Recruiting characters with extra requirementsMajor spoilers
For Gaitz, do not miss 9/17 on Dietrich’s route; for Fabio, wait until 11/4 on Leda’s route. Prepare paralogues, three-stage quest chains, materials, and War story finishing blows separately.

If you meet the Support and Renown requirements but still cannot recruit someone, check their paralogue, quest chain, materials, and main story progress first.
You need to clear the paralogue on your current route, turn in every stage of the quest chain, and have enough materials. You also need to check whether the main story has eliminated the other character’s team.
For Gaitz and Fabio in particular, the chapter where you first meet them does not tell you when you can recruit them.
| Who you want to recruit | What to do first |
|---|---|
Gaitz | Dietrich’s route only. Accept and complete Bertrand’s paralogue during the day on 9/17, then wait until Chapter 12 |
Fabio | Joins automatically on Dietrich’s route. Leda’s is the only other route where you can recruit him; clear Dietrich’s paralogue, then wait until 11/4 or later |
Olympia, Jester | Complete all three stages of each character’s quest chain |
Mu and other characters who ask for materials | Stockpile the required materials before negotiating recruitment |
Creek, Nathan | Complete “My Late Sister's Accessory” in Part 1 of Dietrich’s or Leda’s route, then defeat them in order in the War story |
See Paralogue list for all paralogue dates and Recruitment tables by route for the usual Renown and Support requirements. Recruitment conditions in Parts 2 and 3 involve later story events.

Gaitz’s prerequisite paralogue is only available on 9/17
Gaitz has four requirements: the right route, a time-limited paralogue, Support, and story progress. Your Renown will usually reach 10 as the story progresses, but check it before you negotiate.
You can meet Gaitz in Chapter 4, but you cannot recruit him until Chapter 12. Give him gifts to build Support early, complete Bertrand’s paralogue, then wait until the Chapter 11 main story is over. If you miss 9/17, simply restarting once does not fix the record. Replay the Chapter 9 paralogue, progress to Chapter 12 and actually recruit him, then update your clear data so later stories use the corrected record.

Fabio can only be recruited cross-route in Leda’s story
The easiest way to use Fabio is to play Dietrich’s route, where he joins through the story in Chapter 1. If you want to recruit him on another route, Leda’s is your only option. You need 9 Renown, Support 3, a cleared Dietrich paralogue, and the date to be 11/4 or later. All four conditions are required.
In Chapter 11 of Leda’s route, speak to Fabio in the plaza outside the Grand Arena from 10/16 to 10/29 to accept Dietrich's Paralogue: Sealed-Off Past. The battle deadline is 11/1. After clearing it, wait for the main story to eliminate Dietrich’s team, then negotiate on 11/4 or later. Da Mina weapons have worked for recruitment; the Da Mina Gauntlet listed in the project’s records is another option. He returns the item you give him.
You can also accept this paralogue on Theodora’s route from 10/16 to 10/21, with a deadline of 10/24, but you cannot recruit Fabio there. Check the recruitment route before completing the relevant paralogue.
When collecting Support conversations, watch the route, chapter, and whether both characters have joined. If you want all of Fabio and Halvin’s conversations, check the Support lock records before deciding whether to adjust your progress.
Clear the paralogue, then meet the Renown requirement and negotiate
Characters who join through the story on their own route do not need the detours in this table. See Paralogue list for dates.
| Character | Required paralogue | Eligible routes and remaining requirements |
|---|---|---|
Tialla | Cai's Paralogue: Great Escape | Dietrich/ Theodora/ Leda; Support 3, Renown 9/10/8 respectively, plus 3000G |
Buccar | Leda's Paralogue: Diversionary Tactics | Dietrich/ Theodora; Support 3, Renown 8 |
Ursula | Talimun's Paralogue: Secret of the Vanished Carriage | Cai/ Dietrich/ Theodora; Support 3, Renown 10/7/9; answer “Yes” to all three questions |
Peppe | Bertrand's Paralogue: Friendly Match with Brigid's King | Cai: Support 1, Renown 9; Dietrich: Support 3, Renown 8; Theodora: Support 2, Renown 7 |
Diego | Orchel's Paralogue: Orchel's Regret | All four routes; Cai 10/3, Dietrich 9/3, Theodora 8/2, Leda 8/3 (Renown/Support) |
Sha Lan | Anatolia's Paralogue: Queen of the Erased | Dietrich: Renown 10; Leda: Renown 8; Support 3 on both routes, then complete the dialogue questions |
When negotiating with Sha Lan, choose “Understood” → “Kingdom of Saramis” → “Da Mina” → “Grounded Ship.” Three knowledge questions follow the opening response, so you need to make all four selections.
Check the dates first: Leda’s paralogue runs from 9/2–9/8; Bertrand’s is only available on 9/17 on Dietrich’s route; Talimun’s has separate windows in September and October; Anatolia’s runs from 10/5–10/14; Cai’s starts on 10/16 and has a mandatory battle date; Orchel’s starts on 10/18, with the shortest acceptance window on Cai’s route. Clearing a paralogue once does not automatically fulfill its recruitment prerequisite on other routes.
Return to turn in every stage of a three-part quest chain
Olympia joins through the story on Leda’s route. On each of the other three routes, you need Support 3 and 8 Renown on Cai’s route, 6 on Dietrich’s, or 9 on Theodora’s, then complete all three requests. Here is where to obtain the items:
| Stage | What to find | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Crimson Drop | Daybreak Plains |
| 2 | Golden Rose | Cai: Clytios Plain; Dietrich/ Theodora: buy it at Baina Oasis |
| 3 | Azure Heart | Cai: Valhalla Mine; Dietrich/ Theodora: Azure Crystal Cave |
The last two items are also listed with the same locations for every route: Clytios Plain and Valhalla Mine. The table separates them by route; check the destination in your quest log before setting out.
Jester requires Support 3 on all four routes. The Renown requirements are Cai 10, Dietrich 6, Theodora 9, and Leda 10. Defeat these enemies in order across the three stages: the Bale Lacerators in Dada Plains → Corpse-Gaol Dunanzo in Valhalla Mine → the Underworld Wanderers at Whispering Peak. Return to turn in each stage and accept the next one before continuing. Winning just one of these battles does not let you recruit him.

Collect and save recruitment materials in advance
| Character | Amount to hand over | Locations or methods given in player guides |
|---|---|---|
Mu | Glirmosa ×3 | The Pasithea region in the west; occasionally found in Zephyr Hills near Dagsion |
Nezha | Sandworm Meat ×3 | Sandworms in the western desert and Heretics’ Cave; also sold in Gila Village near Amru |
Halvin | Dates ×10 | On routes with access to the west, explore or buy them at an oasis. On Cai’s route, “Huge Hairy Beasts” (q-037) becomes available in Chapter 8 from 7/20 and awards only 2; grow more until you have 10 |
Dadao | Kothar Gar ×2 | Fish outside Dagsion or at Lake Kothar to the south |
Goliath | Giants' Meat ×3 | On routes other than Cai’s with access to the western desert, fight dungeon giants across multiple chapters. For Cai, look into trading for meat at the merchant guild, obtaining Torment Grass and growing more, or random Meat Crates |
Ninae | Paradise Fish ×1 | Fish at Lake Brontes near Megaira |
Mu joins through the story on Leda’s route, so you do not need to pay Glirmosa. Halvin needs 10 Dates. When deciding whom to recruit on each route, factor in the travel and time needed to collect materials.
Save the weapons, Pure Water, fish, meat, and Dates you need for recruitment ahead of time. You need 10 Dates; wait until you have enough before negotiating.
Stockpile Giants' Meat according to where your route can travel
Collect giant drops over several chapters. Each giant at a fixed spawn drops 1 portion per kill; fight it again in another chapter. Dungeon giants do not respawn until the next chapter. Collect the 3 portions over multiple chapters; the Chinese map and drop tables list this dungeon as “Sand-Shadow Fort.” Round trips cost turns, so schedule your time-limited paralogues first rather than missing their windows to farm meat.
Merchant guild trades and random crates require you to obtain the material first. You can trade 10 Torment Grass for 1 Giants' Meat, but the grass grows naturally in the west, which Cai cannot reach. One option is to get grass from a Luxury Veg. Crate, then grow more to trade for meat. Another is to get meat at random from a Meat Crate. Both require that initial material, and the spoken descriptions disagree on crate types. Vegetable crates do not guarantee Giants' Meat, and random crates are not as reliable as giant drops.
Giants respawn each chapter. Once you have cleared them, wait until the next chapter. Travel from the desert oasis to the fort dungeon, defeat the giant, and collect Giants' Meat. Once the map shows “All enemies defeated,” they will not reappear until free time in the next chapter.
If you need three portions of meat, first count what you already have, then check whether you have cleared the dungeon this chapter. Collect the rest across chapters; leaving and reentering during the same chapter does not reset it.
Get the first Dates for Halvin, then grow enough for 10
Cai’s route without farming random crates: Accept “Huge Hairy Beasts” (q-037) in Chapter 8 from 7/20. It awards only 2 Dates, enough to start growing more but not enough to negotiate recruitment. Use the quest reward to expand your crop until you have 10. You still need to grow more after receiving those 2, so you cannot recruit him immediately on 7/20.
To try for an earlier start, use random crates and then grow more. Save before buying a vegetable crate. If you get your first Date, plant it; otherwise, reload and try again.
Recruit Creek before defeating Nathan
From Chapter 9 of Part 1 on Dietrich’s or Leda’s route, speak to
Creek to accept “My Late Sister's Accessory.” The acceptance windows are 8/10–10/4 for Dietrich and 7/12–10/15 for Leda. Go to Axion Valley, find the Violet Brooch, and turn it in.
Then continue into the War story with the same protagonist:
- 1In Showdown at Agris Stronghold, defeat Creek when he appears in the northwest of the map. He joins in Beyond the Salt Road.
- 2In Chapter 3, have Creek land the finishing blow on
Nathan. Other characters can weaken him first. Nathan joins in The Storming of Dagsion.
Approach Nathan, who arrives with the first wave of reinforcements, through the alley on the right. Keep Dante behind the front line to heal, give Creek a weapon effective against cavalry, and use Kalla’s Blessing to help. The key is to leave the finishing blow for Creek.
Nathan must be defeated in Chapter 3 and joins in Chapter 4. When recruiting these two, play through the battles needed to meet their recruitment conditions before considering skipping later chapters. You cannot switch protagonists midway through the War story to fulfill missing conditions.
Check paralogues and guest survival before the Promised One’s story
| Character | When | Prerequisites |
|---|---|---|
Bertrand | Limited participation in the first battle of segment 1 | Complete Bertrand’s paralogue on any route |

Orchel | Limited participation in the first battle of segment 1; also listed as joining in segment 2 | Complete Orchel’s paralogue on any route |
Anatolia | Limited participation in the first battle of segment 1; also listed as joining in segment 2 | Complete Anatolia’s paralogue on any route |
Centurio | Segment 2 | Approach Aurora’s temple to accept “Rescue Centurio.” Complete it, then return to Dagsion and speak to him |
Aswan, Tahonia | After defeating Hanno in segment 4 and returning to the imperial capital (the start of segment 5) | Keep both guests alive in Chapter 3 of the War story |
Klapka | After the Mahadu battle in segment 5 and returning to the imperial capital (the start of segment 6) | Complete Theodora’s Part 1 and War story, and keep Klapka alive in the Mahadu battle |
Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia initially have limited participation in the first battle. They arrive as reinforcements after you deplete the boss’s first health bar. Check the roster after the battle to see whether you can deploy them.
Complete the relevant Part 1 paralogue beforehand and keep your clear data.
Centurio’s side quest is available in segment 2 from 1454/2/1–6/6. Prioritize it when you approach the temple.
