Catania, Ludia, and Loretta use conditional Avoid to go beyond raw Speed. Start physical builds in Pugilist, then Ranger, and choose Avoid or mobility after collecting late masteries.

Each character's conditional Avoid

My picks are Catania, Ludia, and Loretta. High Speed alone is not enough. Jester has 60 Speed growth and joins at level 14 on Dietrich's route. I trained him in Pugilist and Ranger to keep building Speed, yet he still had only seventy or eighty Avoid in Part 3. The trio's extra Avoid is what pushes enemy Hit into single digits.

Extra Avoid has conditions

Each character's 20-point bonus has conditions. Meet them before counting on the extra Avoid.

CharacterAvoid condition
CataniaLevel 35 upgraded ability; Attack Speed exceeds the enemy's by at least 8.
LudiaLevel 35 upgraded ability; able to follow up.
LorettaPersonal ability adds 10 at half HP or higher; level 35 full-HP ability adds another 10.

Physical dodge tanks need Strength and Speed first

A dodge tank still needs power. Dodging without hurting enemies offers less value. Start physical builds in Pugilist for simultaneous Strength and Speed growth. They become effective in their twenties, and can stay in Pugilist after level 35. Do not change simply to enter an advanced class.

I prefer switching to Ranger at level 35 for three reasons: better relevant growths, bows to handle fliers in Part 2, and early sword training. You will need Sword S later. Starting early avoids a large last-minute catch-up.

Collect Divine masteries before choosing a final class

In Part 3, raise Sword to S and get the masteries from The Blade and The Eternal for Speed and Strength respectively. Then choose your final class. For more Avoid, take War Monk. For better mobility and sword access, take the Wing Soldier line. The latter can also add Swordmaster's mastery combat art for another burst-kill option.

Magic builds stay in Shaman to preserve Speed growth

Ludia has only 20 Magic growth, so the magic branch suits the other two better. Follow normal magic classes early, then stay in Shaman at level 35 to avoid reducing Speed growth by switching to Ovate. Later, collect the masteries first and choose War Monk or the Wing Soldier line.

Part 3's Salamander is powerful, and Catania also has good white magic, making a magic-focused War Monk appealing. War Monk uses gauntlets and white magic. A magic-damage weapon is different from casting black magic, so use the tools the class actually permits after switching.
