Recruit for the gaps in your route

Recruit Yang Jie first on Cai’s route, Kiroc or Io on Dietrich’s, Sofia on Theodora’s, and Catania or Guzran on Leda’s.

Account for your story recruits first, then choose characters with low requirements to fill the gaps on your route.

RouteAvailable on this routeEasy first recruitsWhy
Cai’s route40 charactersYang Jie, GuzranYang Jie requires Renown 3, Bond 2, and a quiz; his healing frees Tialla to attack. Give Guzran his first gift and invite him during the tutorial
Dietrich’s route43 charactersKiroc, Io, Yang JieKiroc fills your archer slot at low cost: Renown 4, Bond 1, and 3 Pure Water. Io requires Renown 3, Bond 2, and 800G
Theodora’s route43 charactersSofia, Sirocco, ZarconeSofia provides long-range healing for little investment; give her first gift during the tutorial. Sirocco requires Renown 5, Bond 1, and his personal quest
Leda’s route41 charactersCatania, GuzranCatania is the tutorial recruit. Guzran fills an early melee slot at Renown 3 and Bond 1. Give both their first gift

“Available on this route” counts both story recruits and characters you can recruit in Part 1 on that route (46 recruitable characters overall, excluding the four protagonists).

On Dietrich’s route, Kiroc requires Renown 4, Bond 1, and Pure Water ×3. Give the first gift, then check the negotiation requirements.

Choose the characters you will train
  1. 1
Account for story recruits first, then identify the roles your team lacks.
  2. 2
Compare candidates for each role by their skill strengths, growth rates, and powerful level 35 skills to see whether they can reach the Advanced or Master classes you need.
  3. 3
After comparing them, train the candidate who best fits your team in that role.

Use your Part 2 lineup as a recruiting target: Train around 13 characters, including your protagonist. Aim for at least 2 Physic users, preferably Sofia, followed by Olympia; Tialla and Yang Jie also work. Add 2 archers (Nuzzuo, Peter), 2 armored units (Esmeralda, Goliath), 2–3 fliers (Catania, Alexandra, Loretta), and magic attackers (Ultand, Olympia, Dante).

In Part 1, focus on around 6 core units and 2 secondary units. Expand to around 13 for Part 2’s larger deployment limits. You do not need to train every character you collect at once.

Yang Jie in Dietrich’s early team: a level 5 Diviner with D in both black and white magic at the upper right. Before assigning him to fill your healing slot, check his available spells and training plan.

Cai’s route

Route recruits: Tialla and Peter (Chapter 1), Guzran (Chapter 3, month 2, tutorial recruit), and Ultand (Chapter 6).

One practical approach is to train your story and tutorial recruits first, then add Majide to absorb damage, Nuzzuo for effective damage, and Ninae as a later armored unit. The priority is giving them time to develop, rather than training every recruitable character in Part 1. Another option is to recruit Yang Jie first. The first approach trusts your route’s healer and adds frontline units and attackers; if healing is what you lack, fill that role first. Nuzzuo only appears in month 7, so this recommendation does not mean you can recruit him immediately at the start.

Recruits to fill missing roles:

  • Yang Jie: Joins early and handles healing, allowing you to develop Tialla as an attacker.
  • Nuzzuo: High Strength and Speed make follow-up attacks easy. His personal skill increases Attack when dealing effective damage. He only appears on 7/1 in Chapter 7 of Cai’s route, and recruitment also requires Renown 6, Bond 2, and 3 Iron Bows.
  • Esmeralda: High HP, Strength, and Defense make her a wall. Strengths in spears, axes, and heavy armor give her a smooth path into armored classes.
  • Loretta: High Speed. Her personal skill grants Avoid +10 when HP is at least half.
  • Sirocco: High Dexterity and Speed provide reliable magic accuracy and follow-ups. Can use both black and white magic.

Another set of recommendations: Yang Jie (early availability, high growths, and a rare magic role), Esmeralda (one of the strongest tanks, though difficult to negotiate with), and Guzran (early availability, high growths, and both tanking and attacking potential).

Low-requirement picks: The three easiest recruits on this route are Guzran, Noctula, and Yang Jie.

Assigning everyone across four routes (to collect every character across all four routes, see Four-route recruitment plan): Cai’s route covers Goliath, Majide, Ninae, Nydine, Seteth, and Peppe. For Peppe, complete Bertrand’s paralogue during 9/17–9/25.

Another approach emphasizes later damage and mount investment. To free up a slot for stronger magic damage, recruit Olympia later. Keep Peter for his distinctive range; Guzran is easy to recruit and covers melee, while Mu is a mid-to-late-game candidate. This approach replaces a damage role with a new mage and supports it with mount development. Tialla can stay on the team. Meet Olympia’s Bond and Renown requirements and complete her three quests, then fit her in during the mid-to-late game.

Unavailable on Cai’s route: Fabio, Bonaventure, Tobias, Buccar, Sha Lan, and Gaitz.

Dietrich’s route

Route recruits: Fabio (Chapter 1), Esmeralda (Chapter 2), Mikaela (Chapter 4), and Yang Jie (Chapter 4, month 3, tutorial recruit).

Early recruitment priorities: Consider Io and Kiroc early. Io fills a cavalry slot for Renown 3, Bond 2, and 800G; Kiroc fills your archer slot for Renown 4, Bond 1, and 3 Pure Water. If you can invest more, add Jester as a fast melee attacker and Goliath as a second tank. Gaitz is strong, but joins too late to solve your early Part 1 needs.

Your early route companions already have a full development window, so prioritize additional recruits available before Renown 6–7. You can recruit Olympia at Renown 6; her long-range healing justifies completing three quests. Mu is also worth training at Renown 7, but remember the cost of Glirmosa ×3. Avoid recruiting someone late on your current route and replacing an established teammate solely because that character is strong in Part 3.

If your concern is simply that Dietrich himself might be too weak, one option is normal sword progression: develop his own sword damage first. He can serve as a core unit without repeated clears. Repeatedly training every stat for the “strongest save file” is a separate investment goal; see Merge Causality.

Recruits to fill missing roles:

  • Kiroc: High Speed and Dexterity give him strong follow-ups and accuracy. His personal skill adds Attack and Critical against enemies with status conditions. Requires Bond 1, Renown 4, and 3 Pure Water.
  • Mu: A melee fighter with high Strength, Speed, and Dexterity. His personal skill improves the chance of gaining base stats.
  • Guzran: High Strength and Speed. Top Form+ boosts one of Hit, Avoid, or Critical.
  • Catania: High Speed and Dexterity suit flying classes with a wide movement range.
  • Peter: His personal skill grants bow Combat Arts Range +1, and his Dexterity is very high.
  • Sofia: Her personal skill adds +10 healing, and at level 35 she gains healing magic Range +2.

Use Kiroc or Peter at range, Sofia for healing, and Mu or Guzran for melee.

Another set of recommendations: Kiroc (early availability, high growths, and a strong archer), plus Peter and Dante (both are late recruits but can fight immediately; Dante is a primary black magic attacker who increases allies’ Avoid within 2 spaces).

Dietrich can also build a team around Bertrand’s faction. These characters have moderate Renown requirements and support relationships with each other. Dante requires Renown 8; following Diviner → black magic keeps his magic progression reliable even if his stats turn out poorly. Gaitz and Peppe join after Bertrand’s paralogue and can switch straight to Chariot: “four chariots can rush through the story.” Goliath only needs three pieces of Giants’ Meat once you meet his Renown requirement, and forms a double frontline with Esmeralda. This lineup requires relatively few resources.

A White-Haired Demon team can use support relationships within the faction for a low-investment lineup. Keep Dante on a magic path, with Goliath and Esmeralda on the frontline. Gaitz and Peppe have their own prerequisites; Gaitz in particular must wait until Chapter 12 and cannot be recruited immediately after the paralogue. Treat this as a mid-to-late-game team goal. If you lack an archer or cavalry early, use the Kiroc and Io options above. Four Chariots are not a universal Part 3 solution.

When you need to advance on two fronts, fill these roles: Goliath (Renown 6, a second tank; Dietrich’s route often splits your forces), Kiroc (Renown 4, your earliest archer), Olympia (Renown 6, long-range healing before Sofia is available), and Jester (Renown 6, high Speed and Attack). Fabio is also worth continued training to retain your route’s magic damage.

Low-requirement picks: The three easiest recruits are Io, Yang Jie, and Kiroc.

Four-route recruitment assignments: Dante, Io, Jester, Kiroc, Noctula, Gaitz, Sha Lan, and Ursula. For Sha Lan, see the correction to the assignment plan: Dietrich’s route requires Renown 10, while Leda’s requires Renown 8. Move her to Leda’s route if efficiency is your priority.

Two deadlines on Dietrich’s route
  • 9/17 (Chapter 9): Bertrand’s paralogue is available only on this day. Miss it and you lose Gaitz.
  • Chapter 9 also has Leda’s paralogue (9/2–9/8), Theodora’s (from 9/3), and Talimun’s (9/17–9/19 or 10/1–10/10). Chapter 11 has Anatolia’s, Cai’s, and Orchel’s. This route has the most paralogues.

Unavailable on Dietrich’s route: Bonaventure, Tobias, and Seteth.

Theodora’s route

Route recruits: Bonaventure and Tobias (Chapter 1), Lilian and Lysander (Chapter 4), and Sofia (Chapter 5, month 3, tutorial recruit).

One approach prioritizes Sirocco above all: Sofia already handles main healing and Bonaventure covers magic, so the missing role is a swordsman who can manage melee independently. Train Sirocco in swords here and magic on Leda’s route, then consider merging the different results later. Once you have enough units, pick either Nuzzuo or Ninae as your resources allow.

Another approach also recruits Sirocco first, using Theodora’s earlier requirements to develop him in a different direction, though it still favors magic. Both approaches recruit Sirocco first, then choose between swords and magic. If you play Theodora’s route later, earlier map and waystation progress can also reduce the travel needed for Sirocco’s quest.

Recruit Sofia first if you need sustain. She joins early and provides long-range healing and Rescue. The queen deals damage from a fixed position with Earthen Throw while Sofia replenishes her from a distance, so your core units can keep their positions. Choose recruits by availability and their actual roles, and limit dungeon grinding on a first playthrough. Arrange healing first, then add attackers.

Recruits to fill missing roles: Sofia (lowest requirements and best healing; recruit first), Nuzzuo, Catania, and Guzran or Mu.

Another set of recommendations:

  • Sirocco: Recruit at Bond 1 (Renown 5). Strong in swords and black magic, with good white magic as well, so he can also heal.
  • Loretta: Recruit at Renown 5. High Avoid lets her dodge-tank; flying classes let her reach the frontline, and high Speed makes follow-ups easy.
  • Sofia: An early healer with specialized healing skills who is also strong with bows.

Low-requirement picks: The three easiest recruits are Noctula, Sofia, and Zarcone.

Four-route recruitment assignments: This route takes the most characters: Sofia, Alexandra, Benditz, Halvin, Loretta, Nezha, Nuzzuo, Simon, Zarcone, and Diego. For Diego, accept Orchel’s paralogue during 10/18–10/22.

Theodora’s route ends early

Theodora’s team leaves Dagsion around 10/24. Chapter 12 has only 32 turns, with Cai’s, Dietrich’s, and Orchel’s paralogues competing for that time. Finish recruitment and paralogues before the last minute. Alexandra only appears after this route’s Chapter 8 main story, when your Renown has just reached 6. There is no time to give gifts beforehand; if you want to recruit her immediately, use Restart Chapter to build her Bond first.

Unavailable on Theodora’s route: Fabio, Sha Lan, and Gaitz.

Leda’s route

Route recruits: Buccar, Sirocco, and Mu (Chapter 1), Olympia (after Chapter 3), and Catania (Chapter 4, tutorial recruit). Leda’s route has one more story recruit than the others.

Why early recruiting matters more on Leda’s route: One route order leaves Leda for last because you start with only 4 characters and just 1 attacker, while Leda’s Blaze Arts only come into their own later. Recruit accessible early characters as soon as possible.

One approach adds healing first; another first checks for overlapping roles. Leda’s team has plenty of attackers, but its healers can become overworked. Sirocco covers magic and support, while Olympia is often busy attacking. Recruit Fianna to help first, then use Sofia for more reliable long-range healing once your Renown is high enough. Guzran fills sword and support roles.

Another approach uses Fianna’s Magic for black magic. Since she lacks long-range healing, she is not an equivalent replacement for Sofia. Sofia is recruitable at Renown 7 on Leda’s route, and both approaches recognize her as an important later healer. For tanking, Jasmine appears after 5/8 and requires Renown 4, Bond 2, and 500G. Her role overlaps with Buccar’s, so invest if you want a second tank. Although you can recruit Fabio across routes, he arrives too late to recommend replacing an already-developed magic attacker from this route.

Recruits to fill missing roles: Catania (low requirements and high mobility; prioritize her), Guzran, Kiroc (ranged; Bond 1, Renown 4, Pure Water ×3), and Esmeralda.

Another set of recommendations: Catania (early availability, high growths, flight, and high accuracy), Guzran, and Esmeralda. Recruit Catania and Guzran first so you can start training them sooner.

Low-requirement picks: The three easiest recruits are Guzran, Catania, and Kiroc.

Four-route recruitment assignments: Guzran, Catania, Dadao, Fianna, Inyoni, Jasmine, and Ludia.

Unavailable on Leda’s route: Bonaventure, Tobias, Ursula, Gaitz, and Peppe. Fabio can only be recruited on this route (complete Dietrich’s paralogue, then wait until after 11/4).

Recruitment table fields and first contact

  • “Method”: Story recruit / Tutorial recruit (the story uses the character to teach recruitment, with very low requirements) / Recruit.
  • “Earliest contact”: The earliest chapter when you can meet the character in town and start building Bond. Some characters appear midway through a chapter, so early records may differ by one chapter. The table uses the earliest contact point.
  • “Bond” is the Bond level with the protagonist of your current route; even level 1 requires giving a first gift.
  • “After the paralogue”: Complete the relevant paralogue before recruiting. For the timing, see Paralogue list.

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 5 (month 3) onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 7 and Bond 2 with Cai; first complete “Esmeralda’s Request”. Sirocco

Recruitable on this route. You can begin “Sirocco’s Request” from 3/15 in Chapter 5. Give a gift once, reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Cai, then speak to the character to accept the quest. Olympia

Recruitable. Accept the recruitment quest from 03/15 in Chapter 5; meet the Renown and Bond requirements first. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Cai to 3. Give a gift first, reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Cai, then speak to the character after the paralogue and answer “Yes” to all three questions. After the paralogue, return to town and speak to the character; complete the paralogue before 10/12. The exact first month/day when you can negotiate after returning to town is still unconfirmed. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. You can retry incorrect answers; completing the paralogue does not recruit the character automatically.

Nezha

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (guides list Chapters 4–5, and the character may appear midway through a chapter); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 6 and Bond 3 with Cai. Give Sandworm Meat ×3. For an early recruit, farm sandworms in Heretics’ Cave first; each chapter has a limited number of enemies, so you may need to farm across chapters. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Sandworm Meat can delay recruitment; prepare 3 pieces ahead of time if you plan to train the character.

Halvin

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 5 and Bond with Cai to 3. A reliable route is to accept “Huge Hairy Beasts” from 7/20 in Chapter 8 at the Lower District trading company, defeat the beast at Moonwatch Ridge, then grow the Dates ×2 reward into 10. For an earlier recruit, save before opening the crate and reload to retry; there is a recorded case of growing 1 Date from a crate into more after cultivation unlocks in Chapter 6. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Dante

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 10 and Bond with Cai to 3. Pay 8000G during negotiations; reserve the recruitment money before spending on training or equipment. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Cai to 3. Prepare Giants' Meat ×3: giants in the west or at Sand-Shadow Fort drop it. At the maritime city of Alecto, each piece costs Torment Grass ×10; explore Moonwatch Ridge to reveal the city first, and remember that merchants and meat crates are random. Traveling to Galgo Fort takes 3 turns one way, so allow time for the return trip and negotiations. The exact first month/day when you can return to town and negotiate is unconfirmed. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. Even meeting him as early as month 3 does not let you skip the paralogue.

Give a gift once, reach Renown 7 and Bond 2 with Cai, then speak to the character to recruit them. No additional money, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded. A global date in an appearance table cannot be used directly as the joining date on this route when the story blocks access. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. If you lack Renown, complete quests and service activities first; you still need to meet the requirements after finding the character.

Benditz

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Cai to 3. When you meet the character in town, request recruitment using this route’s requirements; the appearance chapter does not mean those requirements have already been met. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early; in a sample of 5 characters, unrecruited units’ automatic growth often fell below expected values, but the strength of other characters still needs to be assessed individually, and their exact joining level in this chapter is unconfirmed.

Recruitable on this route, but only after completing Talimun’s Paralogue: Secret of the Vanished Carriage, available from 9/17; the early appearance chapter is not the recruitment window. Give a gift first, reach Renown 7 and Bond 3 with Dietrich, then speak to the character after the paralogue and answer “Yes” to all three questions. One recorded test found that completing Bertrand’s paralogue followed by Talimun’s in Chapter 9 leaves too little time to return to town and recruit her; if doing both, recruit her after returning in Chapter 10. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. You can retry incorrect answers; completing the paralogue does not recruit the character automatically.

Simon

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Pay 500G for each coin toss and choose “Tails”. Every negotiation attempt costs money. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Fianna

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 7 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Bring 3000G to the negotiation; the character joins after payment. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Ludia

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3) onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Accept the quest from 03/27 in Chapter 4; complete it and report back before negotiating. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Dietrich; first complete “Ludia’s Request”. For “Ludia’s Request,” go to Callianeira Port and ask the people at the port for information. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. The quest list runs through 11/27, but you still need to be able to meet the character before this route’s main battle. Recruit core units early; in a sample of 5 characters, unrecruited units’ automatic growth often fell below expected values, but the strength of other characters still needs to be assessed individually, and their exact joining level in this chapter is unconfirmed.

Anatolia

Unavailable on Dietrich’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Sha Lan

Recruitable on this route, but only after completing Anatolia’s Paralogue: Queen of the Erased in Chapter 11. Give a gift first, then reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Accept the paralogue during 10/5–10/14, complete it before 10/17, then return to town to find Sha Lan. During negotiations, choose “Understood” → “Salamis” → “Da Mina” → “The stranded giant ship”; you can retry incorrect answers. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. The exact first negotiation date after completing the paralogue and returning to town is still unconfirmed.

Nezha

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Dietrich.

Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Prepare Dates ×10 first. On routes with western access, buy all 10 at Baina Oasis for 30G each, or explore Thalpos Plains and the roads north and south of it; do not assume Cai can use another protagonist’s desert route. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Dadao

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Give Kothar Gar ×2; catch enough outside Dagsion or at Lake Kothar first. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Bertrand

Unavailable on Dietrich’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Gaitz

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3) onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Complete Bertrand’s Paralogue: Friendly Match with Brigid’s King first (Chapter 9, available only on 9/17). Recruitment must wait until Chapter 12, after Dietrich defeats Bertrand and eliminates him; you cannot recruit the character directly in Chapter 4. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Dietrich, complete Bertrand’s Paralogue: Friendly Match with Brigid’s King, and have Bertrand’s team eliminated from the Heroic Games main event (happens automatically when Dietrich defeats Bertrand in the Chapter 11 main story). Exclusive to Dietrich’s route. On 9/17 (Chapter 9), speak to Gabriel outside the Grand Arena during the day to accept Bertrand’s paralogue, then complete it. Wait until Dietrich defeats Bertrand in the Chapter 11 main story and Bertrand’s team is eliminated; you can recruit the character in Chapter 12. Visit Fezzan Gate beforehand so the paralogue location has a green checkmark. He likes coffee and tea gifts. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Accept Bertrand’s paralogue on 9/17 itself; visit Fezzan Gate first to unlock the location. Recruit core units early; in a sample of 5 characters, unrecruited units’ automatic growth often fell below expected values, but the strength of other characters still needs to be assessed individually, and their exact joining level in this chapter is unconfirmed.

Dante

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Dietrich to 2. Pay 8000G during negotiations; reserve the recruitment money before spending on training or equipment. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Jester

Recruitable. Accept the recruitment quest from 03/27 in Chapter 4; meet the Renown and Bond requirements first. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 6 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Complete the three quests in order, returning to town to report and accept the next each time: Bale Lacerators at Dada Plains → Corpse-Gaol Dunanzo at Valhalla Mine → Underworld Wanderers at Whispering Peak. Turn in quest 3 before the Chapter 12 main battle. Allow action turns for three round trips.

Goliath

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 6 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Orchel

Unavailable on Dietrich’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Diego

Recruitable on this route. Accept Orchel’s paralogue from 10/18, then complete it and return to town to find Diego. Give a gift first, reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Dietrich, and accept the paralogue during 10/18–10/25 in Chapter 11; complete it before 10/27.

Ninae

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Explore Lake Brontes near Megaira to obtain Paradise Fish ×1, then return to town and give it to the character. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Loretta

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Give Iron Sword ×3. Each costs 1500G at Dagsion’s weapon shop; stock and the earliest sale date are unconfirmed. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Seteth

Seteth cannot be recruited on Dietrich’s route. Seteth distrusts Dietrich’s casual use of Relic weapons and refuses to join this route. More gifts, higher Renown, or searching for his personal quest on this route cannot change that restriction. To use him, recruit him on Cai’s, Theodora’s, or Leda’s route. After recruiting him on another Part 1 route, speak to him in Dagsion from Part 3 Section 2 to add him to your team.

Guzran

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Once you meet the requirements, negotiate with the character; no additional money, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Nydine

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 5 and Bond 2 with Dietrich. Give the axes required on your route; both Bronze Axes and Iron Axes are sold at Dagsion’s weapon shop. Do not use another route’s item type or quantity. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. One playthrough record reports reaching the Renown requirement no earlier than Chapter 6 and actually recruiting in Chapter 7; you still need to meet the recruitment prerequisites after first contact in Chapter 4.

Io

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 3 and Bond with Dietrich to 2. Pay the amount required for your route during negotiations. Dietrich pays 800G, Leda pays 1500G, and Cai and Theodora pay 4000G; these amounts are not interchangeable. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Catania

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Dietrich to 1. No additional fee, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded for this route; ask the character to join once you meet the requirements. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Noctula

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4; the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 6 and Bond 1 with Dietrich.

Yang Jie

You can recruit Yang Jie during the Chapter 4 recruitment tutorial; the exact tutorial month/day is unconfirmed. Follow the tutorial, give the character a gift once, and recruit as prompted; this route requires Renown 2 and Bond 1 with Dietrich. Do not apply the quiz or negotiations from other routes here. The calendar lists this route’s free time from 3/27, but does not give a separate tutorial date. If you skip it then, you still need to complete recruitment before this route’s Part 1 ends.

Sofia

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. No additional fee, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded for this route; ask the character to join once you meet the requirements. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Alexandra

Recruitable on this route. Japanese player appearance tables list 5/29, but the next free-time period on this route begins on 5/30; the first actual negotiation date remains unconfirmed. Give a gift once, reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Dietrich, then speak to the character to recruit them.

Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Dietrich to 2. When you meet the character in town, request recruitment using this route’s requirements; the appearance chapter does not mean those requirements have already been met. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Centurio

Unavailable on Dietrich’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Zarcone

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 7 and Bond 3 with Dietrich. Reject the first three prices of 10000G, 1000G, and 100G, then pay 10G; you do not need to accept a higher price. Complete recruitment before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Ordinary recruitment is no longer available in Part 2. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Nuzzuo

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 8 onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Appears from 7/1. This does not guarantee the earliest possible recruitment on that date, since you still need enough Renown. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 9 and Bond 1 with Dietrich; give Iron Bow×2 during negotiations. The money or item quantity for this entry is given above; other routes require different amounts. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment before negotiating. Recorded sources for the negotiation weapon: [Local shops] Royal Capital Breston (stock 1), Oriens Town (stock 2). [Item] Quality Weapon Crate. [Wandar Trading Company] Imperial Capital Dagsion (trade in Caltrop Flower ×6). [Traveling merchant] 960G (variable location; observed at Carmenta Station); combine stock from multiple shops if necessary.

Jasmine

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 6 onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Appears from 5/8. This does not guarantee the earliest possible recruitment on that date, since you still need enough Renown. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Dietrich; pay 5000G during negotiations. The money or item quantity for this entry is given above; other routes require different amounts. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment before negotiating.

Kiroc

Recruitable on Dietrich’s route. The shared appearance record is 5/1; Japanese players on this route report seeing the character as soon as Chapter 6 free time begins. Give a gift once, reach Bond 1 with Dietrich, and prepare Pure Water ×3. You need Renown 4. Pure Water is sold at Dagsion’s item shop for a normal price of 500G per bottle, or 1500G for 3. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. Do not give 8 bottles as required on other routes.

Inyoni

Recruitable on Dietrich’s route. Appears from 7/10, midway through Chapter 8; give a gift once, reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Dietrich, then pay 6000G during negotiations. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. You may still lack Renown on the day the character appears.

Peppe

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Complete Bertrand’s paralogue first. On Dietrich’s route, you must accept it on 9/17; it also opens on 9/17 for Cai and Theodora, after which you return to town to recruit Peppe; do not add the Chapter 12 restriction that applies only to Gaitz. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Majide

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Dietrich to 3. Choose “Yes” for all three questions. Choosing “No” even once makes you start over. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Peter

Recruitable on this route. Accept “Peter’s Request” from 3/8 in Chapter 5; joining requires collecting the item and reporting back. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 7 and Bond 3 with Theodora before speaking to him to accept the quest. Find “Phantom Ginji” at Mount Aegina and report back; visiting the mountain before accepting the quest will not let you obtain it. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. The acceptance date is when you can begin the process; allow additional time for the round trip.

Ultand

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 5 (month 3) onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. The quest list runs through 11/27, but Theodora’s route is subject to the earlier 10/24 departure. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Buccar

Recruitable on this route, but you can meet the character in month 3, but joining still requires the prerequisites; complete Leda’s Paralogue: Diversionary Tactics first. Accept the paralogue in front of Kalla’s Temple during 9/2–9/8. Starting it advances time to 9/9; 9/8 is the acceptance deadline, which does not establish 9/9 as a recruitment date. Give a gift, reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Theodora, then return to town and find the character. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Before starting the paralogue, finish other business on the dates it skips.

Sirocco

Recruitable on this route. You can begin “Sirocco’s Request” from 3/8 in Chapter 5. Give a gift once, reach Renown 5 and Bond 1 with Theodora, then speak to the character to accept the quest. The Secret Altar and Atlas Summit are route-specific destinations; do not use another route’s location.

Give a gift first, reach Renown 9 and Bond 3 with Theodora, then speak to the character after the paralogue and answer “Yes” to all three questions. After the paralogue, return to town and speak to the character; complete the paralogue before 10/12. The exact first month/day when you can negotiate after returning to town is still unconfirmed. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. You can retry incorrect answers; completing the paralogue does not recruit the character automatically.

Simon

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Pay 500G for each coin toss and choose “Tails”. Every negotiation attempt costs money. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 5 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 6 and Bond 2 with Theodora. Give Sandworm Meat ×3. For an early recruit, farm sandworms in Heretics’ Cave first; each chapter has a limited number of enemies, so you may need to farm across chapters. Theodora’s team leaves Dagsion from 10/24. Finish recruitment before departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Sandworm Meat can delay recruitment; prepare 3 pieces ahead of time if you plan to train the character.

Halvin

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Prepare Dates ×10 first. On routes with western access, buy all 10 at Baina Oasis for 30G each, or explore Thalpos Plains and the roads north and south of it; do not assume Cai can use another protagonist’s desert route. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Dadao

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 5 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 5 and Bond 2 with Theodora. Give Kothar Gar ×2; catch enough outside Dagsion or at Lake Kothar first. Theodora’s team leaves Dagsion from 10/24. Finish recruitment before departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Bertrand

Unavailable on Theodora’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Gaitz

Unavailable on Theodora’s route: Part 1 recruitment is exclusive to Dietrich’s route; completing Bertrand’s paralogue on another route does not make the character recruitable. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Dante

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 6 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Pay 8000G during negotiations; reserve the recruitment money before spending on training or equipment. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Jester

Recruitable. Accept the recruitment quest from 03/08 in Chapter 5; meet the Renown and Bond requirements first. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Complete the three quests in order, returning to town to report and accept the next each time: Bale Lacerators at Dada Plains → Corpse-Gaol Dunanzo at Valhalla Mine → Underworld Wanderers at Whispering Peak. Turn in quest 3 before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle. Allow action turns for three round trips.

Goliath

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Prepare Giants' Meat ×3: giants in the west or at Sand-Shadow Fort drop it. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Orchel

Unavailable on Theodora’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Diego

Recruitable on this route. Accept Orchel’s paralogue from 10/18, then complete it and return to town to find Diego. Give a gift first, reach Renown 8 and Bond 2 with Theodora, and accept the paralogue during 10/18–10/22 in Chapter 12; complete it before 10/24. Traveling to Galgo Fort takes 3 turns one way, so allow time for the return trip and negotiations. Japanese players advise completing Orchel’s paralogue before Cai’s on this route; reversing the order may advance time past the available window. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Even meeting him as early as month 3 does not let you skip the paralogue.

Ninae

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 6 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Explore Lake Brontes near Megaira to obtain Paradise Fish ×1, then return to town and give it to the character. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 6 and Bond 3 with Theodora; first complete “Seteth’s Request”. For “Seteth’s Request,” defeat the “Dusk-Damned Piccolos” at Mount Ouranos on Cai’s route or Augas Pass on Theodora’s/Leda’s route. Cannot be recruited on Dietrich’s route. Theodora’s team leaves Dagsion from 10/24. Finish recruitment before departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. The quest list runs through 11/27, but Theodora’s route is subject to the earlier 10/24 departure. Recruit core units early; in a sample of 5 characters, unrecruited units’ automatic growth often fell below expected values, but the strength of other characters still needs to be assessed individually, and their exact joining level in this chapter is unconfirmed.

Guzran

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 5 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Theodora. Give a gift once, reach Renown 6 and Bond 1 with Theodora, then speak to the character to recruit them. No additional money, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded. A global date in an appearance table cannot be used directly as the joining date on this route when the story blocks access. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. The Chinese community guide notes that she appears late on this route; do not assume you can give her gifts before she appears.

Benditz

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Theodora to 1. When you meet the character in town, request recruitment using this route’s requirements; the appearance chapter does not mean those requirements have already been met. Finish recruitment before departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Nuzzuo

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 9 (month 7) onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Appears from 7/1. This does not guarantee the earliest possible recruitment on that date, since you still need enough Renown. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 6 and Bond 1 with Theodora; give Iron Bow×3 during negotiations. The money or item quantity for this entry is given above; other routes require different amounts. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment before negotiating. Give a gift once, reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Theodora, then give Pure Water ×8. If you cannot find the red marker in town, check inside the tavern. For a Chapter 5 recruit on Leda’s route, Japanese players report needing stations unlocked on an earlier route to buy 3 bottles in Osiris Village; this is not a general method for your first route. On Theodora’s route, finish before the 10/24 departure and this route’s Chapter 12 main battle. Renown progress depends on how you play; 5/1 is the appearance date.

Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Majide

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Theodora to 3. Choose “Yes” for all three questions. Choosing “No” even once makes you start over. Finish before the 10/24 departure and the Chapter 12 main battle.

Guzran

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 3 and Bond 1 with Leda.

Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 10 and Bond 3 with Leda. Recruit core units early, and meet all requirements before negotiating.

Io

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 6 and Bond with Leda to 1. Pay the amount required for your route during negotiations. Dietrich pays 800G, Leda pays 1500G, and Cai and Theodora pay 4000G; these amounts are not interchangeable. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Catania

You can recruit Catania during the Chapter 4 recruitment tutorial; the exact tutorial month/day is unconfirmed. Follow the tutorial, give the character a gift once, and recruit as prompted; this route requires Renown 2 and Bond 1 with Leda. Do not apply the quiz or negotiations from other routes here. The calendar lists this route’s free time from 3/21, but does not give a separate tutorial date. If you skip it then, you still need to complete recruitment before this route’s Part 1 ends.

Noctula

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4 (month 3); the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 8 and Bond 3 with Leda.

Yang Jie

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 8 and Bond with Leda to 3. On routes without the tutorial, answer “Cheese” → “Full moon” → any answer. You can negotiate again after a wrong answer. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Sofia

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Leda to 3. No additional fee, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded for this route; ask the character to join once you meet the requirements. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Alexandra

Recruitable on Leda’s route. A tested Japanese player appearance table lists availability from 5/29 in Chapter 7. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 10 and Bond with Leda to 3. Once all requirements are met, negotiate with the character; no additional money, item, or quiz requirements have been recorded. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. 5/29 is only the appearance date; if you lack Renown, continue quests and service activities.

Benditz

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 7 and Bond with Leda to 3. When you meet the character in town, request recruitment using this route’s requirements; the appearance chapter does not mean those requirements have already been met. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.

Centurio

Unavailable on Leda’s route: The character cannot be recruited in Part 1. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Zarcone

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 4; the exact first negotiation month/day is unconfirmed. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 5 and Bond 2 with Leda.

Appears from 7/1, midway through Chapter 8 of Leda’s route. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Leda to 3. Give Iron Bow ×3 on this route; buy them at Dagsion’s weapon shop. Do not assume recruitment is unavailable this chapter just because the character is absent at its start. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle. 7/1 is the date the character appears in town; you still need to meet the Renown and Bond requirements yourself.

Jasmine

Recruitable on Leda’s route. You can make contact from month 5; allow time for gifts and negotiations. Give a gift once, reach Renown 4 and Bond 2 with Leda, then pay 500G during negotiations. The player calendar has Chapter 6 free time beginning on 5/9; the shared 5/8 appearance record does not mean recruitment is possible that day on this route, and the first negotiation date remains unconfirmed. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. Do not use the 2000G or 5000G requirements from other routes.

Kiroc

Recruitable on this route. Appears from 5/1, midway through Chapter 5; do not check only at the start of the chapter. Give a gift once, reach Renown 4 and Bond 1 with Leda, then give Pure Water ×3. If you cannot find the red marker in town, check inside the tavern. For a Chapter 5 recruit on Leda’s route, Japanese players report needing stations unlocked on an earlier route to buy 3 bottles in Osiris Village; this is not a general method for your first route. Finish before this route’s Chapter 12 main battle; ordinary recruitment cannot be completed after entering the War Arc. Renown progress depends on how you play; 5/1 is the appearance date.

Inyoni

Recruitable. Earliest contact: Part 1 Chapter 9 onward. Joining also requires meeting the Renown, Bond, and prerequisite conditions below at the same time. Appears from 7/10. This does not guarantee the earliest possible recruitment on that date, since you still need enough Renown. Requirements: give a gift once to unlock recruitment, then reach Renown 7 and Bond 1 with Leda; pay 3000G during negotiations. The money or item quantity for this entry is given above; other routes require different amounts. Give a gift once to unlock recruitment before negotiating.

Peppe

Unavailable on Leda’s route: Leda’s route lacks Bertrand’s paralogue, a recruitment prerequisite, so you cannot recruit the character here. Follow the character’s own story route or the requirements for later parts; gifts and Bond grinding cannot remove this route restriction.

Majide

Recruitable. Give a gift to unlock recruitment, then raise Renown to 9 and Bond with Leda to 3. Choose “Yes” for all three questions. Choosing “No” even once makes you start over. Finish before the Chapter 12 main battle.
