Total growths do not rank strength: examine each stat to understand a character’s roleMajor spoilers
High total growths still depend on distribution. Defense, Resistance, Attack Speed, and Hit determine survival and reliability; spells, movement, and healing range can change the assessment.

Weight total growths according to the role
I tried several calculations: counting only the higher of Strength or Magic, multiplying Luck and Charm by 0.5 or 0.2, or counting the main attacking stat fully and the other at half value.
Why? Magic gained by a physical character may not be worth as much as Strength. Luck and Charm may not improve survival as immediately as HP, Defense, or Resistance.
Dietrich has 415 total growth and is strong in practice.
Talimun has 400, but that does not place him above every attacker. Breaking down distribution shows whose stats actually serve their role.
Assess survival through HP and both defensive stats
Theodora has the highest HP growth, and many high-HP characters also have high Strength for melee.
Orchel is a counterexample: low HP growth but very high Defense and Resistance. HP alone does not make her fragile. Her low Speed and Dexterity are less serious because her main jobs are tanking and healing.
Fianna,
Dante, and
Tialla have both low HP and low Defense. Their Magic and support skills have value, but late-game fliers on Hard can still kill them in one hit. Useful spells do not remove the need for frontline protection.
Strength, Magic, and actual damage
Tobias,
Nathan,
Goliath, and
Orchel all have high Strength growth, often paired with enough HP for melee. Archer
Inyoni has 50 Strength growth. Compared with many archers at 35, she more easily damages nonflying enemies too.
Dietrich’s 45 Strength growth is not the highest, but Dexterity and critical hits raise his damage. For magic, compare growths alongside other conditions:
| Character | Magic growth | Other practical factors |
|---|---|---|
Fianna | 55% | Low HP and Defense |
Fabio | 50% | Gets three-tile spells relatively early |
Anatolia | 50% | Similarly high Magic |
Olympia | 50% | Several critical-hit bonuses |
Skills and spell lists change performance even at the same Magic.
Speed must serve the current role
Leda has 65 Speed growth, and
Dancer strengthens it further.
Creek turns Speed into useful follow-ups too.
Peppe and
Jester are fast but join late with low Strength and frail bodies. Two attacks may still fail to compensate for weak damage.
Evasion-oriented characters such as
Loretta and
Catania can build around Speed, but stacking it does not automatically solve everything. Armor takes another path:
Orchel and
Goliath do not rely on frequent follow-ups. Enough Defense and Resistance still lets them do their jobs.
Buccar and
Tobias have similar physical foundations, but Buccar’s extra armored movement helps his poor mobility. That advantage is absent from the nine-stat growth total yet obvious when advancing.
Dexterity deserves attention. Dietrich,
Peter, and others use it for reliable hits. Tobias has enough Strength but cannot exploit it when he misses.
Theodora can miss too, though other strengths compensate.
Physical and magical durability differ
Orchel excels in both Defense and Resistance. Many ordinary armored units have only good Defense.
Tobias,
Buccar, and
Goliath can tank physical enemies but need another answer to magic.
Conversely, high Resistance often belongs to casters who still have low Defense. Part 3 on Hard can send several fliers at once, making positioning crucial for backliners
Dante,
Tialla, and
Fianna. Class growths can patch weaknesses, such as armor for Defense, but until stats improve, deploy according to the stats you currently have.
Luck and Charm matter but depend more on specific skills.
Talimun’s high Luck suits his support combinations.
Dietrich uses Dexterity and Luck for critical hits, while Dante’s support relates to teammates’ Charm. Treating all these points as equal to Strength or Defense can inflate scores beyond actual combat strength.
Recruitment timing and skills add role value
Ultand ranks highly in total growths, with balanced Strength, Magic, Defense, and Resistance. I think
Guardian suits him, but class unlock order in
Cai’s story may prevent that path immediately.
Ninae has good Strength and Resistance plus
Physic, letting Guardian connect her strengths.
Mu’s growth skill produces excellent later stats for physical roles or
War Monk.
Orchel lacks a top total, but her extreme distribution serves durability and healing. She can heal herself while healing allies, and more healing makes her steadier.
Lowering Luck and Charm weights and discounting the secondary attacking stat pushes well-distributed characters such as
Dietrich,
Theodora, and Mu upward. Use this comparison to find weaknesses and choose growth classes. To decide whom to train, add recruitment timing, personal skills, and spells back into the assessment.
