quests and battles normally to raise
Halvin to level 30. - 3Return to town for one certification exam, then reach level 31 to get the Strength, Defense, and Magic originally previewed for level 32.
Preview
Catania too. If two consecutive levels miss her goals, reload, take two exams first, then check the new results. Schedule each character separately without changing everyone’s levels for one person.
Reload after the automatic preview, then level normally
Automatic actions reveal which later level requires a return to town. Preview, reload, then continue requests and maps. Return for an exam shortly before the unwanted level-up.
If the next set is still poor, reload, take another exam, and check again. This plan raised
Halvin’s Strength into the forties, letting her one-shot armor with a Hammer and contribute in Part 2. The cost is repeated saving, loading, and level-by-level checking. Do not spend the entire schedule previewing.

Develop separate stats across routes for Merge Causality
Cross-route training becomes especially valuable for Part 3 Merge Causality. To improve
Guzran’s Defense, dedicate one route to armor and use exams to skip levels without Defense. Other routes continue developing his offensive strengths.
For
Halvin, build Strength on one route, use
Charioteer with a +2 Movement mount on
Cai’s route, and improve Speed and Dexterity on others. After merging, switch to
Forest Knight to combine high Strength with eight Movement.
Focusing one route on one stat is easier than demanding every stat at every level. The same steps work if you simply want to remove one poor level-up with only one or two gains.
