Character rankings across two routes: Healing Range, armored control, and late-game slotsMajor spoilers
Leda can hand the Dancer role to someone else and use bows. Sofia can immediately fill a ranged healing role, while armored units need to keep pace and hold enemies in place.

In Part 3, Leda can give Dancer to a teammate, keep her songs, and train bows. For missing healing, check Sofia’s range; for a missing frontliner, check whether armor can keep up and hold enemies in place. Include joining time in training costs.
Choose characters by recruitment timing and role
I played
Leda’s and
Dietrich’s routes. Recruitment timing changes a character’s performance. Training someone from the start is very different from bringing them in late. When building a team, I care more about which problems they solve.
In Classic mode, chance-based abilities are extra benefits. A proc can be excellent, but the possibility of one is no reason to gamble a character’s life. Dietrich’s healing on critical hits fits sword builds’ high Critical well. Add a healing accessory and his offense can sustain him.
Give another teammate the Dancer role and switch Leda to bows
Leda has powerful group buffs and high Speed growth. Having her use
Dance on her own route is comfortable early on. In Part 3, I would rather give Dancer and
The Apsara to other characters and have her train with bows for counterattacks and damage.
The reason is that in her Blaze state, she can still attack after playing her instrument. Keeping her group buffs while adding bow damage suits my approach better than dancing once every turn. Assign another character to refresh allies, and the team can split those two jobs.
Swapping offense and defense, plus frontline healing
Bertrand can use swords, axes, and gauntlets. Give him a lighter sword for follow-up attacks, or an axe for damage in a single hit.
Talimun’s value lies in control. Swapping an enemy’s Strength and Magic, or Defense and Resistance, can directly change how you approach the battle. Ordinary poison or confusion struggles to replace that effect.
Orchel suits the
Guardian line, which can shore up Resistance. She can hold the front while healing teammates. When she heals an ally with magic, she also heals herself, connecting her tanking and healing roles. Overblaze adds a powerful Burst as well.
Mu’s gauntlets and Sirocco’s spells
On
Leda’s route,
Mu can be trained from early on and develop Strength, Speed, Dexterity, and Defense together. I have her train gauntlets, avoid rushing a class change at the advanced stage, and switch to
Battlemaster at Master tier. Gauntlets benefit from Strength and Speed bonuses, giving her both damage and Avoid.
Sirocco has group healing, anti-air magic, and long-range offensive spells, with respectable Strength and Magic. I would rather focus him on black magic while carrying
Levin Sword, using his Speed and Avoid on the front line. His
Goddess’s Favor restores 5 HP after combat. Evaluate his random Avoid separately; you cannot position him as though it always gives its maximum value.
Ranged healing and bow Combat Art Range
Sofia has
Physic and abilities affecting healing amount and healing Range. Reaching the front line from a safe position gives you much more freedom in formation. Healing also depends less on gaining Strength and Speed at every earlier level than physical damage does. Even if she joins late, she can take over healing immediately.
The same principle applies to
Peter. One extra tile of bow Combat Art Range lets you deal damage from a safer distance and gives you another positioning option. The extra Range here applies specifically to bow Combat Arts. If he lacks Strength, classes such as
Brigand or chariot options can help, but that extra tile is valuable in itself.
Attack Speed conditions and Nosferatu survival
Catania has high Speed growth and can readily benefit from an Attack Speed lead once developed. Several of her abilities depend on being ahead in Attack Speed.
| Required Attack Speed lead | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Lead of 3 | Hit bonus |
| Lead of 5 | Attack bonus |
| Lead of 8 | Avoid bonus |
Giving her an overly heavy weapon undermines those advantages.
Olympia takes a Nosferatu counterattack approach. First check whether she survives the hit and whether the enemy follows up, then how much HP her counterattack restores. Once she clears that survival threshold, she can recover from a situation where she has only a sliver of HP left. Critical hits and damage bonuses raise her Burst further.
Add armor mobility and adjacent control
Armored units’ biggest problem is low mobility. They struggle to keep pace, and mages threaten them when isolated. A frontliner with
Armored Move is valuable because it addresses that weakness.
Goliath offers another approach: reducing adjacent enemies’ Movement makes it harder for nearby melee enemies to leave. Not every map has a chokepoint, and you cannot always form a defensive wall. Have him hold firm and keep enemies around him so the back line has room for ranged attacks.
Loretta suits an Avoid build. She is easy to recruit early, and you can start sharing meals and giving gifts beforehand. Her Avoid and Attack bonuses have separate HP conditions. She gains some Avoid above half HP and extra benefits at full HP, so reassess after she takes damage.
Roles for late recruits
Nathan and
Creek join in Part 2 and have solid growth. Nathan can go armored if you need a frontliner, while Creek leans more toward fast physical damage.
I rate
Io and
Peppe lower on these two routes. Io’s Strength, Speed, and Defense do not particularly stand out, while Peppe joins late and takes effort to build into a damage dealer.
Alexandra has high Speed and flying mobility, but her adjacent Hit and Avoid bonuses require allies to keep up. Flying off alone loses those benefits.
Ursula also joins late. I would rather make her a Dancer and use her Speed and Avoid for support. Instead of forcing her into a main damage role, let her contribute by refreshing allies.
