Ovate directly to The Avatar for dual magic

Nagatomo's character tier list recommends The Avatar for Hong Hua, training Black Magic to S and White Magic to B for more Bolting and Resquia uses. This site connects her starting Ovate class directly to that endpoint without inserting a Druid stage the source did not require.

Hong Hua’s Black Magic follow-ups and dual-magic Divine class

Train Hong Hua in Black Magic from her starting Ovate, become a Druid around level 45, then target The Avatar for Divine. Her personal Magic, Speed, Dexterity, and Resistance growths are all 45%. With accuracy from Zhu Ming, she suits Black Magic follow-ups. To retain healing and movement support, leave room for a class that permits White Magic.

Continue directly from Ovate in Part 3

She joins through the prologue story and returns as a playable ally at the start of Part 3. None of the four protagonists can recruit her during Parts 1 or 2. Start from her current Ovate: she joins at level 40, so there is no need to retrain Commoner or Beginner classes. Ovate's recommended exam level is 35.

Ovate mainly requires Black Magic B and recommended Renown 8. It adds black spell uses and Magic Hit +5, with SpdBinding Curse as mastery. Continue to Black Magic A and Master Druid, recommended at level 45. It improves Magic and Speed, doubles black spell uses, and grants Magic Hit +7, with ResBinding Curse as mastery. This route concentrates on one strong proficiency without opening physical training for exams.

The Avatar is the divine endpoint; either Black Magic S or White Magic S meets the corresponding proficiency requirement. It grants All-Magic Zenith for triple Black and White Magic uses, plus Magic Hit +10 and Magic Heal +20. Mastering Divine Law adds 10 Magic. Obtain the relevant item and Part 3 unlock first. There is no fixed recommended level for divine qualification; change once eligible.

White Magic is also a strength, allowing a healing role. Druid permits only Black Magic, losing White Magic after changing. Stay Ovate or choose The Avatar to retain both offense and support.

Zhu Ming improves accuracy rather than damage

Zhu Ming adds Hit +10 with magic equipped, improving accuracy without directly increasing spell Might or Attack Speed. For a one-round kill, check single-hit damage from Magic, then whether Speed and spell weight allow a follow-up.

Her personal growths are HP 40%, Strength 30%, Magic 45%, Speed 45%, Dexterity 45%, Defense 30%, Resistance 45%, Luck 30%, and Charm 40%, totaling 350. Magic, Speed, Dexterity, and Resistance form her main advantages. HP and Defense do not reach frontline standards. She excels in both magic types and struggles with Axe and Heavy Armor. Magic training follows her strengths for certification.

Judge Magic and Speed together

Prioritize Magic, Speed, Dexterity, and HP when checking growth. Magic determines damage, Speed at 45% supports follow-up potential and Avoid, Dexterity helps accuracy and criticals, and HP at 40% provides a buffer against attacks. Personal accuracy does not replace these benchmarks. Being able to hit does not mean she cannot suffer enemy follow-ups.

Low Strength, Defense, Luck, or Charm relative to expectation does not require abandoning Black Magic. Strength and Charm are not the main spell-damage stats. Handle low Defense through back-line positioning; Luck is not a priority investment for this route. Resistance 45% generally grows naturally with levels. She can take some magical attacks, but low HP and Defense require avoiding physical focus fire.

Availability limits her contribution across the campaign

Her overall rating is B. Magic, Speed, Dexterity, and Resistance all grow at 45%, supporting accurate magical follow-ups. Zhu Ming adds Hit. Strengths in both Black and White Magic also permit support roles.

There are three limitations: magic has finite uses, so long maps do not allow unlimited casts of one spell; HP 40% and Defense 30% require someone else to hold the physical front; and she is unavailable in Parts 1 and 2, so cannot count toward those chapters' strength. Invest if the Part 3 team needs a mage.

Separate advanced fire damage from wall creation

Her attacks include Bolganone: 5 base uses, Might 10, Hit 85, Weight 8, range 1–2, and no extra Critical. It is a regular damage option that benefits from Zhu Ming's Magic Hit bonus when equipped. The support spell Wandering Wall has 5 base uses and range 1, creating a wall at a chosen location. It changes passable tiles rather than dealing Might-based attack damage.

More spells require their respective proficiency ranks: Thoron at Black Magic A+, Bolting at S, Rescue at White Magic B, and Warp at S. Train each requirement separately.

At level 60, MagAmplify+ has a Magic /2% chance after combat to grant Attack +7 for the next battle, ending after one combat. It is not a guaranteed +7 before the current attack. Raising Magic improves both ordinary spell damage and this activation chance.

Dual magic can make the Divine class a support endpoint

To prioritize uses of long-range magic and rescue, remain in Ovate, train Black Magic S and White Magic B, then become The Avatar after Divine certification. This avoids the Druid stage without White Magic, aiming for more Bolting and Rescue uses. Black S and White B are this setup’s training goals; the Divine exam still follows its formal requirements.

This differs from first becoming Druid to strengthen Black Magic offense. One preserves both functions throughout, while the other establishes damage first. It also occupies a Divine slot and needs dedicated proficiency training time.

Plan gifts after story recruitment

She is a story ally and needs no Support or Renown stockpile for cross-route recruitment. She joins in the prologue's Chapter 2, during the first battle at Kunlun, with her main later availability in Part 3. She likes memories of happier times.

Supplementary gift choices include Common Coffee, Select Coffee, Southern Coffee, Orgus Coffee, Simple Pastries, Mellow Pastries, Fragrant Pastries, and Coffee Pastries, all listed as favorites. She also likes The Works of Dante, The Knight's Suitors, and Tales of the Arena. These are everyday Support gifts, not negotiation items for recruitment.

Her Support conversation partners are Eshmel and Sha Lan. Her Japanese voice actor is Airi Otsu.

Verdict in brief

Keep Hong Hua in Ovate initially in Part 3 to improve both magic types. Pursue The Avatar if you want long-range attacks, Rescue, and Warp together.

White Magic B teaches Rescue and S teaches Warp; she does not arrive with both automatically. Druid is an option for dedicated Black Magic damage. Readiness depends on training, not simply joining at level 40.

Class progression by stage

Part 1: Unrecruitable on all four routes

Hong Hua is available in the prologue and Part 3. None of the four Part 1 protagonist routes can recruit her, so you cannot train her from a low-level Diviner.

Part 2: Still unavailable

Hong Hua still cannot be formally recruited or used in Part 2. Schedule reclassing, mounts, and equipment training after she rejoins in Part 3.

Part 3: Fill proficiency gaps first

Check her stats and spell list when she joins. She arrives around level 40 as an Ovate with only White Magic C, so movement spells still need training. Train after rebuilding the arena or use stored manuals for Black and White Magic.

Thoron requires Black Magic A+, while Bolting requires S. Do not reverse them.

Keep both magic types or focus on Black Magic
Ovate and The Avatar

Main path: retain both magic types in Ovate, then consider The Avatar. It needs Black Magic S or White Magic S, the unlock item, and Divine certification. Both magic types remain available, combining long-range attacks with movement support. Divine Law grants Magic +10 after mastery, not immediately on reclassing. Stay Ovate if the slot or training is unavailable.

Druid for dedicated Black Magic

Alternative: switch to Druid at level 45 and Black Magic A. Complete the class unlock too. This focuses Black Magic damage but gives up White Magic Rescue and Warp. Another training plan borrows The Avatar for a passive before returning to the target magic class, which costs additional investment.

Challenge setups also need spell uses and sustain. Use Salamander to replenish spells, with Levin Sword, magic Combat Arts, Sacred Gem, and strong recovery items. Weapon qualifications, forging, critical conditions, and consumables must all be ready; copying the inventory still requires that investment.

Zhu Ming adds Hit +10 while magic is equipped, providing an accuracy foundation. Amplify Magic+ is learned only at level 60. After combat, it triggers with a percentage chance equal to half Magic and gives Attack +7 in the next combat. Plan kills around damage that works without it, rather than treating the chance-based bonus as permanent.

Ovate, Druid, and The Avatar are all on-foot options without mounts. Assign Battalions and Blessings to current team gaps first. Normal progression does not require reaching level 99 for this challenge setup.

Hong Hua’s Simplified Chinese inventory shows Thoron at 0/12 and Bolting at 0/3 in the lower left, with medicines still in the upper left. Check remaining uses and recovery supplies before planning another long-range attack.

Attack from the backline or defend home in the final battle

In ordinary combat, stay safely behind the front and remove threats with learned ranged spells. Add Rescue and Warp only while retaining both magic types. To handle a dangerous target, clear enemies that could focus on her first, then use refreshes to reposition or attack again. Do not enter a physical surround for one extra hit.

One final-battle approach leaves Hong Hua defending home and clearing miasma while others open gates, then regroup. When healer reinforcements appear, use learned Wandering Wall to occupy spawn tiles. First deal with beasts whose area attacks remove walls, or the walls will be destroyed. This three-person strategy leaves her at home; other lineups can divide jobs differently.

Recruitment details

She joins through the story in the prologue and Part 3. Gifts and Support cannot unlock her on the four Part 1 routes. See Hong Hua’s recruitment for chapters.

Rescue and Warp need separate training

  • Treating the spell list as her initial usable list. White Magic C gives neither B-rank Rescue nor S-rank Warp. Schedule training first.
  • Changing to Druid while still reserving her Warp for the team. White-magic access is gone. Choose a class retaining both types when repositioning is needed.
  • Training only Eshmel and leaving Hong Hua in her joining state. Split forces and the final battle may need her independent offense and support. Train her early in Part 3.
  • Copying level 99 equipment into ordinary progression. Gems, medicine, spell uses, and critical triggers all have conditions. Check your own resources.
